actually make it angstier by separating johnny from his family, they got to live relatively normal heroic lives while he was used and abused secretly by whatever agency who threatened him into complacency by saying they’d make it so his family public image would go down as well and that he’d be better with the agency since they can provide a use/outlet for his powers that can only otherwise be used for destruction (so he will never be accepted by the general public anyways)
eventually for one reason or another johnny and peter cross paths, johnny has a target whose case for some reason spider man is investigating into too
johnny, disguised as a civilian that just always happens to be in right place, slowly learns more about spidey/peter, empathizing w him while indignant for the unfair treatment of spiderman by the public, especially when he’s just a teenager even if he has powers
thinking bout it, this is probably better set in a post NWH au since peter never got to finish hs and has essentially lost his entire life, because johnny, who spent his teenage years experimented on and training, can relate to not getting to have normal teenage experiences (albeit even less than peter got to) and as someone working as a secret agent, is displaced and unable to have any settled lifestyle therefore lacking attachments just like peter
throughout their meetings, they try to recreate high school experiences peter had missed out on (insert cute slow dancing scene on some rooftop as their “prom”)
things between peter and johnny finally come to a head when they both finally reach the target, and johnny reveals the truth of him being an agent and tries to take the target out while peter tries to dissuade him from using lethal means
they fight to a standstill and peter, like denji, tries to convince johnny to meet him somewhere and start a new life together, that he doesn’t have to live this way and that he is more than the destruction his powers can incur
initially johnny, like reze, turns away but when the time comes to meet, he tries desperately to go back to peter but before he can reach the door, is taken out by his agency for attempting to defect
