She drags her eyes up to his face. His cheeks are flushed, eyes dark and predatory. Scully’s breath catches in her throat. What is she even doing?

“Yes… I mean… no… ” Her skin feels hot under his eyes, calling to the heat in her. A bolt of bravery hits her, and she pushes the door the rest of the way open to reveal Mulder’s lower half. He’s in the same grey sweatpants they wore the night they watched Candy’s video together, the crotch tented just as impressively as back then. She wants to reach out and touch him, take him in her hands and explore until she coaxes from him the same sounds he made that night in the warehouse.

“Jesus, Scully, what–?!” Mulder springs back from the doorway, hands flying to cover his groin. Subtle, she thinks.

She steps across the threshold into his room. Out of the corner of her eye she spots the television lit up in its entertainment center. She recognizes the scene right without needing to turn and properly look: it’s the same Cherry Li video they watched the night before encountering Reddington. She has interrupted at the point where Jimmy is going down on Candy on his desk. The tape is paused at a close-up of Candy, her face frozen in a perpetual ecstasy.

“You're watching the tape…”

"Yeah. Well, the edited version. The original went back to Brady.” Mulder looks at her sheepishly, “Is that why you’re here? Was it too loud? I can turn it down."

"No. I came over because I…I…” She forces herself to blurt it out before she can stop herself, “Mulder, I can’t stop thinking about that night we were together. I can’t…I want you, Mulder.”

Reddington’s Warehouse

Out of breath, Scully collapses next to Mulder. It’s strange to think about all that has transpired between them sexually. In fact, she’s lost count of how many orgasms she’s had tonight. More than she’s ever had before in one night, that’s for sure.

“You've really thought about it?" It’s one of the rare occasions in his life where he sounds skeptical.

“Well, yeah,” Scully pauses, faltering with her words. She hadn’t planned on admitting it to him, but it's only fair given his admission of the same. "I'll admit it's crossed my mind a time or two."

"Just a time or two, though, huh?” Mulder asks softly.

She feels her cheeks grow hot, and she hides her face in his shoulder. Nearly lost against his skin, she mumbles, “Shut up, Mulder.”

“I know exactly what you mean. If you're anything like me. It'll take you a few minutes to recover." Now that he has confirmed Scully is alright, it's time to start planning their escape. “I'm going to find out what he has planned for us.”

Scully nods, still dazed. Mulder's attention turns back to their captor. “What do you want from us, Reddington?” Mulder asks hoarsely.

“I’m so glad you asked. First, we’re going to start with the foreplay. Our little lady here is going to ride your face like the sexy minx that she is. The rest of the scenes will be a surprise. Isn't that exciting?”

Mulder's swallows. The idea of Scully riding his face is one of his most guarded fantasies. But he also feels guilt and anger over Scully being forced to do something so intimate. He looks over to Scully on the edge of the bed; she's clearly blushing.

Scully clenches her jaw. “No. I'm not going to do that.”

“It wasn’t a request.”

“And I don’t answer to you.” Her voice is stern. Mulder is glad to see she's feeling like herself again.

“Oh, well, you’re no fun. But that’s okay, I can just give Agent Mulder a little zap - that should convince you to listen...”

“Don’t listen to him, Scully! Uh, ow…” Suddenly, the metal around his dick comes alive with a painful electrical pulse that surges around his cock and balls. He yelps in pain, the surge feels like it travels right up his spine. His hair stands up on end.

Scully jumps up. “Stop! What are you doing to him?!” she yells, panicked eyes jumping frantically between Mulder’s jerking body and the direction of Reddington’s voice. “Okay, okay!”

Los Angeles, CA 11:02 AM

Mulder stands at the gate of a mid-century modern home in the Hollywood Hills overlooking the city. It is hands down one of the most impressive homes he has ever seen: a sprawling single-story structure with floor-to-ceiling windows minimally broken up by thin white columns. The abundant windows and open floor plan inside allow one to see straight through the impressive house to the striking blue pool on the other side. Its irregular shape and the contrast between bright blue against a white patio make it appear like an abstract painting. Even more impressive than the house is its view of the city: a breathtaking expanse of urban sprawl that glitters for miles. The home must cost a fortune, he wonders how the Cumming Edge Production Company can afford to film here.

This will be his first time on a porn set. Truthfully, he has always been a little curious about what goes on behind the scenes of his favorite videos. Will it be just like any other workplace? He is lost in thought when he hears a vehicle approaching. He turns to see Brady Bower pulling up in a golf cart.

“Agent Mulder, I thought that was you,” Brady says, jumping out of the golf cart. He looks hard at work with a walkie-talkie attached to his hip and a clipboard in his hand.

“Where's Agent Scully?" Brady asks, glancing behind him. Mulder wonders if he’s disappointed. He suddenly hopes Brady is married, but a glance at his left hand leaves Mulder disappointed. It hadn’t escaped his notice that Scully was a little taken with the man, even if she didn’t believe his story.

“She went to talk to some of the lab techs at the hospital, and interview Cherry Li."

“Ah.” Brady leads Mulder toward the house.

“Nice digs,” Mulder says in awe. He can’t quite place it, but he’s pretty sure he’s seen the home in a movie.

“Yeah, the owners are friends with our director. They’re out of town, and letting us use it for the shoot.”

“Very generous of them.”

Brady walks them through the home and out a sliding glass door to the pool in the back. The pool is an irregular geometric shape, making it look like an abstract painting against the stark white of the patio it sits in. Next to the pool are a half dozen reclining patio chairs, two of which are occupied by people in bathrobes. One, a handsome young man with close-cropped hair and a chiseled jaw, lights a joint and passes it to the other. The woman who takes it is a beautiful Asian woman. She has long black hair with blonde highlights and a lotus tattooed on her ankle - he recognizes her from the video he and Scully watched last night. Despite being a porn connoisseur, Mulder hadn't seen her before that tape. He wonders if she’s new to the industry. Though it’s possible he just missed her - if he were to be honest with himself, he'd admit that he's been seeking out videos with petite redheads on the cover. He has noted, but chosen not to further investigate that trend.

The woman eyes Mulder warily as he and Brady approach.

“Cherry Li, this is Agent Mulder from the FBI.”

Mulder holds out one hand for Cherry to shake while the other pulls out and holds up his badge. “Miss Li, it's nice to meet you.”

Cherry ignores his hand. She blows out a puff of pungent smoke and sets down her joint in an ashtray on the table beside her before turning back to Mulder. “You’re a Narc? I’m not going to get in trouble, am I?”

“No, no.” Mulder drops his hand and slides his badge back into his pocket. “I’m not on a drug task force. If anyone asks, I didn’t see anything. I’m actually here investigating some kidnappings in the area. Can I talk to you about your experience last week?”

“Only if Brady stays with me,” she says, looking at Brady. Mulder catalogs the trust she has in him. Even from his limited interactions with the man, he can tell Brady has a strong, calming presence on set.

“Of course, that’s fine. Brady, do you mind sticking around?”

“Sure, we're on a break anyway.”

“I’m actually a little surprised to see you here. I believe my partner, Agent Scully, was going to meet with you today.” As he speaks, Mulder notices ligature wounds around Cherry’s wrists and makes a mental note to ask about them later.

“Yeah, well, I had to cancel on her. I’ve got a kid at home and rent to pay. And in this industry, there's no such thing as sick days. If you're not working, you’re not getting paid,” she says wearily. “I’m upset, but that’s what the weed’s for.”

“I understand that. I don't want to take up too much of your time, so I'll get right to it.” Mulder starts. “I’m told you ended up in the hospital with exhaustion last week. Can you tell me what happened?”

“Well, it all started when Eugene Reddington got hired a few weeks ago. From the moment I met him, that guy gave me the creeps. I wasn’t the only one either, the other girls felt the same way; Sandy, Holly, Debbie, everyone, even the guys.”

Mulder looks over to Brady, who nods. This all matches what he told them at the diner.

“Anytime he’s around, something in the air changes. I would feel these weird shivers and I…” she stops, her expression turning gravely serious. “You're not going to believe me if I tell you what happened."

“I know it must be difficult to talk about, but believe me, I've investigated a lot of strange cases. Try me."

“He started kinda staring at me, and, without touching me, he gave me an orgasm; it was so strange. I felt awful - dizzy and confused, then I passed out. I know it was Eugene somehow.”

Mulder had never heard of someone being able to give other people spontaneous orgasms, but he doesn’t consider it out of the realm of possibility. After all, Robert Patrick Modell had used mind control to make his victims take their own lives, so why not orgasms? He thinks about trying to explain this new theory to Scully. She's never going to buy it.

"I know I work in porn, and you have no reason to believe what I say, but I felt violated, Agent Mulder." Cherry turns away again, picking up her joint and taking another puff to calm her nerves. Pungent smoke billows around Cherry for a moment, then dissipates into the air around them.

Mulder feels for her. “I'm sorry this happened to you. For what it’s worth, I believe you. I really do. If you don't feel like continuing your story, I’d understand, but…”

"No, I'll tell you. I want to put that bastard behind bars. After I finished my scene, I was so spooked that I had Brady drive me home. But as soon as I got into my house…” Cherry pauses, taking a deep shuddering breath before continuing, “...someone came up behind me and hit me over the head… I can't prove it, but I know it was him. Eugene."

Mulder is just about to ask her where Reddington had taken her when he hears a commotion in the house behind him.

“That's him! That's Eugene!" Cherry sobs.

Going a little crazy thinking about Mulder’s desk. It’s a point of conflict for them. Scully wonders why Mulder doesn’t have a desk put in for her. Wonders why Mulder won’t place her at his level, won’t allow her any priority in his life alongside the X-Files. Mulder dissents. Is frustrated to see that Scully won’t meet him where he already is. Won’t play a Watson for his Holmes. Won’t share the desk they already have. Conflict in the sense that they’re saying the same things but missing the big picture.

Ultimately, it goes like this: Scully spends her portion of the tragedy wishing Mulder would give her a desk in his office, while Mulder spends all of his trying to tell her she already owns the whole damn building.

Thank you so much for the compliment! Personally, I feel like the X-files is ripe for more Fuck or Die trope fics. This trope isn't for everyone, but I am surprised there aren't more out there. If you think about it, there are so many dark hearted villains in the show, that it just makes sense that some maniac would try and force them to have sex, right?

I've got some great news, though, we have another Fuck or Die fic in the works! I'm writing it with some help from my writing partner @observeroftheuniverse ! Mulder shoved the key into the ignition and turned it. The engine revved to life, and the soft hum of the radio filled the space. He needed the noise, craved the distraction. But really, he was bracing himself for impact: Mulder, we have to stop this.

"It still feels scary," she admitted. "Like, something might change. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized you're right. The relationship is new, but the feelings aren't."

"I'm glad we're on the same page," he said, "but can I ask what changed? Why now?"

"Because you don't serve to be a secret, Mulder."

"I knew it," she exclaimed, then quieter, "I was hoping for it." She stepped back and ushered them inside. "Come in. Come in. I made that mac and cheese you like, Fox."  

The realization didn't hit him until they were seated at the table. Maggie had expected him. Maggie had embraced him. Maggie had welcomed him into this new chapter of his and Scully's relationship with open arms. His heart swelled with warmth. In this moment, he had everything he wanted—well, almost everything.

"I've got to go," she said, pushing back from the table and gathering her purse.

"You're kidding?" Bill seethed. "The entrees aren't even here yet."

"Enjoy them," she responded. "Mike, I'm sorry."

"Dana, what's going on?" Mike called after her, then to her brother, "Who is that?"

"It's her goddamn partner," Bill seethed.  

Scully didn't turn back. Her stare remained transfixed on Mulder, her savior in blue jeans and a deliciously tight-fitting T-shirt. A few steps toward him, and the tension in her stomach dissipated. A few more steps, and desire replaced the hesitation. The way Mulder's eyes poured over her only fed it, and wetness seeped between her legs.

He threw up his hands. "I understand the rationale and interest behind keeping it a secret from the Bureau. Just like I understand that we can't fraternize on cases, but that doesn't explain why you ignore it out here, in the real world." He peered around the dark parking lot. "There's no one here but you and me. Why does that scare you so much? Why do you recoil at the first inkling of commitment?"

Her response was little more than a whisper. "I don't want to get too comfortable."

"Clearly," he snapped, his sympathy fully evaporated. "This is bullshit, Scully."

"Bill and Tara are flying in for this. It's a favor for Bill and nothing more."

"Yeah. And then what?" Mulder stared at her as hard and as fiercely as he could. This was the part where she'd run. It was always the part where she ran. "I'm sick of being your secret."

"Mulder—"

"But we're still breaking the rules, Scully," he countered. "Why not break them in private… in safety? Why can't we do this like normal people?"

Because we can't ever be normal, she thought. You aren't made for normal. I don't think I am, either.

"I want something real," he added.

Real would destroy you, she felt like screaming. Destroy us.

"I need to go to the bathroom," she said instead. Tears pricked the corners of her eyes. This was a mistake. They never should've started this.

What It's About? Mulder and Scully start hooking up in Season 7. The issue: Mulder wants commitment, and Scully wants to keep their relationship a secret… but also enjoys the thrill of almost getting caught.

Mulder wished Scully had never uttered those words. He regretted ever agreeing to secret hook-ups and undisclosed feelings, but she'd been on top of him, wet, needy, and slick. If she'd asked him to burn their office to ashes, he would've done it just to know how she tasted. After wanting her so badly for so long, he nodded, smiled, and said, "Whatever you want, Scully."

He hadn't known then what it would turn into. That three months later they'd still be sneaking around. That shadowy trysts and muffled whispers would outweigh any real conversation between them. Maybe that was his fault. Their first time set a precedent. Somehow, he'd found himself in his office chair with Scully's skirt hiked up and his cock poking through the zipper of his slacks. They should've been in bed after a nice dinner. He should have been folding down clean sheets instead of swatting paper clips and files from behind her head as he laid her on the desk. It wasn't true, though. He couldn't call her his girlfriend. He couldn't even say they were romantically involved. The words I love you hadn't had a chance to leave his lips because they were too busy sneaking around. Scully was a secret indulgence, a pint of ice cream devoured while standing in a dark kitchen so no one could see. To keep their jobs, it made sense. But why couldn't they tell her mother? Their friends?

"I'll go out first," she said, giving herself one last look in the mirror and smoothing her dress. "You come out two minutes later. No less."

He swore this part got her off, too—the reintroduction into public with his fingerprints all over her. Later, when they locked stares from across the room, her eyes would sparkle with mischief. Those ice blue orbs would slam against him like sonar, and just like that, he'd be hungry for her again. So fucking hungry.

She rose on tiptoes. Her closing kiss signified the end of another frenzied fuck. Greed had him grasping for more. "Come home with me later."

"You know I can't."

He laughed, the sound grim and low. Outside, music and chatter reminded him they weren't alone. Someone would need this bathroom eventually. "We'd be less likely to get caught there."

"But we'd be more likely to complicate this."

"What if I'm okay with that?"  

Her lips twitched into a frown. "What if I'm not?" A thousand questions and a million protests formed on his tongue, but she silenced them with another delicate kiss. "Two minutes," she reminded him.

With that, she left. The stolen glances, the shared looks, would hold him over, but it wasn't enough. He didn't want to be her secret anymore.
