Alam and @springlock-osha finish their breakfast, chatting the whole way through. It's nice, pretty comfortable too. Soon enough though, they're done, and Alam does his best to put his knife and fork in the middle of his plate.
"Alright, I think I am done. How about you?"
Yeah, I'm done. Should pay and get going. The stuff isn't going to get itself done.
[William nods, smiling.]
*Soon, the bus arrives at Hurricane, and Alam taps William ( @springlock-osha ) to get his attention.*
Hey, looks like we are here. Time to get up.
Hm? Oh, right, our stop.
[William gets up, stretching a bit before starting to make his way to the front, making sure to both grab his bag and that Alam is following.]
*Alam is indeed following close behind, bag in hand. He carefully ushers William outside, and soon they're standing on the streets of Hurricane*
Alright! What is the plan - locate the place first then grab something to eat?
May as well, it's not on the same side of town as the old Freddy's is. We can find it and make sure we can actually get in, and then go and grab something? Pretty sure the rentals are closed, most people wouldn't want to rent a 40 year old animatronic, even with how advanced they are.
Fair enough! Let us go - the sooner we get there, the sooner we can grab something to eat!

Honestly we probably will! It'll be nice though, seeing it again after all this time. Let's just hope that if they're still active that Freddy doesn't have a burst of temper. Still not sure what caused that, but neither one of us want to be on the receiving end of a 7ft tall metal bear's anger.

Right, right, all of the Funtimes should be down there, Funtime Freddy and Foxy, Ballora, and Circus Baby, being the main ones. There's also the Bonbon hand puppet and a prototype of him, affectionately named Bonnet.
Can't forget the minireenas, the bidibabs, and the electrobabs. I half forgot why I even made the electrobabs, was it just to see if I could or was it something else? If they do still function, I doubt they can still shock anything. We never rented them out to my knowledge, considering the obvious hazard.
Makes sense, electrocution is a problem that I do not think you can really... deal with.

Right, well I mentioned them before, when we were going to the cafeteria that one time?
[He hesitantly takes Alam's hand. He feels safe with Alam, but there's still a bit of fear hidden under, even as he's happy to hold]
They're the ones with the more expensive endoskeletons and segmented shells. I still adore aspects of their designs, but there's others that I think I would change if I rebuilt them.
I see. They sound interesting. Did you have any ideas going into making them? Like, character designs or something? Or did you just make them up as you went?
*He smiles, and begins walking, making sure William is keeping up with him.*
[He follows behind, glad to talk about this. Making sure to be loud enough to where Alam can hear, but quiet enough so that others can't.]
Right, right. Well, Freddy and Foxy are more animal based, and were to make sure that people knew that the place was a sister location to Freddy's. Funtime Freddy being the location's version of Freddy Fazbear, and Funtime Foxy being the location's Foxy the Pirate. Well. Not really a pirate in Circus Baby's but you get what I mean, yeah?
Ballora and Circus Baby had more human designs, I had a hard time figuring things out for them, so I thought it wouldn't hurt to leave them human. Well. Not fully human, to keep a cohesive color scheme I left their "skin" white to match with the shells on Foxy and Freddy.
So... Yes and no. I had their base endos build first, so I could add onto them if needed, and Freddy and Foxy got finished first, Ballora and Baby were tough to nail. Ballora I eventually went with a design that would test the limitations of the endos, and for Baby all it really took for some inspiration to strike was helping my daughter to get ready for school one morning.
I see... that sounds very cool! I had not even considered the cohesive colour scheme part of things! It all sounds very complicated, you must have worked very hard to be able to make such diverse animatronics!
*He smiles, warmly, clearly very interested in everything William is saying.*
What was making them like? Were there any problems you ran into?
I will admit that creating the mechanisms to where they could open parts of their shells without them being easy to open for a child was difficult too.
The programming though, had a lot more issues. You've heard about Freddy's weird amount of aggression before, he also had issues with trying to put things in his chest cavity that he shouldn't. Like people.
That bug was fixed before opening, thankfully. Swear I almost ended up in there around 3 times while testing him out. Just glad I didn't get hurt too badly.
[A half lie, but it was genuinely frustrating for him.]
Ballora's bugs I didn't have time to fix before opening, so I just opted to add a rail system around her part of the place, because she had that habit I mentioned of not wanting to be bipedal.
Baby had. A very bad bug similar to Freddy's. It got fixed at some point! I don't want to go into detail about such a similar bug that was just more frustrating.
[A lie. If the old saying was true, his ass would be roasted right now.]
And don't even get me started on Foxy. Ended up having to completely remake his AI from the bottom up. Not due to any bad glitches mind you, but because the AI I originally made for her ended up not fitting what I wanted for them. So that was several weeks of coding wasted.
That sounds like a frustrating experience. I suppose that all creation is full of problems, but I can only imagine how frustrating this all was for you. You got things working, in the end? Enough for them to be useable at least? I would hate to hear that you had to give up on all of them after you clearly spent a lot of time on them
The place got to open with all four animatronics! Bonbon, the Minireenas, the Bidybabs, and the Electrobabs were pretty simple in comparison, the hardest parts about them were downsizing the endos to allow them to still walk around.
I bet, it sounds like those need a lot of mechanical parts, and making those smaller might make them more fragile. I wager that would have been an annoying problem, considering the weight of the animatronics.
Very annoying. Especially with the Minireenas and Electrobabs, for different reasons. The Minireenas had a more trim, doll-like build, and were meant to dance alongside Ballora, so they don't have many features, and in fact don't even have very much in their heads at all.
The Electrobabs were more troublesome in keeping them from frying their own circuits. Which happened on more than one occasion when trying to make them. It didn't help that I just re-used the ai from the Bidibabs in them, making them playful and having a drive for a bit of mischief.
And the Minireenas learned from the Bidibabs, and had a habit of climbing people or into their pockets and bags, so we'll have to check those if they're still functioning to make sure we don't have stray passengers.
Ah, probably a good idea. Though what would the harm be in keeping just one or two? I mean, we are already breaking in. I think it would be nice. Let them see outside of the place for a bit.

One managed to hitch a ride with me home and was almost lost to the garbage disposal that night. Still don't know how it got into the sink.
Bidibabs are easier to deal with, they're bigger so they can't exactly hitch a ride with someone. Still one managed to get into a pizza oven once overnight and got stuck in there. Almost scared the staff half to death.
Of course, when the switch from restaurant to rentals was made, the kitchens were removed, but still.

No, no, you're right. Looks a lot like the sign, but having not been used for a long time. Part of me is surprised that nobody's ever tried to refurbish the building but at the same time, not really.
I guess there was no call for it? People may have just... prefered other things, or not had the cash to hire out animatronics, and it was just... abandoned because it was not worth the money for its upkeep? A pity...
A shame, really. Hopefully it's just the change of tastes with time that caused this place to close its doors forever, and not an incident. Seems like it's been closed a long time though... How about you try to get the doors open, hm?

There's a padlock on the door, so hopefully that's the only thing keeping it shut... if there's an internal lock, it might be rusted enough that he can just pull the door open*

If I remember right, the doors had internal locks, but they could be broken, given the padlock. Wonder what happened to this place after it closed. What happened to the animatronics? Were they sent to other places? Or were they just left to rust?

Now, to get to where we need to go, the fastest way would be the elevator, but I doubt that's safe after so long, so there should be some stairs somewhere in there that lead to the lower maintenance levels.

If they do still function, I doubt they can still shock anything. We never rented them out to my knowledge, considering the obvious hazard.

Right, right. Well, Freddy and Foxy are more animal based, and were to make sure that people knew that the place was a sister location to Freddy's. Funtime Freddy being the location's version of Freddy Fazbear, and Funtime Foxy being the location's Foxy the Pirate. Well. Not really a pirate in Circus Baby's but you get what I mean, yeah?
Ballora and Circus Baby had more human designs, I had a hard time figuring things out for them, so I thought it wouldn't hurt to leave them human. Well. Not fully human, to keep a cohesive color scheme I left their "skin" white to match with the shells on Foxy and Freddy.
So... Yes and no. I had their base endos build first, so I could add onto them if needed, and Freddy and Foxy got finished first, Ballora and Baby were tough to nail. Ballora I eventually went with a design that would test the limitations of the endos, and for Baby all it really took for some inspiration to strike was helping my daughter to get ready for school one morning.
I see... that sounds very cool! I had not even considered the cohesive colour scheme part of things! It all sounds very complicated, you must have worked very hard to be able to make such diverse animatronics!

I will admit that creating the mechanisms to where they could open parts of their shells without them being easy to open for a child was difficult too.
The programming though, had a lot more issues. You've heard about Freddy's weird amount of aggression before, he also had issues with trying to put things in his chest cavity that he shouldn't. Like people.
That bug was fixed before opening, thankfully. Swear I almost ended up in there around 3 times while testing him out. Just glad I didn't get hurt too badly.

Ballora's bugs I didn't have time to fix before opening, so I just opted to add a rail system around her part of the place, because she had that habit I mentioned of not wanting to be bipedal.
Baby had. A very bad bug similar to Freddy's. It got fixed at some point! I don't want to go into detail about such a similar bug that was just more frustrating.

And don't even get me started on Foxy. Ended up having to completely remake his AI from the bottom up. Not due to any bad glitches mind you, but because the AI I originally made for her ended up not fitting what I wanted for them. So that was several weeks of coding wasted.
That sounds like a frustrating experience. I suppose that all creation is full of problems, but I can only imagine how frustrating this all was for you. You got things working, in the end? Enough for them to be useable at least? I would hate to hear that you had to give up on all of them after you clearly spent a lot of time on them
The place got to open with all four animatronics! Bonbon, the Minireenas, the Bidybabs, and the Electrobabs were pretty simple in comparison, the hardest parts about them were downsizing the endos to allow them to still walk around.
I bet, it sounds like those need a lot of mechanical parts, and making those smaller might make them more fragile. I wager that would have been an annoying problem, considering the weight of the animatronics.
Very annoying. Especially with the Minireenas and Electrobabs, for different reasons. The Minireenas had a more trim, doll-like build, and were meant to dance alongside Ballora, so they don't have many features, and in fact don't even have very much in their heads at all.
The Electrobabs were more troublesome in keeping them from frying their own circuits. Which happened on more than one occasion when trying to make them. It didn't help that I just re-used the ai from the Bidibabs in them, making them playful and having a drive for a bit of mischief.
And the Minireenas learned from the Bidibabs, and had a habit of climbing people or into their pockets and bags, so we'll have to check those if they're still functioning to make sure we don't have stray passengers.
Ah, probably a good idea. Though what would the harm be in keeping just one or two? I mean, we are already breaking in. I think it would be nice. Let them see outside of the place for a bit.

Bidibabs are easier to deal with, they're bigger so they can't exactly hitch a ride with someone. Still one managed to get into a pizza oven once overnight and got stuck in there. Almost scared the staff half to death.
Of course, when the switch from restaurant to rentals was made, the kitchens were removed, but still.

Right, right, all of the Funtimes should be down there, Funtime Freddy and Foxy, Ballora, and Circus Baby, being the main ones. There's also the Bonbon hand puppet and a prototype of him, affectionately named Bonnet.
Can't forget the minireenas, the bidibabs, and the electrobabs. I half forgot why I even made the electrobabs, was it just to see if I could or was it something else? If they do still function, I doubt they can still shock anything. We never rented them out to my knowledge, considering the obvious hazard.
Makes sense, electrocution is a problem that I do not think you can really... deal with.

They're the ones with the more expensive endoskeletons and segmented shells. I still adore aspects of their designs, but there's others that I think I would change if I rebuilt them.
I see. They sound interesting. Did you have any ideas going into making them? Like, character designs or something? Or did you just make them up as you went?

Right, right. Well, Freddy and Foxy are more animal based, and were to make sure that people knew that the place was a sister location to Freddy's. Funtime Freddy being the location's version of Freddy Fazbear, and Funtime Foxy being the location's Foxy the Pirate. Well. Not really a pirate in Circus Baby's but you get what I mean, yeah?
Ballora and Circus Baby had more human designs, I had a hard time figuring things out for them, so I thought it wouldn't hurt to leave them human. Well. Not fully human, to keep a cohesive color scheme I left their "skin" white to match with the shells on Foxy and Freddy.
So... Yes and no. I had their base endos build first, so I could add onto them if needed, and Freddy and Foxy got finished first, Ballora and Baby were tough to nail. Ballora I eventually went with a design that would test the limitations of the endos, and for Baby all it really took for some inspiration to strike was helping my daughter to get ready for school one morning.
I see... that sounds very cool! I had not even considered the cohesive colour scheme part of things! It all sounds very complicated, you must have worked very hard to be able to make such diverse animatronics!

What was making them like? Were there any problems you ran into?
I will admit that creating the mechanisms to where they could open parts of their shells without them being easy to open for a child was difficult too.
The programming though, had a lot more issues. You've heard about Freddy's weird amount of aggression before, he also had issues with trying to put things in his chest cavity that he shouldn't. Like people.
That bug was fixed before opening, thankfully. Swear I almost ended up in there around 3 times while testing him out. Just glad I didn't get hurt too badly.
[A half lie, but it was genuinely frustrating for him.]
Ballora's bugs I didn't have time to fix before opening, so I just opted to add a rail system around her part of the place, because she had that habit I mentioned of not wanting to be bipedal.
Baby had. A very bad bug similar to Freddy's. It got fixed at some point! I don't want to go into detail about such a similar bug that was just more frustrating.
[A lie. If the old saying was true, his ass would be roasted right now.]
And don't even get me started on Foxy. Ended up having to completely remake his AI from the bottom up. Not due to any bad glitches mind you, but because the AI I originally made for her ended up not fitting what I wanted for them. So that was several weeks of coding wasted.
That sounds like a frustrating experience. I suppose that all creation is full of problems, but I can only imagine how frustrating this all was for you. You got things working, in the end? Enough for them to be useable at least? I would hate to hear that you had to give up on all of them after you clearly spent a lot of time on them
The place got to open with all four animatronics! Bonbon, the Minireenas, the Bidybabs, and the Electrobabs were pretty simple in comparison, the hardest parts about them were downsizing the endos to allow them to still walk around.
I bet, it sounds like those need a lot of mechanical parts, and making those smaller might make them more fragile. I wager that would have been an annoying problem, considering the weight of the animatronics.
Very annoying. Especially with the Minireenas and Electrobabs, for different reasons. The Minireenas had a more trim, doll-like build, and were meant to dance alongside Ballora, so they don't have many features, and in fact don't even have very much in their heads at all.
The Electrobabs were more troublesome in keeping them from frying their own circuits. Which happened on more than one occasion when trying to make them. It didn't help that I just re-used the ai from the Bidibabs in them, making them playful and having a drive for a bit of mischief.
And the Minireenas learned from the Bidibabs, and had a habit of climbing people or into their pockets and bags, so we'll have to check those if they're still functioning to make sure we don't have stray passengers.
Ah, probably a good idea. Though what would the harm be in keeping just one or two? I mean, we are already breaking in. I think it would be nice. Let them see outside of the place for a bit.
*He already seems fond of the little animatronics, and he hasn't even seen any of them yet...*
Fair enough, it'd just be hard to keep them out of things, trust me, if they have somewhere they want to get into, they won't stop trying for a while.
One managed to hitch a ride with me home and was almost lost to the garbage disposal that night. Still don't know how it got into the sink.
Bidibabs are easier to deal with, they're bigger so they can't exactly hitch a ride with someone. Still one managed to get into a pizza oven once overnight and got stuck in there. Almost scared the staff half to death.
Of course, when the switch from restaurant to rentals was made, the kitchens were removed, but still.
