Okay so finding out that people are excited about the idea of a South Downs cottage has me in a spin because generally the world doesn't give a rat's arse about the hills in which I live and I have the strongest urge to want to show people around the place. Share it.

Let me show you this cool ruin. Hey, do you want to know about this secret place I used to go all the time; would it inspire you too?

Walk this cobble path with me, this tree tunnel, this windswept fox-trail. What about this orchard, where they bless the trees every October with music? Look, the red kite over the watermill, the wren in the fuchsia.

What about this pub with the stream beside it, do you think they'd like it here? Would they walk this river? See it in flood? Would they crest this hill and wait here all day to watch the mist break over the woodland and see how the light changed over the fields?

Or maybe you're more concerned with the comfortable secrecy of a rose garden, with arched benches hidden under honeysuckle?
