We wonder how Miamians would feel about a #MiamiVice TV series reboot being filmed in Atlanta rather than actually being shot here, on location, throughout #MiamiBeach and Miami-Dade County. This, unfortunately, could actually be a reality. Matter of fact, if production were to begin today, it wouldn’t begin (or end) in Dade County. @VinDiesel is seriously considering rebooting Miami Vice, but even if he wanted to, the studio financing and distributing the new series has most likely already decided to shoot this project in Georgia. The State of Georgia has fortified their production infrastructure, they’ve cultivated an extremely film and television production friendly culture, and above all, they have statewide incentives.

Yes, the studio would still send a second unit crew to South Florida to shoot exteriors, but the millions of dollars in tax generating revenue that would significantly benefit our local small business community, increase tourism and boost our local economy (reinvigorating our culture class btw), would go to #Atlanta.

So are we really going to stand by and watch a producer reboot this classic series, the very cultural phenomenon that breathed the first breaths of life into #SouthBeach in the 80s and essentially put #Miami on the map? …and not produce it in Miami?

…or are we going to set the scene, fortify our production infrastructure, become significantly more film and television production friendly, and aggressively fight for the local incentives that will help us to make the cultural, logistical and economical case that Miami is, was and always will be the one and only place to produce a Miami Vice! (at South Beach, Florida)
