Okay so I was watching season 2 of Stranger things again and when I watched the Halloween episode it got me thinking of the actual ghostbusters movie. This may sound crazy (because I am) but I lowkey thought the choice of Mike and Lucas being Venkman was on purpose.

Mike dresses as Venkman, whose story in Ghostbusters is literally about falling for Dana, the woman who gets possessed. In Stranger Things, Will is the one who gets possessed by the Mind Flayer, which makes Will the Dana to Mike’s Venkman. Then on the day of Halloween when they show up to school in their outfits, Will smiles and points at Lucas saying “Venkman!”. Since Mike is dressed as Venkman too he doesn’t realise Will is talking about Lucas and thinks Will is smiling at him. Mike realises that Lucas is dressed as Venkman too and tells him that “there can only be one Venkman” which to me is basically like saying there is only one guy for Will and it’s me.
