Lukas Odinsson and his family had been recovering from the big tragedy that shook their home: a horrible accident, house fire, took away the life of Lukas's wife, Margot Petit.
While mourning his spouse, Lukas had no other way but move forward - after all, he had two daughters to raise.
His younger girl, Odette, was a toddler at the time when her mother died, and hardly remembered her; though Odette rarely felt lonely.
She spent lots of free time at the Jensens house, who were her dad's best friends and happened to leave just across the road. While adults did their adult talks and drank wine, she played with Jensen twins.
She also had her older sister Teckilah, who kind of took place of a mother figure in girl's life.

Teckilah stayed to live with her dad after he divorced her mom, but she was seeing Sophie pretty often
As well as her brother, JJ. Now that he wasn't a shy little boy anymore, they could finally go out to town together
Lukas didn't take the absence of woman in his life particularly well. Eating french cheese leftovers for breakfast at noon, he was admitting to himself that he just cannot stand being alone and not having a relationship.
That's probably why he started dating their housemaid Leah.
When Lukas bought a house in Champ les Sims, it was a bittersweet moment: Margot would've loved this view at the river so much, it was such a shame she wasn't there with him anymore.
Lukas invited all their common friends for the housewarming, so the little french cottage was full of people this day.
His little girl was happy.
Talking with guests, Lukas noticed a familiar silhouette in a crowd, and though her head was covered with a hat…
"Sophie?"
"Ah, you noticed me."
"A pleasant surprise, but what are you doing here?"
"I was taking a vacation trip to Champ les Sims, and Kilah called me with and made me come here. I was just for a minute, really…"
"Why? Stay. You're… You're family, after all. Would you mind a dance?"
And so they had a dance or two, and it was bittersweet too, but more sweet than bitter. After all the divorce drama, his cheating and her revenge, after all the ways they hurt each other - he still felt at ease with Sophie. She was still his soulmate.
Teckilah was busy eating cake and side-eyeing Alan Lefebre. When she visited France with dad and Margot in her teens, she had a crush on the boy, and he - probably - had a crush on her.
Today, as it turned out, was also guy's birthday.
Realizing she still very much likes him and he's still pretty handsome, Kilah… panicked.
But then seeing her parents doing what looked like fixing their relationship, she saw it as a sign from above, and called Alan daring him to meet up downtown at midnight.
This led to that - and they were in love again <3
