Poor Man's Poison - Feed The Machine 2020
Poor Man's Poison is an American folk band from Hanford, California. The lineup since its creation consists of guitarists Ryan Hakker and Michael Jacobs, mandolinist Tommy McCarthy and double bassist Dustin Medeiros; all members share vocal duties, although Hakker usually acts as lead vocalist. The band was originally formed in 2009 from the remnants of Done For Good, another band by Hakker, McCarthy and Medeiros; after a hiatus in 2014, they reformed in 2019, this time more focused on releasing studio singles rather than producing albums or performing live. Mostly defined by their acoustic sound, they have been categorized as various genres, including folk, Americana, country, rock, blues, and pop; Medeiros has claimed that the band "cannot be pinned down in one specific category". In September 2012, Poor Man's Poison won the "Best New Act in Country Music" at the Country Showdown in Nashville.

The following two statements are both true:
Star Trek has always been woke
Star Trek has always been corporate
Star Trek has always been internationalist
Star Trek has always been American
Star Trek has mostly been utopian
Star Trek has mostly been written by middle-class white heterosexual men

The Decemberists - Eli, the Barrow Boy 2005
The Decemberists are an American indie rockband from Portland, Oregon, formed in 2000. As of 2024, the band has released nine studio albums with their lyrics often focusing on historical incidents and folklore. Audience participation is a part of their live performances, typically during encores. The band stages whimsical reenactments of sea battles and other centuries-old events, typically of regional interest, or acts out songs with members of the crowd.
Picaresque is their third studio album, released in 2005. The word "picaresque" refers to a form of satirical prose originating in Spain, depicting realistically and often humorously the adventures of a low-born, roguish hero living by their wits in a corrupt society. To facilitate the creative process and avoid creative block, band members filled a used bike helmet with slips of paper listing strategies and ideas to try out. Non-traditional rock instruments used in the album's recording included an accordion and a hurdy-gurdy. The album was produced by Chris Walla, also the guitarist for the band Death Cab for Cutie.

i just realized that the literal first thing Sinkewicz does in TD is lose control over his body to some other conscious agent within. The DID allegations will never be beaten.
TD1 is sort of accidental DID representation. naturally, it's quite bad. TD2 might be more intentional and perhaps better DID representation. but also i dont knowwwww
they're killing me for writing a character who might as well be possessed by evil spirits and trying to retcon him as a person with DID. they're shooting me in the heart tomorrow but it's fine because i deserve it
@ last part you just kinda say these things, but what do they really mean
In the first book he has a bunch of "enemy voices" in his head that roughly correspond to his internal organs and say evil stuff when he feels vulnerable - their messages vary from general ennui to thinly veiled calls for self-sacrifice at the first opportunity or just plain suicide. The heart is of course his biggest enemy. At some point he uncovers the traumatic origin of these voices' forms and learns to coexist with them. BUT it's written in a way that makes it seem like the voices are some kind of magic poisoning. and that's really not what DID is like. It's some sort of greek chorus. I dunno man, I'm basically one of those fuckass infinite monkeys it feels like
ahh i see... if only TD could be translated to english, perhaps then id know this...

In TD1, both Sinkewicz and his country are kind of reserved to their gruesome fates. This is changed rapidly due to certain externalities and the book ends on a positive note... In TD2, the contradictions in Sevraporter society intensify, an open-eyed optimistic tendency aimed at peaceful development clashes with reactionary skeptics who think that the country is unlikely to survive without significant sacrifices and the mobilization of it's internal resources. This, in broad strokes, shows the shape Sinkewicz's psyche will have to assume for the sake of narrative wholeness... What's important is that these forces are not inherently antagonistic, because one informs the goal of the struggle, whereas the other provides the means... TD's structural philosophy is that a personal and a political plotline run in parallel - ultimately the series aims to show a new world, but it is a kind of a new world that also requires new people... [i.e. the structure of Sinkewicz's identity is explicitly reminiscent of the political processes happening in his country] trying to figure out these characters. I'm trying to formalize Sinkewicz's Magic DID and I'd really appreciate it if anyone told me if I'm making any sense at all with this..
the problem is i really do love staying up until one billion o'clock. it just cant be helped

my awesome and super viable strategy for overthrowing the us government that doesnt focus on uniting workers internationally and leading workers in advanced capitalist production, transportation, and social reproduction in using their overwhelming numbers and their relationships to the means of their work to expropriate the imperialist bourgeoisie by force. it just sounds like that would be really hard because i dont like those people. i just have vibes based nation building instead. yeah its awesome i just do protests but sometimes i get burned out :((( but then i remember all the reasons to uphold all the actually existing socialisms and resistance to imperialism and intersectional feminism and i lecture some people online and i feel better. and yes im a marxist. dont ask what my parents do for work. slay
there is a well known quote of Lenin:
"Without revolutionary theory, there can be no revolutionary movement."
However, this is tumblr, so neither theory nor movement ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
I will be giving my best nontheless. However, it is the first and primary lesson necessary for such a project.
we are on a social media platform, not some avenue to organize the workers. the entire history of the workers movement has shown that the engagement of the communists in the fighting organisations of the class is among their most productive engagement.
I don’t want to make anyone feel bad for being on this platfom, because there is nothing bad about engaging in an interest online (as I am doing here). But the internet is never compensation for irl organizing.
I don’t know who needs to hear this. genuinely, I just downloaded the app for the first time and don’t know the culture. this is my first post, hello tmblr :)
Onwards to revolution, comrades!
