It's embarrassing, really, how unequipped Cyanne is for the whole magical-girl business.
The fight was supposed to be simple, straightforward. The abomination wasn't even a particularly strong one, just very... tenacious. Shots to the limbs, torso, and even the head (Or what used to be the head? It didn't exactly look human anymore,) only slowed it instead of stopping it.
It's not like Cyanne lacked combat experience-- that sort of training was required of a detective-- but that was training against other people, not... whatever this was. The abomination's limb (leg? arm? tail?) caught them in the torso and swung them back several blocks, colliding heavily with the brick wall of a nearby building.
Now, they're half-collapsed in a heap on the asphalt, vision swimming in and out of focus.
Their blood roars in their ears. Something warm and wet trickles down from their hairline. The beast is still there, howling and snarling like a rabid animal, snapping its jaws at the civilians still on the street. Civilians they should be protecting.
Get up, Cyanne. Damn it, get up!
Distantly, the creature shrieks, and Cyanne's already blurry vision is further impaired by a ridiculous amount of pink glitter. The darling herself, Anastasia, makes quick work of the beast with graceful, practiced movements. Soon enough the monster is taken care of, she makes her way over to... fuck, she's making her way over to them.
Anastasia is saying something, but Cyanne still can't hear over the rush of their own heartbeat. She's smiling, though, that same godawful smile she always has. They can almost hear her laughter ringing out.
She reaches down, tilting Cyanne's chin up to face her with a surprising gentleness. They try to swat her hand away, to spit some usual insult disguised as politeness, but their limbs are lead at their sides. Anastasia seems amused at the attempt, brushing her thumb along the side of their face.
They aren't sure if it's the exhaustion or Anastasia's horrible magic, but their body feels heavy. The last thing they see is her smile before they slip away into the blissful dark.
