And this is what it looked like with the bales in.
Looking back at the build. This was the house before the strawbales went in.
#happy
In 1999 my straw bale dreams started when a young man I worked with told me about Strawbale building. I bought the first of many books on the topic, met and married my husband who joined me in this crazy dream. Seventeen years later we spent the first night in our cabin of dreams. The following are the photos of our nearly completed cabin on 30 acres of Nebraska Sandhills between the Niobrara River and the Minnechaduza Creek.
30 acres, 3 longhorns, a few rusty trucks and tractors and a Merle Haggard sign.
The exterior of the Spandish Pipedream. Strawbale walls, rusted steel, cedar beams and shakes and copper rain chains. One day we will have some landscaping, too.
The last round of photos from the living room. Love the woodwork.
Photos of the Living Room.
The kitchen. :)
Here are a few photos of the bathroom.
The bedroom.
Meet Wally, our black walnut bar top. Isn’t he sexy?
Meet Wally, who will soon be our bar.
The Goose took a few beautiful fog photos from SPD this morning. Love the fog coming off of the Niobrara River.
SPD’s winterization continues. Two of my favorite people did all the hard labor while I was home with a case of pneumonia. Doesn’t she look beautiful?
The little house has walls.
Shakes are slowly going up and the first bit of metal is on. This will eventually rust.
Half way done with the brown coat of plaster on the outside. :)
