Gascoigne sighed, his breath coming out in a heavy gust. “That does give me some comfort. Who knows, perhaps there is something I can learn from you. I still can’t shake the feeling that no matter what we do, it’s just a matter of time. The beasthood isn’t something you just get better from, no, it just gets worse. Worse and worse until the creature that’s been growing inside you tears its way out of you, warping your flesh and bone into something you’re not, sometimes in an instant. Those who resist the most create the worst beasts. If I continue to fight for too long, then who will be the one to put me down when the time comes? It’s a terrible balancing act… I want every second of sanity I can hold onto, but every second I do, I make it worse for whoever… whoever has to deal with me in the end. I don’t want to accidentally kill innocent people. Especially my family… Even you can’t protect them if… if they…” Gascoigne trailed off, unable to bear the mere thought of killing his own family.

“Though… you’re an outsider. One who’s been on the outside much more recently than I have. Perhaps there’s something you know that none of us here do? I hate to be so loathsome and dire, but… you may be my last chance. If there’s not something that can be done soon, I would rather have your axe at my throat while I can recognize the gesture than have my claws at yours, unable to recognize who you are.”

He nodded silently, pondering on what Gascoigne said. He understood where the other man came from – he understood it very well. Had he known of what he was about to become after being attacked by the devilish creature in the forests a year ago, he would have asked someone to put a bullet in his head as well. “An outsider I am, though I'm not entirely sure what portion of my knowledge exactly might be of help in this case”, Bedrich eventually replied and scratched his neck. He remembered the man who had been helping him to adjust to this new “life” as a wendigo had mentioned Yharnam in passing, as well as a whole lot of other things that he hadn't really understood back then, but that he had memorized anyway. Bedrich wondered if that man might know more, but he had no idea of how to contact him, other than leaving Yharnam to search him – which might take too long for his friend to hold onto his remaining sanity until it was too late. “I heard about other things, other creatures like me that were able to be treated with a bunch of things. Like eating venison will give my own hunger a little more time”

A furious flush of red burned at his ears when Nikki laughed, but he held his tongue, confident that he would at least answer that at some point. No need to embarrass himself further by stuttering out half-formed questions.

He closed his eyes and focused on the kiss when Nikki gave him one, doing anything he could to chase away the fluster that scrambled his brain. Once the kiss was done, he looked up at Nikki with big, curious yet confused eyes. “Well, I suppose that’s the best way to learn, is by seeing and doing,” he ventured, sparing a brief and blush-inducing glance down at the bump on Nikki’s trousers.

“Exactly”, Nikki replied, still a small grin on his lips. He readjusted his own position a bit so Niko could sit comfortably on his lap and went for another kiss, longer this time in hope of calming him down a little more. Becoming impatient now would only destroy everything – he had been waiting long enough, so a few more minutes would be fine, too.

“I-I mean, I know you won’t force me into anything!” he said in a rush. “I know that much. What I mean is that… well, that’s what people do when they l-love one another, right? It’s not forced, but it is a sign of their love, and… and such.” Stumbling over his words, Niko took a moment to collect his thoughts once more.

“B-because of that, I want to try it, for you. Of course I do. I just… don’t really know how. I mean, I know enough about like… where things go but–” He stopped, an odd expression flashing across his face. “But wait, you’re a male too. H-how…?”

Nikki laughed upon hearing Niko's question, grinning a bit to himself and ruffling the other's hair. “We'll get to that one later”, he said, holding back a giggle – Of course Niko wouldn't know how that worked, but he didn't want to go for it right now anyway. Starting slow would most likely be the key to avoid that Niko straight up fainted from blushing too hard. “For now there's … Hm, I'm not good at explaining this kind of stuff to be honest ...”, he continued and then simply put a finger under Niko's chin to make him look up and give him a kiss. “How about I just show you?”

Niko sighed a little and leaned into Nikki’s touch, trying to calm the raging torrent of disjointed thoughts going through his head. “I-I love you too,” he said haltingly, still nervous enough to stutter. “I-I mean, I guess I couldn’t be objected to the uh… the things. That’s what you do with a lover, right? That’s what you’re supposed to do? I think that should be okay,” he muttered, looking into Nikki’s eyes and trying to gauge his feelings on the situation.

He raised his brows a little at what Niko said – there was so much uncertainty in the redhead's voice that it made him worried that he was still too scared. “... What you're supposed to do? … Niko, this isn't something I'll force you into, you know”, he said, concerned that he might be pushing things too much. Nikki was still confused about the fact thet Niko seemingly didn't know anything about it, but at the same time he didn't want to overwhelm the other one. He was still running his hands through the scholar's hair and gently pulled him into a hug, even though it might've been a bit of an awkward one. “As I said, if you don't want to, we don't have to do anything … but if you want to try, you'll have to tell me if something makes you uncomfortable, alright?”

So much blood was rushing to Niko’s face that he was worried that a blood vessel was either going to burst in his cheek, or he’d end up getting a spontaneous bloody nose from the pressure. He reached up to his nose for a moment, just to make sure.

“M-m-masturbated?” he stuttered. “W-well, n-no, not really. It’s forbidden. A sin. The church said not to, s-so I followed that commandment. My mother said that I belong in heaven, and my father said you do that by following the teachings, and so… I… uh… no,” he said sheepishly, his head hurting from all the embarrassment. He set his sewing down and buried his face in his hands in a futile attempt to hide his blush, which burned under his fingers. He must look and sound so ridiculous. He knew that all the other men at university loved to speak about all their ‘sex accomplishments’ and other things like that, but Niko had never really been interested in such a thing. It rarely even crossed his mind. So having it pop up all of a sudden, with Nikki being so baffled in his questioning, he felt like he was some kind of oddity for not doing such things. He simply wanted to be good! Was he odd for it?

“... Oh”, was all that came from Nikki for some moments. This answer wasn't what he had suspected at all. He loved Niko and he really wanted to go on, but at the same time now worry came to his mind, making him unsure about how to proceed. How did you deal with someone who seemed to haven't even thought about pleasuring himself at one point? He eventually started running his fingers through Niko's hair again, trying to make him feel comfortable and ease his nervousness. “You know, I don't think it's a sin”, he said calmly, “I love you, Niko. And if you want, I can show you some things – but I won't do anything that would make you feel bad or that you're not comfortable with. Because I want you to enjoy it, too”

Niko’s mouth moved uselessly as he stared up at Nikki, his mind feeling like it was simultaneously whirring with confusion and slogging along at a snail’s pace. “M-m-more than just kisses?” he stammered, glancing down again. “S-seductive? I was just sewing! I–” he cut off, his brain freezing up.

He looked at Nikki, his eyes wide. “I don’t even know what to do,” he whispered, ducking down out of embarrassment.

He grinned at what Niko said, gently running his finger through the other's hair. “Well, you've been … moving around quite a bit”, Nikki replied and bent down to give the scholar a small kiss. He would have continued, if not for Niko's next remark. Nikki looked at him with a somewhat confused expression. Not knowing what to do could mean a lot. “You don't –?”, he started to say, but went with something different instead halfway into his question. “... Have you ever masturbated?” For him, this question was the most logical thing to ask. Because he had figured out relatively early that most people weren't too different if it came to that topic – just that everyone had their certain preferences.

“Put my sewing away?” he echoed, confused, shifting a bit once again to turn around to look at Nikki, but his movements brought on a realization that made his mouth drop open and his cheeks and ears flush red as he glanced down where he was sitting.

He looked back up at Nikki, his blush only growing as the tiniest, shyest little “Oh,” slipped past his lips.

A smile appeared on his lips that could hardly be described as embarrassed. Amused might have been a more fitting term. He laughed just the smallest bit, putting his hand under the other's chin and gently running his thumb across his lips. “You know, I … actually want a little more than just kisses, as great as they are”, Nikki said while his fingers wandered to Niko's hair again. “And I can't really influence what my body does when you're being so subconsciously seductive”, he added with a laugh.

Niko worked on his sewing, deeply enjoying the feeling of Nikki’s hands through his hair. At this point, he hardly even noticed the distant thunder. Though despite what a relatively comfortable position this was for cuddling, it proved to be somewhat inconvenient for sewing, forcing him to readjust his position quite often to keep his arm from cramping. He wriggled back down each time to ensure he had found a secure spot and was still enveloped by Nikki and the blanket, hoping that this elbow on Nikki’s leg wasn’t too sharp or bothering him at all as he used it to steady his hand that held the fabric.

“You make a very comfortable seat,” Niko mused. “Sorry for moving around so much!”

It was hard for Nikki to stay focused with how much Niko moved, especially without distraction around. He was still running his hand through Niko's hair, eventually getting lost in thought, when the redhead spoke again. “Hm? Oh, it's alright”, he mumbled and sighed a bit, leaning down enough to give him a small kiss on those lovely ginger curls. “You know … you can go on moving, but then I'd have to ask you to put away your sewing”, the albino added, one hand resting on the other one's chest. There was no use trying to hide what Niko's movements were causing. So why not go one step further in their relationship?
