THEIRIN, ALISTAIR:
A BLINK , mostly to alleviate the spots that he’s burned into his vision from staring so long into the fire before angling his head to look up at her . never one for subtlety , he grins ! at her , because he’s grateful for the company and he’s especially grateful that it’s her company . ❝ to be honest with you , i , ah —– hadn’t tried yet . see , as a child , i used to play hide - and - seek with the brothers in the chantry —– which was mostly me hiding and them dragging me out of dark corners by the scruff of my neck . but ! i devised a plan , you see . over time , i discovered that if i couldn’t see them , they couldn’t see me . i don’t really —– ah , i’m not sure if the same thing applies to horrible archdemon dreams , but . . . well , better safe than sorry , right ? ❞ he stifles a yawn with fingers over his mouth , rubs weariness from his eyes before scooting over on the log to allow room for her . ❝ anyway ! would you , ah —– like to sit ? i kept it warm for you . ❞
isla’s eyebrows rise as she listens to his explanation --- although she finds it endearing, she doesn’t think it’s very HEALTHY. nonetheless she takes her seat next to him when he offers her a space, a slight flush creeping onto fair cheeks --- a flush that she’d never admit to, but one that morrigan would undoubtedly catch if she were around. DESPITE THEIR DIFFERENCES, isla... finds that she wants to be closer to him. she blames it on the cold.
‘ that sounds an awful lot like avoiding sleep to me, though you’ve managed to make it an oddly... endearing, for lack of a better word, habit. ’ she presses her lips together to try to suppress a smile before she turns to face him. ‘ though i don’t blame you. these are --- well, i already didn’t like the dark. i have too much of an active imagination, i suppose, and the dreams... don’t very much help. ’ she frowns, averting her gaze to the campfire as she folds her arms. ‘ but i suppose our own troubles are the least of our worries now. ’ isla pauses, eyes narrowing on the campfire as her voice lowers. ‘ did you realise that a long time ago? ’
