“litanies to my heavenly brown body” by mark aguhar
(image of a printed poem in red text, all caps, with kiss marks from bright pink and brick red lipstick)
Text ID:
Blessed are the sissies Blessed are the boi dykes Blessed are the people of color my beloved kith and kin Blessed are the trans Blessed are the high femmes Blessed are the sex workers Blessed are the authentic Blessed are the dis-identifiers Blessed are the gender illusionists Blessed are the non-normative Blesses are the genderqueers Blessed are the kinksters Blessed are the disabled Blessed are the hot fat girls Blessed are the weirdo-queers Blessed is the spectrum Blessed is consent Blessed is respect Blessed are the beloved who I didn’t describe, I couldn’t describe, will learn to describe and respect and love Amen
-Mark Aguhar, “Litanies to my heavenly brown body”
shield really is a perfect description of one of the roles my nails serve for me. not even metaphorically, though they certainly do that too, but as a high femcrip technology: my fingertips are the most sensitized part of an already excruciatingly sensitive skin, & my nails block them,
prevent accidental collision with textures & temperatures that’d be disastrous: i lift fries from the dedicated gluten-free toaster oven & ice cubes from the freezer with my nails rather than my fingers, like letting the legs take the weight for which the spine is too fragile. i can’t carry my water bottle to the couch without something popping out of place,
but i can scratch the cats without crying from the overstimulation of even their softnesses. i dream of acrylics that double as styluses. how can you function with those? people ask. how could i function without them?

Super disappointing to finally see artwork accurately representing my body and realize it’s being reposted on subreddits like “awful taste but great execution” and “diwhy” :( Like this is so cool
(Note- none of the people reposting it to make fun are posting a source and I haven’t been able to find one after an hour of searching, so I can’t say for certain what the artist’s intentions are/if it’s intended to be about intersex genitals or embryonic genital development or both)
The artist is Sonia Rose aka Rose Grown. It is captioned "Biology is not binary".

I made a little blog post over on my website about the making of I'M AN EXPLORER. I talk a lot about how I made it, why I made it, and what I was thinking while I made it. Here's one of my favorite parts:
