Fireworks Photos: Tacoma's 4th of July Freedom Fair
Fireworks Photos: Tacoma’s 4th of July Freedom Fair
On July 4th, Independence Day, the day doesn’t seem complete until we’ve taken some fireworks photos here at Tacoma’s Freedom Fair. Here are some of my favorites.

Happy Independence Day!
One of Tacoma's hidden secrets is the view from the Center for Urban Waters. It is across the Foss Waterway from downtown in a kind of industrial area of town, but it provides some excellent views of the waterway and of the city.
Seattle's historic Federal Office Building may be the site where the city's founders first docked after surveying the Puget Sound area. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Office_Building_(Seattle,_Washington)

Dandelions in the Morning
Dandelions in the Morning
[wheretobuy]
I was walking through Wright Park on a recent morning when I saw the sun shining through a cluster of dandelions up the hill from where I was. I moved in to take the shot, and this is what I got. I love how the sun shines on the puffs of white.
Normally, you wouldn’t think of dandelions as being a great subject for a photograph. You tend to think of the dandelion as simply a nuisance…

Crying Tree in Tacoma’s Wright Park
Crying Tree in Tacoma’s Wright Park
Crying Tree, Wright Park
One subject I frequently photograph are trees. I am especially drawn to trees that have interesting shapes. Abstract sculpture, in general, often draws my eye. Tree shapes are one form of nature’s sculptures.
The knots in this tree caught my eye as I was headed back to my car after making photographs around downtown Tacoma. This tree is on the edge of Wright Park, and I…
