Headcanons for the Spawn of Addiction;
Regarding their non binary status, Casper has never identified as either a girl or a boy. They understand both genders and feel comfortable with things from both, often taking clothing styles and aesthetics from whatever catches their eye. Thereâs been a lot of trouble over the years from those who donât understand this, though Casper finds it irrelevant and itâs one of the few things that canât get to them. No matter the scorn that will be thrown their way regarding how they identify, Casper has long since moved past the point where this topic can tempt them into losing their temper. Other things, however? That temper can be let out very easily.
Put in a life or death situation, Casper would generally end up with the latter. They couldnât lie themselves out of the situation, for starters, and when it all came down to it, theyâd likely end up letting their emotions get the best of them. This has been the reasoning behind many of their past deaths.
On the topic of death; Casper has died way more times than theyâd like to admit. Half the time itâs simply a human body giving up on them from excessive drug and alcohol consumption leading to overdoses and stupid behaviour, though other times itâs from boredom and curiousity. For example, they have tested the majority of classic ways to die and even âcelebratedâ their 400th birthday with a challenge to see just how long it could take them to push someone into shooting them dead. Their favourite deaths, however, are the ones they were stupid enough to accidentally walk in on, especially when theyâre ways that get on the news and they can sit back in their new body and watch the people talk about them.
Casper is perpetually late. No matter how hard they try, or how far ahead they plan, something will always happen to ensure they are late. Casper is pretty sure there is some kind of curse on them at this point, though others tend to assume theyâre simply flighty, which is a much more realistic and truthful explanation.
If you can imagine a puppy whoâs been injected with adrenaline, and combine it with a small child who has had way too much sugar, youâll have a pretty good summary of Casper. Though not as exuberant as those two examples, the energy levels are on point. Most of the time, Casper is overloaded with energy and needs to get it out of their system or it drives them to do stupider things than theyâd usually do. Often, youâll find them pacing, running laps til their lungs wonât let them go further, or even just standing on the spot and shaking all their limbs around in an attempt to work it all off. When theyâre not able to find a way to get this energy out, there are signs of them reaching their breaking point; twitching fingers, biting at their nails, grinding their teeth and not being able to focus on one thing for longer than a few seconds.
That being said, there are, of course, times when Casper is completely on the other end of the scale. Whether content or feeling depressed, there are times where Casper can be found curled up on the couch watching trashy tv or reading, or suckering someone into being Casperâs big spoon. These are times when they feel needy and desperate for confirmation that theyâre not useless and are worthy of the affection, and it can often be one of the best ways to ensure they donât become hyperactive and likely to end up hurting themselves with their stupidity.
Theyâre pretty much a magnet for toxic personalities. Theyâre terrible at keeping healthy relationships and toxic people are somewhat easy for them to be around. Most of the time, they donât even realize that the relationships and friendships theyâre in are bad for their mental health, so they donât bother trying to do anything about it until theyâre forced to realize whatâs going on. This has led to some dangerous situations with other people, humans included, and quite a few deaths.
Casper takes their responsibilities very seriously, though, due to their naturally sympathetic nature, theyâll often get too close to the people theyâre distributing addictions to and become a little too invested in their lives. They like to people watch, so to speak, and though they do feel sorry for the people suffering the consequences of their addictions, they like to think the people have at least done something in their life to warrant what theyâre going through. This, whether true or not, helps them deal with the worst consequences of them meddling in peopleâs lives.
Casper couldnât tell a lie to save their life. Theyâll certainly try, though, but their attempts at lying are extremely transparent and pretty much anyone could see through them if they paid attention. Itâs been this way since they were created and, no matter how many years theyâve tried to change it, and bodies theyâve had with faces that could probably get away with it on anyone else, itâs something that will probably stay with them until they die for the final time. Itâs both a blessing and a curse, really, because although it means people can trust them to tell them the truth, it means things theyâd rather keep a secret will generally find their way out.
A few of Casperâs favourite things to do include lazer tag, paintball, clubbing and attending music gigs. They can still remember the first time they ever did all four activities and they still leave them feeling whole. Clubbing and music gigs also double up as both work and pleasure, given drugs and alcohol tend to go hand in hand with each. Currently, Casper has invested in a club in Amsterdam which they ensures is always well run and will go to whenever they get the chance to. Itâs very much a 90s inspired club aesthetics wise, with neon themed everything. Signs cover the walls, though the dance floor area is surrounded by mirrors and there is always flashing strobe lights from the moment the doors open, til they close for the night. Itâs a successful business and where most of Casperâs money comes from.
It doesnât matter whether itâs day or night, the Amsterdam will always be Casperâs favourite place to go and they will always return there when they feel the need to refresh themselves. Itâs the one place on Earth that they feel comfortable no matter what and like they belong. Put plain and simple; Amsterdam will always be their home no matter what. Theyâve made a lot of friends there over the years, and though theyâve caused a hell of a lot of trouble, it holds nothing but fond memories. So far, itâs one of the few places left that theyâve not died at least once and theyâd very much like to keep it that way. Casper often likes to take people there, too, though only if they trust them and care for them as theyâre awfully protective of the place. Theyâll only show their favourite streets and haunts to those he cares most for.
Much the same as their inability to get away with a lie, Casper is extremely transparent with their emotions. Theyâre easy to read and every bit the open book cliche, and mostly, this is by their own doing. Given they generally canât get away with hiding how theyâre feeling, they just wonât bother trying it and instead will make a show of expressing themselves. Along with this, they feel very strongly and deeply, often flitting from one end of the scale to the other at the drop of a hat. From miserable to pissed off, theyâre very open about how it is theyâre feeling at that moment in time.
When Casper canât get their way, or realizes theyâre in a situation theyâre never going to win, they show it through throwing every bit of passive-aggressive attitude they have at the other person. Mostly, this will be shown through pouting, closed off body language and snide comments made under their breath. (ie. Whatever. Itâs not like I care anyway etc.)
Casper is kinda desperate for love and approval from those around them, and so whenever someone becomes friends with them, or shows interest in being with them in any way, they get extremely clingy and like to constantly be reassured the other person isnât bored of them. They like to be in contact with them as much as possible, and be physically reassured of their affections. They become much too dependent on other people, too, which is something that causes a lot of emotional turmoil when things start to go badly.
