First of all, thanks to all of you who took the time to complete the form. I won't be closing it (it's still available here), but I won't be checking it as often moving forward (today's date is June 8th).
I made it because I wanted to find out 1. why did so few people participate in the Spideydevil event, 2. what could be done so that more people participate in any potential future events, and 3. what kind of events would the fandom be interested in.
I'm not going to do a line-by-line (or chart-by-chart lol) analysis of the responses (though if anyone's interested in those, please let me know), but here come a few observations:
Re: participation, it seems that most people (over 70%) just didn't find out about the event.
Some people (almost 50%) would be interested in joining an event Discord server.
Re: the kinds of events, the big winners are fanwork exchanges and theme weeks, followed by low pressure events (think bingos, prompt lists...).
I'm in the planning stage right now. Again, I appreciate all of your responses. I already have a few ideas, so keep an eye on this blog :)
Also: I am looking for at least another mod to help me out. Some of you offered, which I'm very grateful for, but I'd like at least one more person. If anyone would be interested please let me know!

i’m actually so, so mad that i missed this event - i just discovered this blog like 2 seconds ago !!!!! is this going to be a recurring event, or are there other ones planned this year?

i originally created this blog with the idea of doing more events, yeah. but that hinged on how many people engaged with and participated in the first one.
unfortunately participation was pretty low, so at the moment and for now i personally don't have any future events in mind. sorry :(
In a land far away, during a time long forgotten when magic was everywhere.
There was a young man who walked down a path that he had walked many times before, one walked by his aunt, her mother, and her mother before her. One that he was taught to never stray from, under any circumstance.
Howerver, this young man, named Peter, was rebellious in few ways. This was a man who was on a mission. A mission to sasiate his own curiousity and to see if a local legend was true.
When Peter was gathering herbs, plants, and certain fungus's for his Aunt, the local witch of the woods, he would travel this path all the time. But when he was alone, he would wonder off within distance of the path. For curiosity, to satiate his adventurous spirit, but this day, he has a mission today.
A few days ago, as Peter was gathering items for a special potion for his Aunt, he left the path with his pebble trail behind him. He traveled farther than he should have, farther than he was warned to travel. So far that he started losing sight of the path his Aunt paved for him.
But there was a calling, something pulling him down the untread trail. He walked, and walked, and walked, until he came across a giant wall of rose thorns. The brush was larger than any castle wall he'd ever seen. The roses that bloomed out of season, but were so beautiful and red that it reminded Peter of a blood. When he reached for the rose, it pulled away from him. The thorns retreted into the vines and the flowers turned into buds.
Reaching his and out made the flowers and thorns retract further until he could simply walk through the brush. Once the he was through, he saw the crumbling remains of a castle long forgotten. Castle walls on the ground and covered in vines, nature having reclaimed the structure, save for one lone tower. Tall and prestine, as if untouched by the rest of time. The vines covering the tower had sharp thorns, so sharp that Peter pricked his finger after barley touching the very tip.
Despite this, he traveled around the tower, looking for an entrance, a door, anything to help him up the tower. But nothing. The tower hovered over him, casting a shadow over Peter like the oppressive towers of the local kingdom's walls did. But there was a window at the very top of the tower. One with a light that called to Peter. To climb the towers walls.
Who was he to deny his curiosity, the need to see what was at the top of the tower.
Within his satchel, Peter got his rope, a sythe he made himself to help cut the more stubborn plants, and the herbes that he had gathered for his Aunt. The rope was tied to the handle of the sythe, hoping he brought enough rope to reach the window.
He threw it once, it fell down, but it was just enough to hit the window sill.
He threw it again and it clincked but fell down again.
On the third try, did the sythe finally catch. Three tugs and Peter knew it was secure.
Once Peter had made it to the top of the tower, his hands burn and his feet stuck to the walls as best as he could.
But he made it.
Within the tower, there was a bedroom. A room bigger than house he and his aunt lived in. In the middle of this room was a grand bed. A bed grander than Peter had ever seen. But there was a man, a beautiful man, with hair as red as the sunrise,his face was peaceful, lips parted and pink, and the man was breathing.
Never in his life had Peter ever seen a man so beautiful. He wanted to run his fingers through his hair, he wanted to hold the hand of this sleeping prince. The man must have been a prince. He had to be.
Peter kneeled next to the Prince, who had began to stir. He waited as the Prince awoke, rising in the bed. The man looked around and didn't seem to notice Peter. That was until he felt Peter's hand.
"You." The man said, with a smile, his voice quiet after having not spoken in years.
"Me?" Peter asked as the man's hands cupped his face.
"Yes. You. You came for me." The man smiled as he leaned in closer, placing a kiss on Peter's cheek. Part of him wanted him to kiss his lips.
"I didn't know you would be up here. I came up here to see what treasure could be kept in such a tower."
"It does not matter. I was cursed and was told that once I awaken, my true love would be there waiting for me."
"True love?" Peter laughed at that idea. "True love is a tale for children. I am no one's love. I am a simple ward of a witch."
The man laughed at that bringing Peter up to fall into bed. There, Peter's heart fluttered as the man hugged him close, his head resting on the prince's chest. Listening to a beating heart so fast that he worried the Prince would keel over. But he didn't. And Peter didn't want to move from the softest sheets he'd ever felt.
"Can I ask your name, ward of a witch?" Asked the Prince.
"Give me your name then you shall have mine." Peter said. Knowing damn well this could be a fay trick.
The Prince smiled, running his fingers through Peter's hair, it felt comforting.
"My name is Matthew Micheal Murdock, Prince of these lands. Though considering it's been 100 years. I think that title means nothing anymore."
"One hundred years?"
"Yes, before I explain, I would like to know the name of my true love. If you wish to be that for me?"
This was a question Peter had never considered before. He had a few girls he kissed in the village, but these kisses were in secret, because their fathers never approved of him and thus he had been chased off with a broom more than once. It took a while for Peter to give up on being in love or being loved by anyone.
He never considered he would find someone who would want to be his love or ask him if that's what Peter wanted.
Peter pondered this for a moment, looking at the man and his pale grey eyes, the way he liked how Matthew ran his hands through his hands, and what a mystery this man was, a mystery he'd like to learn and solve.
"Peter. My name is Peter."
"Peter, Peter. I like it. I like you."
"You accepted this very quickly."
That made Matthew laugh and kiss Peter's forhead. It made him flush with a warmth he hadn't felt since he first kissed the lovely Gwendolyn. A kiss he never forgot up until he stared at Matthew's lips. Lips that he could kiss if he wanted. And lord did he want to kiss this man.
"I was told at a young age that I would sleep for one hundred years then meet my true love. I wasn't sure who that would be, but out of anyone. I'm glad it's someone as interesting as a ward of a witch."
That was enough for Peter, to let himself kiss this prince. To let himself give in to these flush feelings of a budding love. Was it reckless? Some would say yes. But Peter, ward of a witch, would always be a reckless man.
