So, what mundane headcanons do you have for the GSA squad? I like to think Yamikage usually hangs out in the shadows until he's needed or whenever he gets to use it to intimidate people.
in the case of my gijinka animeverse:
Yami: when he is not spending time with the pookies it's very likely he and falspar snuck out of the barracks to drink and smoke. If he is not doing that he is in the shadows less to look cool and more like to listen to people talk because he is an old man and gossip is fun even if he utterly denies it's for gossip reasons.
Tsukimori (his species) are naturally intimidating and scary so he doesn't need to do much in that department fdjkfjdks.
Falspar: he will sneak out to get stuff from nearby towns; cigarretes, sweets, non canned food, anything he can get his hands on. The only thing he won't get is beer because he brews his own at the base (don't tell Arthur!)
Dragato: when he is working with the base's systems it's not rare to see him applying some makeup while the systems diagnostics run or reading the latest fashion magazine (that he could get his hands on). He is probably hacking the intercoms to play music in the middle of combat drills while he is at it as well.
Arthur: Honestly people who might know him to some degree might find him boring because he is constantly doing work and when not working he is training, sometimes Nonsu joins him when he is doing archery (Nonsu does axe throwing).
Secretly though, he sometimes makes time to do some embroidery work.
Nonsu: same as Arthur. Because he is also a workaholic he spends tons of time in the forge making/maintaining weapons and armor. He is nearly deaf so he can't enjoy music but that doesn't stop his apprentices from blasting the Best Hits of the 80s (tm) at full volume annoying everyone else.
Meta Knight, Garlude and Jecra sneak out to go on to towns to get snacks and candy, yes, they encounter falspar in there often but he is a good sport so he only tells them "I saw nothing, you saw nothing" and everyone goes their merry way.
Meta Knight thinks he is sneaky when bringing sweets but Garlude and Jecra know, oh they know.
Falspar was the third Astral recruited into the GSA by Arthur during the organization’s early days. While searching for new members, Arthur and Nonsurat traveled to the planet Fjordia after detecting signs of surviving life. Upon arriving, the two quickly realized the planet had been completely overrun by demon beasts.
During their search for survivors, Arthur and Nonsurat were ambushed by a pack of Ice Dragon demon beasts. Before either Astral could respond, the creatures were suddenly cut down by a mysterious man wielding a massive sword. The beasts’ blood stained the surrounding snow as the stranger approached the two with a stern expression before casually greeting them with a smile, saying, “G’day!, a bit of a chilly day we’re having, ain’t it?” The unusual contrast between his appearance and personality left both men confused.
The man later introduced himself as Falspar and brought Arthur and Nonsurat to his cabin. There, he explained the fate of Fjordia. According to Falspar, the planet had been invaded by military forces belonging to the Holy Nightmare corporation. Unlike other worlds conquered by Nightmare, Fjordia was not used for experimentation or exploitation of it's resources. Instead, the entire planet was converted into a breeding ground for demon beasts.
Falspar attempted to resist the invasion and defend his homeland, but he was ultimately overwhelmed and left for dead. When he eventually regained consciousness, he discovered that his village had been destroyed and its inhabitants, including his family, had been killed.
At some point after the invasion, the planet became trapped in a permanent winter. Whether this phenomenon was caused directly by Nightmare’s influence remains unknown. Despite the planet’s destruction, Falspar chose to remain behind, unable to move on from the loss of his family and driven by his hatred toward Nightmare.
Recognizing both his strength and resolve, Arthur offered Falspar the opportunity to join the GSA and fight against Nightmare directly. Falspar accepted the offer without hesitation.
Personality
Falspar is best described by his warmth and approachable nature. Despite his imposing appearance, he is highly friendly and tends to treat strangers like longtime companions even shortly after meeting them. Those who serve under him regard him as a patient mentor and dependable leader who prioritizes the safety and well being of his allies above all else.
Although intelligent and experienced, Falspar is somewhat absent-minded when not focused on combat or serious matters. His relaxed demeanor and occasional airheaded behavior often cause others to underestimate him.
Beneath his cheerful personality, however, Falspar harbors a deep hatred toward Nightmare and demon beasts due to the destruction of Fjordia and the loss of his family. He is known to show little mercy toward non-humanoid demon beasts, often killing them without hesitation. However, he has demonstrated reluctance toward killing humanoid demon beasts, as many of them are believed to have once been ordinary people transformed against their will.
some info about this goof:
-Prior to joining the GSA, Falspar used to be a farmer and a hunter. One of his many specialties was brewing mead and beer. Although Arthur disapproved of alcohol consumption within the organization, Falspar still managed to secretly brew drinks to celebrate successful missions, often with Yamikage's help.
-Falspar frequently cooked for his squad.
-Due to his partially Mexican heritage (or well… the space equivalent), he was especially fond of preparing carne asada whenever fresh meat was available instead of standard canned rations.
-He possesses an exceptionally good singing voice and was known for singing loudly while showering.
-Aside from Arthur, Falspar is considered one of the GSA’s most skilled trackers of demon beasts, largely due to his background as a hunter.
-Falspar possesses physical strength far above that of the average Astral, enough to rival members of the Tsukimori species.
-Unlike most Astrals, Falspar is notably social and approachable. Arthur believes this is because Falspar is extremely confident in his own strength and therefore does not fear other members of his species.
-Among the Astral Generals, Falspar is the second most well traveled.
-Has an aussie accent.
-Falspar lost one of his arms near the end of the war and later replaced it with a prosthetic.
-He possessed extensive knowledge of edible plants and wilderness survival, to the point that some considered him a “walking foraging encyclopedia.”
Dragato is one of the youngest generals within the GSA and the current leader of its Tech and Mechanics Division. Unlike many of his peers who joined the army in pursuit of glory, freedom, or a sense of duty. Dragato was driven by survival and a desire for revenge.
Very little is publicly known about Dragato’s early life. Based on his skillset, it is widely believed that he may have been involved in illicit or underground activities prior to his involvement with the GSA.
At some point, Dragato was abducted by Holy Nightmare corporation's research division and subjected to experimentation as part of the Metaknightmare Project, a secret project to create a demon beast-astral hybrid. Over the course of several years he endured extensive and invasive medical procedures. Although he did not convert into a demon beast fully, Dragato was left with significant physiological alterations, including: Enlarged canines, blood cravings increased aggression and partially having some of his body revert to Dark Matter.
Despite the condition he was left in, Dragato managed to escape captivity and went into hiding in a remote impoverished quadrant of the galaxy. There, he struggled to survive with minimal access to medical care while dealing with the side effects the experimentation left him with.
He was eventually discovered by GSA scouts responding to reports of demon beast activity in the area. Afer a quick assesment of his condition, they offered him medical assistance and refuge, allowing him to begin his recovery.
Dragato’s recruitment into the GSA is largely attributed to Arthur, he isn't sure how but the older astral got ahold of information regarding his past but Arthur took a serious interest in his technological and mechanical skills and after some…persuasion, Dragato agreed to join the organization.
His decision was influenced by two things: a desire to retaliate against Nightmare and the realization that he didn't have much of a choice as he would likely remain a fugitive otherwise.
During his early time in the GSA, Dragato formed close bonds with several members, formed a deep friendship with both Falspar and a new recruit named Meta Knight and developed a deep romantic relationship with the Ninja division's leader, Yamikage.
Personality:
Dragato is known for being extremely sassy and direct. The man exudes confidence and he is not afraid to voice his opinions.
He is a social butterfly and has no problems making new friends whenever he goes, notably making friends with most of the members of the more reserved Ninja Division.
his very playful disposition has earned him a reputation of being a flirt (the winks don't help)
Dragato is deeply loyal and protective toward those he considers allies, particularly his subordinates. His approachable nature and genuine care for others have made him one of the most well-liked generals within the GSA next to Falspar.
Some fun facts:
Has a love for fashion and makeup only rivaled by his love for robotics
Has been known to flirt to get his way, he knows he is good looking and fully exploits this.
Constructed a security robot using rock star's Pix as a base (he and Haltmann had the same idea...)
Taught Meta Knight how to construct a fully functional ship from scratch out of junk (this would help Meta in the creation of the halberd)
Frequently engages in pranks alongside Falspar, much to Arthur’s ongoing frustration
Is surprisingly good at cooking, alas Yamikage was unable to enjoy most of his dishes.
Despite looking "frailer" than the other generals he is very strong and horrendously fast.
Because of Holy nightmare's experiments he is on a very weird limbo between demon beast and astral. He isn't very sure how to feel about that.
After war developed a trauma response to the sound of cracking or shattering glass which can send him into a panic spiral
Nonsurat (Nonsu, for Friends) was one of the first members of the GSA to be personally recruited by Arthur. Prior to joining the mercenary group, life on his home planet had turned from peaceful and uneventful to difficult as the Haltmann Works Company arrived and started to aggressively mechanize both the population and the surrounding environment. NME certainly did not help by offering demon beast and mercenary services to the planet's upper classes.
Nonsurat's initial encounter with Arthur was far from friendly. As members of a highly competitive and solitary species, Astrals are naturally hostile toward one another; alliances and friendships are a rarity and don't last long. When Arthur first attempted to recruit him, he was met with an axe swung dangerously close to his face. Despite this reception, the older Astral remained undeterred, having taken a strong interest in Nonsurat's exceptional skill as a blacksmith.
Following several confrontations between the two (very common for Astrals seeking alliances) Nonsurat eventually agreed to join Arthur's growing army. His decision was influenced mainly by the worsening situation under Haltmann Works Company's control over his planet and the increasing demon beast activity, which left him with little to no options (like hell he was going to be mechanized).
Although Nonsurat initially expected a strictly professional arrangement, his relationship with Arthur gradually evolved into something closer. Despite Arthur's tendency to keep his distance from most people the two found common ground through shared interests and survived numerous close calls together. Over time, these experiences forged a deep and genuine friendship.
Personality:
Outside of the workshop where he makes the weapons and armor of the GSA Nonsu is a very reserved, shy and soft spoken person who mostly keeps it to himself. His blunt and straightforward mannerisms can make him come across as an insensitive jerk, which doesn't make him particularly popular with those who don't know him well.
Inside the workshop he has the attitude of a drill sergeant to his apprentices; demanding and strict, but ultimately a good teacher. Metalwork is his pride and joy and nothing short of perfection should come out of his workshop. He is also known for working dangerously close to the furnace; while this would be very dangerous for most species (and by extension his apprentices), Nonsu developed a resistance to fire and high temperatures after surviving a near fatal encounter with a dragon demon beast.
some fun facts about this lil brick:
His hobbies include but are not limited to: jewelry making, axe throwing and nail art
He was raised and taught blacksmithing by a woman who was a descendant from one of the apprentices of the photron who forged Galaxia
as such he knows the basics of weapon enchantment, he only lacks the magic to do so
he is so good at armor making that he can detect flaws on armor and break it without much effort
every single time when the GSA celebrated a victory and alcohol was included Nonsu would go from wall flower to the life of the party.
is probably autistic
he might be the slowest of the big 4 at long range combat but he is unfairily fast as soon as you are in his range
has abnormally thick skin, this did not save him from getting almost burned to death but you'll find that most blades break when trying to stab him
because he used to live off his jewelry work he is actually a very good salesman
Sorry that I'm dropping this on you, but since you've uploaded your take on Sir Arthur I wanted to ask something about him for a while but never found the right time to ask ya.
Given his obsession with Galacta Knight, and what you've shown when he and the rest find out about Meta and Gala being a couple. Nevermind being Kriby's adopted parents. Would Arthur feel jealous of his former student? Or would he feel proud of Meta instead?
What exactaly those Arthur and Meta think about each other? I know you said adults gets mask of politeness and just showed us a rough pic of that, but is Meta a bit different to Arthur?
Sorry once again for asking, I just wanted to know.
he is very jealous...but he doesn't lash out at Meta Knight because he is self aware enough to know his feelings while valid (as in he is not some emotionless brick) aren't exactly rational. He can live with that even if he doesn't like it (plus he really likes Kirby, if Meta makes both Kirbs and Gala happy, he is happy)
as for what do they think of eachother; While others saw Arthur's pleasant and charming mask. Meta saw a teeensy bit of his actual personality when he was training under him after Yamikage's betrayal.
The blue knight finds Arthur incredibly intimidating and cold, he still respects him a lot, he was his second mentor after all! and that training was very very helpful when he was the only active GSA member after the fall.
Arthur on the other side really disliked Meta's use of chivalry in the middle of a war and made it his mission to beat it out him, yes chivalry is good, but this is a goddamn war not a fencing match.
Still, he is very proud of how Meta has come along in these few centuries, even if he keeps a distant and polite coldness to his former pupil (not odd behavior for astals tbh).
tldr: Meta respects Arthur a lot but is very intimidated by the old man so he is very polite and sometimes meek with him, Arthur is polite and somewhat friendly but distant to MK (he likes Meta but not as much as he likes Kirby for example)
Doing my GSA gijinkas' ramble charts little by little, Starting with the man himself, Sir Arthur!
As a result, Arthur’s early life was defined by hardship and hunger.
There’s so much to say about this guy, but I’ll keep it as short as possible.
Arthur was an Astral born during one of the most tumultuous periods another dimension had ever seen right after the fall of Halcandra. Countless remanant empires were fighting over what was left of it, it was an era of chaos and bloodshed.
To make matters worse, at the time Astrals were viewed as pests believed to attract dark matter and misfortune so most children who landed on planets were killed out of fear (if the adult astrals didn't get to them first).
One day, while searching for food near one of Lord Aeon's temples on his home planet, he was attacked and mortally wounded by a beast made out of dark matter. As Arthur lay dying, he saw the silhouette of a winged man descending to slay the monster.
The next time he woke up, he was in the arms of none other than Galacta Knight. The demigod had treated Arthur with a kindness no one had ever shown him in his (then short) life. From that moment on, Arthur decided to become a berserker Knight just like them.
Personality:
Arthur presents as kind and friendly on the surface so convincingly that most believe this is his true nature. In reality, he’s a cold and serious person who keeps others at arm’s length. He sees no point in vulnerability or emotional attachment.
The one person he’s allowed close is Sir Nonsurat, with whom he formed a strong bond during the early days of the GSA.
Despite his guarded nature, he shows genuine compassion toward animals and children. Adults (with the exception of Nonsurat) typically get the mask of politeness.
Trivia about this guy:
Technically speaking, he’s a reanimated corpse. Unlike the mages, his body is far more stable; but like the girls, his soul isn’t exactly attached to it. (Galacta was still getting the hang of necromancy back then, so the work was a bit sloppy.).
He is very flexible (like…contortionist levels of flexible).
He is completely incapable of feeling fear or dreaming. When he sleeps, it’s a black void until he wakes up.
Bears the "blessing" of Aeon’s Blood, a trait shared by all berserkers.
Due to the blessing, he’s immune to certain types of magic. So far, he knows he’s immune to mind control, but he has no interest in testing it's limits.
He is terrifying to fight in the battlefield, what he lacks on any magical skill he compensates in raw strength and speed which is a product of the brutal training he endured to become a berserker at age 15.
Ages horrendously slow. In his 40s, he looked like he was in his 20s; now in his 80s, he appears to be in his 40s. He likely has a much longer lifespan than the average Astral.
Can spend months without eating and when he eats it tends to be very little (his body stopped needing nourishment after Gala revived him), this doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy food but he tends to forget to eat A LOT.
It’s very difficult to tell when he’s being genuine or pretending. Even Nonsurat who is very close to him, struggles with this.
His hair and nails grow at an alarmingly fast pace, so much that he needs a haircut every two weeks.
for his relationships to other GSA members here is a hastily made doodle
Dragato and Yamikage used to be paired up a lot when the former was promoted to the rank of general — not only so Yami could show him the ropes, but also because the GSA was much smaller back then, and there weren’t as many generals around to help Dragato out.
They got along fairly easily because Dragato is very easygoing when it comes to work-related stuff, and Yami — despite being a grump — is a pretty agreeable guy as long as you mind your own business.
