potential s2 rewrite fanfic
This is likely just speaking into the abyss but I’m possibly considering writing a s2 Wednesday rewrite fanfic and I was wondering if anyone had anything that grabbed their attention in the story that could be improved upon.
I have my own ideas; there was deflated tension with Wednesday’s vision about Enid dying.
The show never really let us fear for Enid’s safety because the few occasions where she seemed to be in trouble were ultimately reduced to comedic relief. It weakened Wednesday’s fear and reduced her conflict with Enid, and then it was so easily resolved in episode 6 that it made part 1 and part 2 of the season feel disconnected.
There are two main changes I would make to improve this: making Enid wolf out without a full moon in episode 4 during the asylum break-in and having Wednesday’s vision about Enid stay unchanged in the aftermath of episode 6. The way I’d have the asylum break-in happen is that I’d keep the scene where Enid is with Agnes in the bushes and she calls the cops but I’d make it so that Enid also rushes out of the bushes and runs into the asylum, because she’s worried about Wednesday. It’d be reminiscent to what she did in s1; Wednesday is in danger and Enid runs to save her without thinking she’ll wolf out.
The way I have it planned now, Enid finds Wednesday just as the Hyde is about to throw her out the window. Enid watches Wednesday crash through it (she’s probably positioned far behind the Hyde in the hallway) and her fear/concern/anger is enough of an emotional trigger to cause her to wolf out. I’d probably have her tackle the Hyde, they both crash out of the broken window and start fighting while being shot at when the cops arrive. The Hyde manages to runs away and Enid is injured. I think this would connect perfectly to Wednesday’s vision, especially since Enid was wearing the same outfit in episode 4 as she was in the vision, and therefore once Wednesday woke up from her coma her desperation to save Enid would be magnified.
Wednesday’s fear would be more justified, since Enid got hurt trying to save her adding more layers to her conflict with Enid about pushing her away. This change would also tie together Enid’s alpha subplot into the story more cohesively since it’s a direct consequence of the season’s conflict instead of being out of the blue. And since Enid has already wolfed out to save Wednesday before in s1, it feels like a natural escalation of what we’ve already seen.
