‘HTGAWM’: 10 teases for the season 5 premiere
There’s a new trophy in play: Annalise is teaching a new class and along with it, comes a new trophy. Remember the simple days of How to Get Away with Murder when the students’ only concern was who got to skip the exam? Hopefully this will mark a return to some of that competitive spirit. Especially since this trophy is much more valuable than the last one.
We learn a lot about Gabriel: Gabriel showed up at the end of the HTGAWM season 4 finale and is a complete mystery. He makes himself known in the season 5 premiere, and we end up learning a lot about him. It’s not exactly everything we want to know, but he’ll definitely be an intriguing addition to the season.
Annalise and Bonnie are considering their future together: There was a lot of Annalise/Bonnie drama and subtext in HTGAWMseason 4, and their relationship seems to be back on track in season 5. So much so, that they’re considering what part of their future together might be like.
The flash forward is something you’ll actually be looking forward to: Usually the flash forward scenes are all doom and gloom, but this is one that you’ll actually want to get to! Something very exciting is coming in season 5, and we can’t wait to experience it when HTGAWM catches up to itself.
…but it’s also the most disturbing one we’ve seen yet: Before you get too excited for the flash forward, know that there’s a lot more than fun being had. There’s also a highly disturbing aspect that is reminiscent of something that happened in the season 2 premiere. We can’t even imagine how the characters have arrived there!
Two characters make strides toward new relationships: Connor and Oliver were in a solid place at the end of HTGAWM season 4, but everyone else was kind of in a weird place romantically. Luckily, it looks like we’ll have some new ships to obsess over in season 5, since two lead characters take huge steps toward new relationships in the premiere.
…but two receive major romantic rejections: Unfortunately, not all of our favs are so lucky in love. Two characters put themselves out there in a big way in the season 5 premiere, but their feelings don’t seem to be reciprocated. We’ll give you one more hint. One of these happens in an established relationship, while one potential new flame is put out before it can catch fire.
Oliver delivers a moving speech that brings the group closer than ever: Read between the lines on this one. That’s all we’re saying.
…but one member is left on the outside: Not all of the Keating 5 is getting closer in season 5. One member seems to find themselves on the outside in multiple ways. Hopefully they don’t feel ostracized that it leads to that twist in the flash forward!
Annalise finds herself working with an old opponent: At this point, that could mean almost anyone in How to Get Away with Murder, so good luck figuring this one out. Annalise will find herself working in close quarters with someone who’s previously opposed her.
