Sometimes I think we forget that Mike, Lucas, and the others aren’t soldiers or superheroes — they’re literally just kids.
Kids who should be worried about school dances, homework, and whether their crush likes them back… not monsters, labs, and the end of the world.
And yet they keep trying to protect everyone around them.
Mike yelling “eyes on me!” while he’s shaking with fear himself? That’s a teenager trying to hold it together long enough to keep his friends alive.
Lucas standing in front of others even when he’s terrified? That’s a kid who doesn’t want anyone else to get hurt, even if he could.
All of them running head-first into danger again and again — not because they’re fearless, but because they think no one else will take care of it.
They’re children carrying the weight of things adults can’t even comprehend.
And I think that’s what makes their bravery hit harder:
they’re still growing, still learning, still scared… and they’re doing everything they can to save each other anyway.
