2D Night Market

Each time I open the big project™ on ibis the file is corrupted and needs to be restored via time lapse, I'm making copies as I go but God if I lose anything I'll be devastated ദ്ദിಥᴗಥ)

My theories/head-canons for 2D's eyes, his drug addiction and relationship with Murdoc because why not (this was originally a generic head-canon dump, but I started getting real specific halfway through lol):

- 2D's eyes turn black or white whether he was hit recently or not, it is not based on mood like they tried to explain in interviews (it's contradictory with 2D having white eyes while being at his worse during Plastic Beach and having black eyes while having a blast in Strobelite)

- Murdoc has a contradictory obsession towards 2D, when he first saw him with both black eyes he looked like a god to him and he had to make him the front man of the band. However, Murdoc is still a narcissist so 2D's godlike aura (that Murdoc imposed on him himself btw) threatens him, so when he's scared that 2D might either leave or overthrow him he resorts to violence to "keep him in check"

- 2D's painkillers addiction is the reason he still keeps Murdoc around. It started because of Murdoc's abuse so after a while he realized that if Murdoc stopped hitting him he could no longer get his hands on the drugs.

- When 2D got abducted and sent to Plastic Beach he no longer had access to his drugs and with lowered pain tolerance (thanks to the substance abuse) the only option he had left was to behave as to not piss Murdoc and get hurt (this theory ties back into my eye color reasoning). Upon their return, in the Humanz era, everything came back to normal, Murdoc resumed hitting 2D and he got back on his pills.

- After Murdoc's most recent incarceration, 2D was left again without his supply, but with the support from Noodle and Russel he managed to recover from his addiction. As Murdoc returned from jail, he noticed that 2D and the rest had a taste of what could have been without him, so he realized that he could no longer hit 2D as now there was a concrete risk of getting kicked out of the band entirely. He still misbehaves during Cracker Island, but his commitment to non-physical violence is enough to convince the other members that he can be better.

Aaaand this is it! I have some other theories about Russel tripping 2D in the Humility video, but this post would be way too long

It looks like I've calmed down with my Gorillaz hyper fixation since I haven't posted in a while, right? WRONG, 33 hours on a canvas, I've been drawing all day everyday, big things are coming, I can't wait to show you!!

Moving from Instagram to Tumblr has been the most whiplash thing that happened to me in a while and I've been here for just a couple days. No platform has felt this human and full of color to me and I'm so so grateful. I've been posting art on Instagram for ten years and it felt so isolated, I knew there was someone out there who would have connected with my art, but I was looking for them in the wrong place. I've posted only a couple things here and it has already reached the community and it has flooded me with so much appreciation that it feels unreal, it's not like I've become internet famous, but 30 likes here feel way different than they did anywhere else 💞

My personal head-canon of Miku being 2-D's sister :3

Murdoc thought that the band needed a female voice to complement 2-D's vocals. So he decided to summon a singer through a satanic ritual.

He activated the circle but he accidentally forgot his laptop inside and after a series of flashing lights Miku popped out of the screen!

I imagine her being a bit silly just like 2-D so the two of them immediately bonded over their blue hair and convinced themselves of being twins solely based on that.

I might draw some simple comic panels in the future to showcase their dynamic :p
