yay i'm at work !! i'll mostly be doing a lot of busy work today before our event so please lets chat/plot and maybe write <3

[ CAUGHT ]: sender finds receiver somewhere they aren't supposed to be.

you  think  she  would  have  learned  her  lesson  about  sneaking  around  in  places  she  wasn't  supposed  to  be  and  its  like  her  scar  gives  a  phantom  ache  as  she  grabs  the  door  for  the  viewing  lounge  she  knows  she  should  be  down  in  the  pit  or  finding  lucas,  but  meredith  grey  was  in  the  OR  ..  and  this  time  she  wasn't  the  one  on  the  operating  table.  the  second  before  she  swings  the  door  open  a  familiar  voice  calls  out  from  behind  her  and  she  freezes  in  place, 

“  nurse  chapel  !  ”  dani  whirls  around,  ponytail  practically  hitting  her  in  the  face  with  the  speed  she  uses  to  turn  around,  “  i  was  just  ..  just  looking  for  dr.  adams,  have  you  ..  have  you  seen  him  ?  "

a  deep  breath  in  and  a  deep  breath  out  ruffled  the  limp  curls  resting  against  either  side  of  her  face,  sticking  to  the  cold  sweat  at  her  temples.  her  hands  shook  where  they  were  clenched  tight  around  her  stethoscope,  both  from  the  adrenaline  and  the  chill  of  the  night  wind  and  she  swallowed  down  the  urge  to  be  sick  on  the  asphalt.  lost  in  her  own  frantic  headspace  dani  didn't  hear  at  first  the  footsteps  until  they  grew  closer  and  she  scrambled  to  her  feet,  unsteady  and  nearly  toppling  over  before  she  steadied  herself  and  felt  relief  curl  in  her  chest  when  blue  eyes  fell  on  a  mostly  familiar  figure,

❛  dr.  wolf  !  ❜  dani  called  out,  a  wave  of  her  fingers  as  she  hurried  to  keep  up  by  his  side,  two  cups  in  her  hands  ❛ good  morning  !  how  were  the  rest  of  your  holidays  ?  oh,  i  brought  you  a  tea  because  i  didn't  really  know  how  you  take  your  coffee  and  i  don't  even  drink  coffee  and  i  didn't  want  to  get  you  the  wrong  thing  so  i  got  you  an  earl  grey  ..  if  you  want.  "

for  someone  who  snuck  around  the  hospital  the  night  before  her  official  first  day  you  think  she  would  know  her  way  around  better,  but  instead  she's  lost.  at  least,  she's  not  lost  with  or  trying  to  find  a  patient  she's  just  lost  after  scarfing  down  a  sandwich  in  the  cafeteria  after  lucas  reminded  her  to  eat  when  she  had  the  chance  to  eat.  she  could  ask  one  of  the  nurses  because  she  knows  they  would  know,  but  she  wants  to  find  her  own  way  because  that's  what  dr.  grey  would  do  right  ?  instead,  she's  looking  around  and  contemplating  trying  to  at  least  find  the  elevators  because  if  she  starts  from  the  bottom  she'll  eventually  find  her  way  around  again  before  a  voice  calls  out  to  her, 

❛  dr.  karev  !  “  dani  calls  out,  putting  a  smile  on  her  face  as  she  stops  in  her  tracks,  ”  did  you  need  something  ?  "

dani  cracks  a  yawn  through  her  fingers,  hoping  to  stifle  because  the  last  thing  she  wanted  was  serena  thinking  she  wasn't  up  for  a  fun  night  on  one  of  the  few  nights  they  actually  had  off  together  to  actually  go  out.  a  click  of  heels  drew  her  attention  away  and  she  felt  a  smile  curve  her  lips  as  she  turned  towards  the  sound  on  her  barstool, 

“  hey,  rena!  ”  she  called  out,  smile  growing  just  a  touch  wider  and  more  honest  as  she  caught  the  blonde  in  her  sights,  “  i  was  going  to  order  you  a  drink,  but  i  wasn't  sure  what  you  would  actually  want  so  instead  i  ordered  us  two  orders  of  fries,  hope  that  works  !  "
