I don’t really know how to talk about this piece without sounding a little unhinged, but here we go.

Caitlyn isn’t just a character I like. She’s become a place I go back to when my brain gets loud, when my mental health dips, when I need something steady to focus on. Drawing her is grounding in a way I didn’t expect. It gives my hands something to do when my head won’t shut up. It gives shape to feelings I don’t always know how to name.

I poured so much time into this. So many hours of rendering, tweaking, fixing, doubting, fixing again. Like always, all I can see at first are the flaws, the things I could have done better. But this time… I also feel proud. Proud of the work, proud of the journey, proud that I let myself love something this much and turn it into art.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know how obsessed I am with her. I don’t even try to hide it anymore. Every version of Caitlyn I draw is another way of saying thank you. For the inspiration. For the comfort. For being this anchor that keeps pulling me back to creating when everything else feels heavy.

This is a birthday piece, but it’s also a love letter.

To a fictional woman made of pixels who somehow means more to me than a lot of real things.
