if a fictional character gets stabbed, they have only 2 valid response options:
1. slowly raise their hand to the wound and/or pull the weapon impaling them out while everyone stares in horror before collapsing to the ground from shock and/or blood loss and being caught just in time by their friend/sibling/love interest
2. hide the wound beneath a dark item of clothing in preparation for the dramatic reveal later when another character touches them and their hand comes away bloody or they overexert themselves and they stumble and wince but still try to insist they’re fine, even though they’re clearly in pain and struggling to stay on their feet, and as the other character peels back their jacket it becomes clear that they’re badly hurt and have been for a while (bonus points if they’re wearing a white shirt underneath)

4: They turn to the person who stabbed them a pained smirk on their face as they lose blood, the manage to say "finally..the sweet embrace of death" before collapsing OORRR they manage to say "hey! Thanks for the new knife! Wait... you're not gonna want this back are y-" they almost finish however they then collapse from blood loss (or if the author is that kind of writer...for suspense before the person gets back up just fine, or something if that sort lol)

“Visited [store name]. I asked for a deal that I had a coupon for. The rude little girl told me she would not honor my coupon. I spend a lot of money at Chuck E. Cheese’s and a guest should never be told no. I asked to speak to the manager immediately. A disheveled blond man with a coffee mug came up to me and asked what the problem was. I had assumed he knew his role well enough to honor the coupon as any manager should. I told him and said ‘I know you will honor this.’ He said ‘No, I don’t think I will.’ When I told him I spend a lot of money here and it was my kids birthday he said ‘Listen Karen this is a Chuck E Cheese I can’t throw a rock without hitting 3 people whose birthday it is.’ This disgusted me. My name is Norma. He was totally ignorant, rude, and condescending. I demanded to speak to the highest management staff member of this store. He had the nerve to spin in a circle and ask me ‘How can I help you?’ I demanded the corporate phone number. He was obviously trying to entertain the young girl cashier who was giggling the entire time. Completely unprofessional and rude. Worst customer service I have ever seen in a restaurant in my entire life. He gave me a card with the district corporate number on it and I told him I would not be returning to this store and I would tell my friends to not come here either. He told me to have ‘a Chuck E Day’ which was very obviously spiteful. I was furious and appalled. He is a smug jerk. After, I went to my car to cool off and called the number on the card. The corporate employee answered and said ‘Hello again Karen how have you been?’ IT WAS THE SAME JACK*** INSIDE THE STORE. MY NAME IS NORMA.
This man needs to be fire. I am writing a letter to corporate. I will never set foot in another Chuck E Cheese again for the rest of my life and I will be telling my friends and family to do the same”

cleaning with ADHD is a nightmare. it’s an endless cycle of finding a half-finished chore and stopping the one you were already working on, then remembering that something else needs to be done and getting started on that, then finding half-finished chore and
i have the solution! i call it ‘junebugging’.
have you ever seen a junebug get to grips with a window screen? it’s remarkably persistent, but not very focused. all that matters is location.
how to junebug: choose the location you feel you can probably get some shit done on today. be specific. not ‘the bathroom’ but ‘the bathroom sink’. you are not choosing a range, you are choosing a center; you will move around, but your location is where you’ll keep coming back to. mentally stick a pin in it. consider yourself tethered to that spot by a long mental bungee cord.
go to your location. look at stuff. move stuff around. do a thing. get distracted. remember you’re junebugging the bathroom sink and go back there. look at it some more. do a different thing. get distracted. get a sandwich. remember you’re junebugging and go back to the bathroom sink.
nt’s will go crazy watching you, and if they demand to know When You Will Be Done you will probably have to roll them in a carpet and stuff them up the chimney. you’re done when you feel done, or you’re too bored to live, or it’s bedtime, or any number of other markers, you get to pick. but the thing is, by returning repeatedly to that one spot, you harness the ‘hyperactivity’ part instead of wasting all that energy battling with the ‘attention deficit’ part.
not only will the bathroom sink almost certainly be clean, and probably the mirror and soap dish too, you might’ve swapped in a fresh toothbrush, a new soap, you might’ve unclogged the drain – you will probably also have cleaned or fixed up several things in the near vicinity, or in the path between the sink and where you get the fresh toothbrush, or maybe you did your grocery shopping cuz you were out of soap, or maybe you couldn’t find a clean hand towel and ended up doing laundry.
this is good. you got shit done! it wasn’t necessarily Cleaned The Bathroom in the way nt’s think of it, but screw ‘em. things are better than they were.
plus you worked off enough energy to be able to sleep. which is not small potatoes when living the ADHD life. :D

Have I told y’all about my husband’s Fork Theory? If I did already, pretend I didn’t, I’m an old.
So the Spoon Theory is a fundamental metaphor used often in the chronic pain/chronic illness communities to explain to non-spoonies why life is harder for them. It’s super useful and we use that all the time. But it has a corollary. You know the phrase, “Stick a fork in me, I’m done,” right? Well, Fork Theory is that one has a Fork Limit, that is, you can probably cope okay with one fork stuck in you, maybe two or three, but at some point you will lose your shit if one more fork happens. A fork could range from being hungry or having to pee to getting a new bill or a new diagnosis of illness. There are lots of different sizes of forks, and volume vs. quantity means that the fork limit is not absolute. I might be able to deal with 20 tiny little escargot fork annoyances, such as a hangnail or slightly suboptimal pants, but not even one “you poked my trigger on purpose because you think it’s fun to see me melt down” pitchfork.
This is super relevant for neurodivergent folk. Like, you might be able to deal with your feet being cold or a tag, but not both. Hubby describes the situation as “It may seem weird that I just get up and leave the conversation to go to the bathroom, but you just dumped a new financial burden on me and I already had to pee, and going to the bathroom is the fork I can get rid of the fastest.”
I like this and also I like the low key point that you may be able to cope with bigger forks by finding little ones you can remove quickly. A combination of time, focus, and reduction to small stressors that can allow you to focus on the larger stressor in a constructive way.
