The vines rise at the will of those you thought you could trust.
Despite creating the Vahki, under order or otherwise, Nuparu kinda made up for those mistakes when he became a Toa Inika, and with his team defeated the Piraka.
...
Well, I did expect prank mail, but not this early on.
You have points. I admit that evil done through not considering the ramifications of one's creations is still evil, but surely it is a lesser evil than that of the one whose actions are to request the creation of tools of enslavement? (A side note: Having experienced all Vahki staff abilities myself at least once, I genuinely don't know whether to commend Nuparu on how thoroughly temporary they are, or feel violated by the memories of my mind not being my own without my even realizing it.)
First off, I'd like to sympathize with you, no Matoran should have to go through that. But, yes, perhaps it is a lesser evil, but evil all the same.
Oh, *honestly*. Nuparu is nothing of the sort. Created the Vahki? Yes. Under *orders* from Turaga Dume, who I'd say is the real villain in this situation. Nuparu is simply a master inventor too loyal to this city for comfort. (Also, I salute your bravery in attaching a name to your words.)
What you say about Dume is likely true, but as a speaker of truth I must question the ethics of the inventor. For instance, what madmatoran would create a weapon that could be used to completely enslave a innocent Matoran's body and mind? Or erase the intellect entirely, leaving your fellow citizens only hollow shells with only basic motor functions. It sickens me.
Perhaps this Onu-Matoran seems normal to you, an average, hardworking citizen of Metru Nui just like you and I. I can assure you that he is most certainly nothing of the kind. This is Chief Engineer Nuparu, the Matoran single-handedly responsible for the hundreds, no, thousands of "disappearances" and forced "reeducation" of your fellow free-thinking Matoran. He has invented the robotic law enforcement creatures that patrol our skies and keep us under an iron heel.
I am Rodeka.
The city of Metru Nui is a built on a foundation of corruption. Where enslavement is simply considered normal and cold, unfeeling, mechanical vultures patrol the skies in search of anyone who separates from the norm.
I am the Spirit of Truth. I intend to put a stop to all of it.
