Introduction about different kind of spirits who live in the woods. All images in all my posts are my own.

Well..I have met him few times before.

He is one of the weirdest kemeleont style spirits. Every time he has succeed to surprice me. This time he thought to appear in mossy crag I was passing by.

Right when I came close enough, He coughed some dust and soil from his rocky mouth.

So I startled a bit.

There are no any reasons to be scared about him, but I was so focused to care my steps that he scored about this.

Every time we have had some important topic to talk, and often it’s something about nature.

But, now he just wanted me to take some good portraits about his rocky habitus.

He liked my shots. I got promised that next time when we meet, He will come together with someone of his friends. Wow ! That would be an honour.

The mighty gatekeeper spirit of old untouched forest in Finland. We had long talk about overall condition of nature. Then of course talked about rules which spirits have set to be obeyed without any exceptions. He was worried about damages which some unconcerned people had done there. Some bad hikers had ripped moss from rocks and damaged some innocent trees with an axe. They had also set campfire in wrong place. That’s unforgivable operation in his area. At first he was a bit angry to me too, without any reason. He was so disappointed about those earlier bad hikers, so I got some of his anger too. Soon he noticed that I’m not bad kind of hiker. I have deep respect to nature, so I know how to operate in there. I did some refurbishment operations which were possible. I got captured his angry look with my camera. I can say that It was very nice to meet this mighty spirit.

Sometimes even I need to sharpen all my instincts if want to see them. Mostly they are nearly invisible in daytime. This very old spirit of ancient rotten tree was still ”catchable”. He was so old and coaleced with green moss, soil and lichen, that it was hard to say a single word with his mouth.

So, we just greeted each other friendly and thats it. I just let him to stay in serenity and walked away with one more interesting photo in my camera.

Deep in the forest, there lives many different kind of spirits. The spirit of old passed away tree lives in green lichen below the ground. As known, all of spirits usually like to stay invisible, but seems that the moment was right again. He thought to come and say hello to this eager nature photographer.

I crawled in the ground of wet forest after thunder and rain. Seeking for new interesting views in my mind. Looked though my camera and our gazes met each other with a slight ashtonishment. He appeared near in the roots of dead tree. Then threw his head out to the light and sighed deep.

Maybe I am their chosen one, beacuse I am allowed to meet those mighty ones face to face.

This time I met a kind of jovial spirit. Usually they live in same old rock, but sometimes they want to move into bigger ones. He is a hiker type moving spirit. It was pure luck that he was wandering in same forest with me. He has a hat too, like most of the hikers used to have. He also liked well grilled sausages, so we had much more to talk about. He told me that nobody hasn’t gave him anything to eat before me. Green moss has been his only meal for long time. He was grateful about sausages I served and posed to my camera without any distrust. Then we listened together noisy croacking of three ravens above in trees tops. What a day ! One of the best spirits I ever have met.

This spirit of rock thought to take a sleep in the middle of bright winter day. Meanwhile I sat at the campfire and grilled sausages. Of course we had interesting conversation about all basic things, rules in forest, weather etc. I was convincing with my cameras and heavy tripod, so he trusted me and just started to snore.

He is good friend of the spirit in my earlier post. They were been in touch to each other. He was sad about behaviour of same bad hikers. I tried to delight him a bit, but he was so down that I got captured only his gloomy sadness with my camera.

Let me introduce another spirit of mossy rocks from same forest. He had bad day because some of earlier quests were been careless about all nature rules in his area. He was obviated them hardly to stop, before damages going too massive for nature. He was still a bit down about all that.

This time I met a bit angry spritit of mossy rocks. We discussed couple of minutes about rules in that forest. She was a bit shy about my camera, but still I got captured Her beautiful smile and teeth. Maybe next time we will have more good time together.

Ancient spirit of rock watching me. I was told that he would be very angry if I don’t obey his rules. So I did and he let me took some photographs without problems. Thank you !

Ancient bearded spirit of forest appeared in mossy bedrock. He was very satisfied about my behaviour in the area that is under his control. My hiking style is good excample how to behave in forest. I got his respect and caprured his smile with my camera.

Find the spirit of rock from this landscape. This spirit likes to stay invisible in the shadows, but I saw him when he was warming a bit in daylight. Never underestimate the power of this kind of spirits. He could easily knock you down by dropping huge boulders on you by just single eyeblink. I had no problems with him, because he knows me and my cameras.

Couple of spirits of forest appears in those trees.

I can agree the feeling that someone is always watching you when wandering deep in the woods. But I can tell you more, those spirits have chosen me to make reports about them. Mostly they like to stay in the shadows when other hikers pass them. So I feel myself a very lucky person when seeing them.

The spirit of rock in winter forest. We came by cross country skiing and our plan was to sit at campfire for a while. He let us to set fire on the rocks right below him. So he must like hikers and smoke coming from burning birch wood. After some sausages we discussed about frost and winter. He avowed himself a true winter lover. I can agree that too.
