[DUTCH] 'Poisonous, het eerste liedje (na die waanzinnige intro dus), pakt me nog harder bij m’n ballen en laat me niet meer los. Ik luister al niet eens meer naar de wat irritante snare-roffel, maar ben helemaal in de ban van de mooiste vrouwenstem die ik ooit uit Nederland heb horen komen. ‘Na een release in het Deense, komt Roufaida Aboutaleb terug naar Nederland om de kersverse ep Open Water van haar nieuwe project Southbound op 12 juni in eigen stad te presenteren. Geworteld in Rotterdam, geschreven in Kopenhagen en opgenomen met muzikanten uit heel Europa.

Het is een machtig mooi jaar geweest, waarin Roufaida met vallen en opstaan haar eigen werk heeft leren produceren, opnemen, om dan nu echt uit te brengen. Het was een leerzaam jaar en deze ep van haar nieuw gevormde project Southbound vormt de kroon op dat jaar.

Tijdens de releaseparty in Theater Kantine Walhalla, presenteert zij de ep Open Water. Op deze avond zal muziek, dans en beeldende kunst, van o.a. Andrea Renon en Eli Dijkers, bij elkaar komen op één podium. Bovendien gaat ook de gloednieuwe video bij de song Poisonous in première. Het optreden wordt gesupport door het Antwerpse RAVVEL. Kom lekker met een drankje achterover leunen in dit mooie theater en laat je verrassen door heel veel muziek, dans, video en meer!Extra informatie

I can finally announce that the title of Southbound’s debut EP will be Open Water. Open Water, because my past year has felt a lot like being on a rough sea, in stormy weather, far from coastlines, far from comfort. It’s been an exciting place to be, every day was an adventure. But it’s also a lonely and freezing place, on that boat. Fully focussed, wearing my heart on the sleeve, sailing that ship, Southbound. Now it’s almost time to go home again. Denmark gave me Southbound, which is the most beautiful gift I got this year. Together with great musicians from all over Europe, I was able to steer the wheel into the right direction. The warm direction. Southbound. 4 songs, 1 intro. It makes me feel good to be able to put this adventure in a little musical package. All the recordings are done, the mixing and mastering will be finalized in may, and in june we will finally hold the physical copies of Open Water in our hands. I can’t wait. Hope to see you all soon in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, at the release show in june. More about that soon! X
