"Thanks for the party!" Brandi chirped brightly, "I'll be back for my sons in a sec!" Buzz followed after, looking like a kicked puppy, "I apologize for the outburst." He mumbled at Aelia. "He's lucky I didn't get to him first.." Jenny muttered darkly while Aelia smiled, "I think that went well."
"Now, you n' I are gonna have a little chat out front so we don't bother the party," Brandi pressed, daring Buzz to argue.
"And I'll try not to scramble anything," Jill muttered.
"Shh! Ohmigosh," Beau whined, tugging on Jill's arm and glancing at Buck who was still glaring daggers at his father.
"Naw, YOU listen!" Brandi jabbed Buzz straight in the chest, "I know you're tryin' to be protective but this ain't it, Buzz, these kids aren't part of your little feud!" Buzz's face twisted in shock and shame, but Brandi steamrolled on before he could comment.
"Excuse me?!" Buzz's face grew hot with anger, "now you listen here-" The argument had drawn a crowd, specifically of two angry mothers and one awkward Aelia. Before Jenny could bring hellfire down upon Buzz, however, Brandi stepped in.
"Oh, plum off, dad!" Buck sniped back immediately.
"Uhm, sir, the only thing I scramble is eggs," Jill supplied smarmily as Beau half hid behind her with a grimace, "oh, biscuits..." In the background, Tank placed a hand to his face with a groan, he hadn't been fast enough to stop the trainwreck.
Buzz's brows furrowed, "You need to be careful, what did I tell you?" Buck sprang to his feet, instantly on the offensive, "Tank and Ripp are RIGHT there, dad! What, do you think Jill is gonna scramble my brain or some other stupid alien shit?" "Don't use that tone with me!" Buzz snapped.
Jill squealed in delight at another marble win, sitting back to grin at the two boys, "Hah, take that-"
"Buck!" A gruff voice interrupted the young girl's gloating.
"Oop-?" Jill's eyes widened, slapping her hands over her mouth and darting her gaze over to Buck who was already wincing.
On the other side of the yard, the kids played with marbles while the teens chatted amongst themselves and Tank and Alex had a friendly game of chess.
"When? After my nephew turned five? I haven't even been able to give him his gift yet!" Jenny lamented dramatically, while still keeping her tone quiet.
Pascal rolled his eyes but smiled at his older sister, "you can come visit today, okay?"
"Good," Jenny replied smugly.
While Aelia and Brandi happily bullied Buzz into letting his boys take a cooking class, Jenny took an aside with her brother.
"Now, you better have a good reason why I had to hear from Aelia about your new family member..."
Pascal winced, "uhm, I was going to tell you, I promise."
"A little cooking class, how cute!" Brandi squealed happily, waving down Buzz "Your boys should join in, too!"
Buzz looked startled, "Well... Tank is an adequate cook."
Aelia tutted softly, "cooking is an important life skill, he should be better than 'adequate'."
Buzz paused, "I suppose..."
"Speakin' of cooking!" Brandi wagged a hand with a groan, "I've been havin' a bugger teaching Dustin." "Hah, my brother Alex can't cook either," Cassandra snorted. "Oh? I quite enjoy cooking, I could teach them," Aelia suggested with an excited smile.
Buzz was uncharacteristically polite, albeit rather awkward and curt in some cases. "Thank you, Aelia, the food was great." Buzz forced an almost anxious smile.
"Oh, Nhm-ah, 'John' prepared the food!" Aelia chirped, gesturing at Nine. "Ah. Yes, it's adequate," Buzz's smile tightened.
"I am conducting an experiment!" Aelia replied, "I have researched that food 'brings people together' in sim culture and I aim to test this theory."
Nine was stunned, "but-"
"It is fine! He is a guest and therefore cannot attack anyone on my premises," Aelia assured with a confident smile.
There in the entryway was Buzz Grunt.
"Aelia!" Nine whispered urgently as he pulled her aside, "that is my arch-nemesis, Buzz-"
"Oh, yes, I am aware," Aelia nodded, causing Nine to stare in a momentary loss of words.
"Then- Why did you?" Nine sputtered out.
"I appreciate you for preparing food for this event, Nine." Aelia smiled brightly, earning a smile from the older alien.
"It is my pleasure! It is great to see everyone out-" Nine's comment halted and his eyes went wide, staring towards the side entrance to the backyard.
