Tweaked controls - subsystem panel now permanently visible, switchable via numeric keys.
Vehicles: EVA suit, EVA pod, tachikoma, SW landspeeder; Riding a tachikoma wearing an EVA suit; JSON definitions of said vehicles.
Galaxies now come with randomized number of arms, core size and star color.
Zooming out: planet; planet and its 2 moons; planet and its 2 neighbours; galaxy; galactic neighbourhood.
Exploring abandoned probe; Exploring master AI; Chatting with master AI.
Casual chat with a companion bot.
Starting the engine, zooming out to set acceleration towards the moon; Entering cryo, setting timer to reach the moon, skip-sleeping, zooming in towards moon surface.
Just created a Handybot unit. In this random location seed, it handles the internal storage management - had to connect to it remotely via radio.
Inventory full of schematics (required for synthesizing various block types); wall block and required element packs (seems I'm short on iron); floor blocks are cheap; building a random back porch.
Zooming out; zooming in.
The basics
The game is a sandbox adventure. It means you get to collect and use items, talk to bots and most importantly travel vast distances and explore various locations.
The central storyline is fixed, but the whole universe it takes place in is procedurally generated (from planets to galaxies). There are also random-encounter locations you can explore if you want to take some time off from following the story.
The core part is travelling and exploration. All the distances are as realistic as possible (planet radius is around 10^8 m, stars are light years apart), so flying over the planet with simple propulsion engine would really take hours or days in real time. The trick here is, you can set the course and sleep it over in a cryo chamber. Later, there's an FTL engine for interstellar travel.
You have an inventory, some of the items are required for certain quests, some help you to rebuild your ship. Some are there just for fun.
Instead of choosing dialogue options, there is a chat-like interface. As you'll be talking mostly to bots and information terminals, you'll be limited to a certain set of keywords.
As an engineer, I love interconnected systems. Ship blocks and units are stuffed with various subsystems. You can connect remotely to some of them, for example to operate the EVA pod from the safety of your command chair. You can collect resources and synthesize a brand new ship from scratch.
