lea: i just hate that it’s some thing you’d have to do y’know? and us moving back in together is a conversation that i hope we’ll have in the future but i don’t know, the shots just make me sad.

Dianna: I’ll be okay. I’m not scared of needles as my tattoos show. I’m open to that conversation some day, so yes. Why do the shots make you sad?

Dianna: I’m sure we’d make it work. My next movie is still in preproduction.

lea: ten times harder for me :( you’ll have to give me a day to snuggle sheila though, since you’re stupidly allergic. then i’ll sneak off to your house.

lea: actually, just so you know; darren and i are seriously thinking about international dates. you should come for those though.

Dianna: Just brushing it would take hours, Lea. Nope. I’m okay.

Dianna: No pouting when I can’t kiss it away. I can get allergy shots. I mean, if we become serious and think about moving back in together, I would have to. I’d never make you give up your baby.

Dianna: You both should totally do it, and I’d be happy to go as long as my schedule lets me.

Dianna: I would never. That is way too much to keep up with. I love my hair where it’s at so you’re safe.

Dianna: It was hard. You are far too irresistible. Mmm well you come back to LA soon. I may just keep you at my house for a week when you’re done with tour.

Taking It Back To Boston || Achele

Lea couldn’t help but roll her eyes, knowing that her manager meant the best but a heads up would have been nice. The brunette took the duffle from Dianna’s shoulder, dropping it next to the bed before taking her through the open balcony doors to be met with the view of Boston. “I might have to replace her if she keeps telling people where I’m staying. It’s a safety concern.” She teased, still a little groggy to the fact that Dianna had really come across the country to be with her. Not that is surprised her but it was such a sweet gesture and she was over the moon to be there with her. “They’re playing Baltimore tonight.” Lea said with a smile, looking at the actress. “We’ve got a couple hours to kill before the game; we can get something to bite and then walk over instead of dealing with the T.” Though it had been years, Lea knew that the train system in Boston was probably as messy as ever and if there was a game, the chances were that it was all clogged up with all of the Red Sox fans who knew better than to drive there. “I’m really not but I will say that you are, you absolutely are good enough to have woken me up.” Lea smiled sweetly, giving her a quick peck. 

Dianna happily allowed herself to be lead through the suite. When she was with Lea, everything else kind of faded away and she’d follow the other woman anywhere. Luckily Lea usually lead them to great things or else it could be a little dangerous. “You can’t replace her! She ensured I only had your best interest at heart and told me not to wear you out too much tonight before your show tomorrow.” The last part was said with a chuckle because the two of them did had quite the reputation when it came to sleeping together. Once they started, well, they could keep at it for hours. It was wonderful in the moment, but could become problematic when there were outside obligations. “I also have tickets to your show tomorrow, so I’ll be there supporting you the whole time.” Dianna was so excited to get to see Lea sing again. She’d also make sure to see Darren because she’d never hear the end of it if she didn’t. He and Lea’s voices always worked well together, so she was sure that the show was going to be terrific. “Are you going to sing Good Morning Baltimore at the game? Because honestly I wouldn’t put it past you,” Dianna teased lightly. It would be quite the sight to see if she was honest. There weren’t many baseball games that had a hint of a musical thrown into them. “Sounds perfect. What are you craving for dinner?” One of the things she missed most about them was how they their minds used to always be on the same wavelength for most things. Food was never an issue since they shared the same diet, and they both loved trying anything. Experiencing foods from different cultures was a favorite past time. Dianna reciprocated the kiss before maneuvering herself to wrap her arms around Lea from behind and rest her chin on the woman’s shoulder. “You’re absolutely beautiful, Lee,” she said before tilted her head slightly to trail kisses up her neck. “How is it possible for me to have already missed you more than imaginable in just a few days? It was so hard for me to keep this a secret from you in order to surprise you.”

Lea had long forgiven the other brunette and it make her a little sad that all that anger had come out in Dianna and Naya’s friendship, especially because all of the girls had been particularly close. For some reason, she had been okay with being Naya’s scapegoat for all those years maybe she was hoping that because she was that person, that Naya treated everyone else better and from what she had seen, that was what had happened. “No, baby, no, I––.” Lea interrupted before hunching back to listen to what Dianna had to say knowing all too well that the pacing she had started was a method to keep her from boiling over in something resembling anger.  She was right, Ryan had treated her like crap. Something she couldn’t quite understand why or where it stemmed from because Dianna was wonderful and one of the most kind hearted people she had ever met. It was almost impossible to find a person that didn’t like Di. The blonde wasn’t wrong though, it wouldn’t be because she was a woman, Lea had brought around casual girlfriend around and most of them had gotten his approval, not that Lea brought them to be screened by the director. “What’ve you read, mm?”  She asked with a raised eyebrow, teasing her just a little, “If it’s because you’re a woman than I think he needs more help than either of us can even begin to explain but I’m not having him dictate our relationship.” Lea, while she cared what he might say because she respected him, she wasn’t going to throw away this chance. She owed it to them to give them another go at it. Lea stood back up from the stairs, going over to the blonde, wrapping her arms around her waist from behind and she rested her chin on Dianna’s shoulder, “I’m just joking, I can promise you that being out isn’t an issue. I want to let people in.” Lea was quite an open book and while she never really hid her sexuality, she knew that there was questions about that in the beginning her team would shut down, since then, she didn’t get any direct questions about it. ‘Coming out’ wasn’t what Lea would call it because she wasn’t going out of anything and people weren’t really entitled to any explanations instead, she saw it as letting people in. Letting them into a part of her life that she wasn’t ashamed of but just hadn’t gotten the chance to really talk about.

It was always astonishing to Dianna how much trouble Lea’s mouth could get her into, but luckily, with age came more patience. In the past she would have internally stayed focus on what the other woman said and not listened to any attempt to correct it due to emotions running high and hurt. Perhaps the time away was what was best for them. It gave them time to mature and well, handle the intense emotions that always existed between them better. He smirked at Lea’s tease before rolling her eyes. “I kept tabs on you, Lea. It drove me insanely jealous when I read about you with other people, but I more wanted to know if you were okay,” she said with a shrug. The other women made her more jealous, but she couldn’t do anything about it. Well, she thought she couldn’t. When Dianna felt arms wrap around her, she couldn’t help but smile and slowly turn around in the embrace to face the woman who had plagued her thoughts for so many years. She softly cupped Lea’s cheek and let out a small sigh. “And I want everything with you,” she whispered before leaning her forehead against the other woman’s. “I want actual dates outside, holding your hands at functions, and answering the millions of questions that will come up about you so I can finally gush about how cute I think you are.” Dianna could be very romantic when she wanted to be, and Lea had really been the only person to see that first hand. Jessica saw some of it, but not to the lengths the blonde once went to for the brunette. “I think we covered enough basis don’t you,” she asked with her lips only centimeters away from Lea’s.

Taking It Back To Boston || Achele

Lea had avoided Boston for years. While it was one of her favorite cities in the entire world, it hurt to be there. It was a living reminder of her time with Dianna and for a really long time was painful. However, now that they were in a better place, it made her want to soak in the city again. It was like New York but kinder and less fast, a perfect little medley of ever changing city and a place where you could take your time. Lea flew into Boston a day before the concert to get a little breather in the city and to re-explore a place that had meant so much to her many years ago.

The Liberty Hotel was one of her favorite hotels in Boston, an un appreciated gem in the city and the Ebersol Suite was admittedly too lavash but did Lea care? Absolutely not. The 270-degree view of the city was worth it to her. While Boston was a place that slept a little earlier, she had decided to take a nap after her morning flight in –– it wasn’t until the knock on the door had woken her up. A little disheveled, Lea threw on a tour sweater on walking over to the door, a small yawn coming from her and quick look in the mirror, Lea groaned softly at the sleep that was all over her face. Opening up, she perked up seeing the blonde woman. It was so unexpected and she just shook her head in confusion, laughing, throwing her arms around Dianna. “Hi, baby girl! How’d you even–– what are you doing here?” She asked as she peeled her body away before taking Dianna’s hand and pulling her into the suite.

The sight of a sleepy Lea was quite honestly the most adorable thing that Dianna had ever seen. Add to that the look of surprise that had quickly taken over her face, and the blonde was completely smitten. Before even getting a word out, she returned the hug and let herself get pulled into Lea’s hotel room. It was a gorgeous room, but she could be staying in a box for all she cared as long as she was with the singer. “Your manager and I are great friends,” she said with a giggle. “You should really get used to that. As for what I’m doing here, I missed you, and I couldn’t think of a better way for us to kick off us being together than coming to Boston,” she replied as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. To Dianna jumping on a plane and flying to the other side of the country wasn’t a big deal when it came to Lea. “I got us tickets to a Boston game tonight, and well, I figured we could just spend time getting lost in this place together. Can I just say, you’re the cutest person ever just after you wake up from a nap? I hope I’m good enough of a surprise to make up for waking you up.”

Taking It Back To Boston || Achele

Back in LA Dianna had taken all the steps necessary for her to be with Lea if things worked out. She wanted to show that she was all in and serious when it came to the brunette, and well, that involved ending her “marriage,” and finally getting rid of her manager. She had found a new one easily enough through Jessica who actually recommended the woman who was Leighton’s manager, and that worked well. Now, she was in an uber being taken to Lea’s hotel which her manager was more than happy to provide her the information for. It seemed that the people in Lea’s life wanted to see her happy again, and well, since they believed she would do that, she got more help than most would to surprise the singer. 

When she walked into the hotel, she immediately went into the elevator to just head up to Lea’s room. It was a romantic gesture, and well, the blonde could only hope that it was well received. The city held so many magical memories for them, and she couldn’t miss out on the chance to start over in a place that they both loved. Within minutes Dianna was standing in front of the brunette’s doors with a duffle over her shoulder, and an old Redsox baseball hat on top of her head. Excitement finally took the lead and let her knock on the door. When it swung over, a giant, genuine smile overtook Dianna’s face as she wiggled her fingers. “Hi baby. Surprise?”

Lea had to think before knowing which occasion Dianna was referring to, as much as Lea wanted to keep things with the latina civil, it just didn’t work and she often just blocked out news of her, especially when they were still on Glee. It wasn’t like Dianna to confront people and the fact that it had gotten to the point that Jenna was scared, well, that was something. Lea had worked at just ignoring the whispers from her cast mates, the death glares shot at her from across the room. She was there to do a job and go home, she wasn’t going to let someone as angry as Naya get to her. Well, Lea would never let her know that she had gotten to her at least. “She was just hurt and angry, I mean, I don’t think I would have reacted the way she did if I was in her shoes but I can try an empathize. Plus, she was going through stuff we couldn’t have even begin to imagine.” Lea defended quietly, see, as much as Naya might hate her, she valued the time they were friends and they had confided in each other.  Lea could only wish it had lasted longer than what it did. “I didn’t know you were the person behind that though, I just assumed that she was angry about one thing or another and left when she decided that other people didn’t care whether or not she was around.” As much as she was known to be a fool for love, Lea had become more cautious with her heart over the years and for someone who fell in love too quickly, the fact that she wasn’t willing to dive headfirst into them was surprising even to her. Especially because it was Dianna, thought she might never tell her, Lea had never loved anyone the way that she had loved Dianna. She was that kind of love that you love that you only find once in a lifetime and the blonde was right, second chances didn’t come around all that often. They were getting one, they were getting the chance to be happy together and Lea knew she was doing a shitty job at taking that opportunity. “No, but, honestly, I am scared of what Ryan might say. I mean, I know you’re not working with him and probably won’t ever again but him and I are in the cahoots. Y’know? I have to care what he thinks. At least a little.” Lea said openly and she was sure that with anyone else it wouldn’t matter but with Dianna and Ryan’s relationship being what it was, it was a scary thought. Lea would never let him determined her love life but she did respect him to some aspect and most of the people she had been in relationships with beforehand had all gotten the infamous ‘Murphy Approval.’.  “One of us has go to be scared to come out for this to work, right?” Lea said jokingly, hoping to lighten up the moon that was thickening in the room knowing that the subject of Ryan was sensitive.

“Nothing excuses anyone treating you that way,” she said with a shake of her head. While she knew what Naya was going through due to her ex boyfriend leaving her for Arianna Grande and everything else, it didn’t excuse how she treated Lea. It was obvious to the blonde that she was taking the anger of her break up out on the shorter brunette, but that didn’t make it okay. “I know we weren’t talking, but I wasn’t going to allow anyone to hurt you and use me as a justification.” No matter how angry Dianna was, she never wanted Lea to get hurt. Hearing Ryan’s name as a reason for them to possibly worry about being together made Dianna more angry than she thought it would. She was never one to just explode in anger no matter what she portrayed in television, so she walked away to pace for a moment and try to breathe. “Is Ryan enough for you not to want to be open with me,” she asked with a hint of hurt in her voice. “Lea, he treated me terribly, and I know you’re biased with him, but even you had to see that. I mean, I won’t ask you to do something that might cause a problem in your career. It’s why I didn’t want to come out when we were on the show together, but Lea, would you really be okay if I’m the girl he has a problem with? I’ve read about you with others so it wouldn’t be women that are the issue.” Dianna couldn’t believe that Ryan Murphy could come in between them yet again. She thought she was done with that man, but she knew how close he and Lea were which meant that he would have to deal if he really wanted the woman. She had no idea if Lea was willing to risk anything with him for her. Sure, she had said at the event that she would have left Glee for her and rebuilt her career, but that was years ago. Dianna did stop moving when she heard Lea’s attempt at a joke and turned to face her. She loved that woman, and they both just needed to take the jump together. She was scared to do it before, and now Dianna had to help the other woman overcome it. “That’s true, and I get that it might not be fair for me to ask you to do this for me when I made you wait far too long for me to do it for you, but we have to do things differently in order for this to work.”

Lea: Nice save. I know, I know. I shouldn’t have brought it up but we’re trying this whole open communication thing, right? I figured we’d start off on the right foot. No, I’m not. If he finds out before I get the chance to tell him, well that’s life.

Lea: Just for Bianca! I can send you a fruit basket too! Won’t include dorian, I promise.

Lea: You think so? Interesting. I don’t actually think I could do a Manhattan wedding. I guess I’ll find out when the time comes.

Lea: You love me because I’m a brat, hello.

Dianna: It's not really a save, when it's the truth, baby. No, I appreciate you bringing it up. Honestly, he doesn't have a problem with you dating women, and we aren't on a show together anymore. He'd really have no reason to disapprove of me other than his own personal distaste for me.

Dianna: Awe, you'd send me a fruit basket? That's precious.

Dianna: I actually think upstate New York is beautiful and would love to do an outdoor wedding somewhere up there. We'll see what you wind up coming up with. I don't think you're an LA wedding girl either though.

Lea: Does it get under your skin a little bit? See cause then it just builds and somehow, I still get what I want.

Dianna: I would love you no matter what. You'd always be beautiful. I know I reacted badly, and well, I apologized, but I'm sorry. That man just didn't treat me well, but I support you, and your career no matter what. Are you worried about him finding out? Do you want me to lay low?

Dianna: When you start recommending a fruit basket with dorian, I think there is.

Dianna: You deserve a big Manhattan wedding. I know you'd want to go home to get married.

Dianna: Of course it does, and you're such a brat. Why do I love you?

Lea: I don't think I trust anyone named Bianca, truly. Oh yes, I missed her a TON. No, you're right but I don't know what I was really thinking. I guess I don't see what he'd get outta it other than saying that a cute gal like yourself is his wife.

Lea: Sorry but I'm not allowed to talk about that during non-buisness hours. No, I'm kidding, babes. I'm just jokin'.

Dianna: I love spoiling you. That hasn't changed. I'm looking forward to it too. I think we need some time together as secluded as we can get. Pack some hiking gear because there are some great trails there. Oh I would. I could see the juice to TMZ.

Dianna: I'll make sure to send her an edible arrangement from you. He's an amazing friend of mine, and we've been close for a few years now. It helped his band's publicity, and he helped me because he saw how miserable I was being set up on dates.

Dianna: You're such a little brat. My parents told me to tell you hi, baby.
