Hey! You don’t have to answer this, sry, I’m still pretty new to tumblr and idk if it’s a bit off-topic!

Anyway, I’ve read some of your posts and I rly enjoy them, you make some very good points! Like I said; I’m new to tumblr, but I also finished watching tadc a couple of weeks ago, so I’m basically finding my way into the fandom just now. And I’ve heard A LOT of bad stuff. About the fandom as well as about gooseworx, which is ac my question.

What makes her problematic or what did she do that made the fandom dislike her sm? Not tryna defend her or anything, I just genuinely don’t know that much about her and I’d be curious to! That’s why I thought you might have an answer, given that ur acc is mainly focused around criticism towards tadc (and gooseworx)!

She's made weird jokes involving incest, pedophilia, and being bigoted (including straight up Nazism) for the sake of being edgy

^This includes her making frequent misogynistic jokes (and not-really-jokes) as recently as 2024

She was in the stream where Michael and Ashley joked about the n-word and is distinctly the only one of the three to never apologize for her behavior, and only addressed the fandom's racism when it crossed into an IRL event.

While this is extremely old, she got genuinely upset over people drawing Josuke from JJBA as black. Despite its age, it's still relevant seeing as she's never denounced this or lifted up black headcanons in any way. I don't have a link to the post on its own so I'll just drop it as a screenshot:

She's made a shit ton of jokes about scarring children, in general but ESPECIALLY sexually.

She interacted with a then-minor's NSFW fanart of one of her OCs, didn't back down and correct herself when she realized how young she was, and continued to interact with him. A lot. Including her continuing to interact with his NSFW stuff. She did all of this as a 26 year old (in 2021) and her (and the victim but he's the victim so he's exempt) has been shown to not give a shit and find the situation funny shortly after the pilot came out.

so, zooble. outside of the show it was stated that they go by any pronouns. within the show however, they/them is used exclusively for them.

so, as it stands, they're not representation for people who go by any pronouns since it's literally not anywhere in the show and you wouldn't even know it if you weren't online enough, and they're technically not representation for people who go by they/them since it's not canon.

and it feels like fence sitting to me. like they tried to have a cake (a non-binary character) and eat it too (no you can't misgendering them actually, don't think about their pronouns at all).

and what about many of tadc's official dubs, especially in gendered languages? this is such a good opportunity to represent neopronouns non-binary speakers have created to finally have a space for themselves in their own lang- she/her & feminine grammatical gender exclusively.

they could've done better.

I didn't know how to phrase it well myself but yeah, whether you Zooble's pronouns as they/them or any/all, Goose really flubbed how they were presented in-show. And it does kind of feel like an easy cop-out for fans to technically-not-misgender Zooble constantly.

I'm a Latine American (clarification). I think what would have been awesome and better (in my opinion) is if Zooble in the gendered dubs: they switched between both feminine and masculine pronouns interchangeably + adding a line when he's first introduced in the dubs of technical pronoun usages under the gendered languages so his genderqueer can't be easily erase.

Another thing that would have been cool in the gendered dubs is if they made Zooble a non-binary character who still uses gendered pronouns (whether solo or interchangeably) and outwardly specified their queerness. There are genderqueer people internationally who still comply with their DGAB pronouns or picked their opposite gendered pronoun. Either because they don't mind or the lack of gender neutral and additions of neo-pronouns as options in their language structure.

This was a MAJOR oversight from Gooseworx and GLITCH for the international genderqueer fans that reeks of the team's whiteness and westernism. Much like everything they do.

Also I so badly wanted to debunk the idea that Zooble was supposed to be DFAB because how it's handled feeds into enbyphobia and exorsexim. However we need to start admitting that many of the bigotry exhibited in the fandom is a reflection of the beliefs presented the show. Like if this was really important to GLITCH/Gooseworx/Ashley Nichols: they would have called out the fandom's exorsexist, intersexist, transandrophobic, and enbyphobic behaviors by now.

credits where credits are due: in the spanish translation, zooble uses gender neutral neopronouns. this is, as you can imagine, very controversial. this could apply to other languages as well, but i only speak spanish and english, so i wouldn't know and wouldn't be able to check.

and to give glitch and gooseworx the benefit of the doubt: i know that they themselves don't make the translations and hire companies and teams to do this, so it might get complicated to have such gendered language within translations in these instances. with gooseworx particularly, i'm not sure if she would be able to put her foot down with this in mind. glitch, however.... i'm sure that if they put their foot down, it could've been possible.

i won't comment on the any pronouns bit because i agree with it.

This gets even better when I tell people the Russian Dub Calls Jax a “Bunny Femboy” XDD They play around with this character more than the canonical Trans/Enby character that they can do whatever the hell they want with LOL.

It’s why I believe Zooble is Enby, but Ultimately In highly betting on AMAB (Headcanon of mine). Even when Xem doesn’t really get that opportunity to play around with masculine traits other besides He and Jax having a similar uniform in the Anime Scene. Which I love because it’s cute. Also, @zooble-creechur pointed out that when Jax was speaking about stereotypical “Lesbian that works in Bar and Does Tattoo” It got Em Confused. As if they never were in Lesbian culture. THAT I really want. Again, voices don’t equal Character, and design itself is highly up to interpretation anyway.

Both Jax and Zooble being AMAB with gender problems still fits with a lot that issued anyway. So yeah. You can say it always was just Jax’s usefulness in this discussion lmao.

Maybe Zooble just has very much feminine caregiving qualities and maybe once thought they were Transfem, but never participated in Lesbian culture because maybe they like multiple genders from the beginning. Unlike Jax who thought she was a Femboy and Is a Transwomen. That or maybe Jax is actually a Femboy, but highly likely Nah People pick and Choose what’s canon or not. It’s about taking it at face value or not at face value. Ya know? That’s just my personal interpretation.

As much as I do NOT like the whole “treat non-binary characters like yuri lite or yaoi lite” phenomenon (and this fandom doesn’t even get THAT right, it’s not “lite” it’s just generally treated as and assigned “yuri” fullstop when they should be referring to cos as gynophilic) Zooble actually does “match energy” to both Jax and Caine, so you are NOT making this easy, enby!!! But give tem a break, tey are doin their best. ;)

If the writing on oum would only actually interact with Pomni or Ragatha, we could have T4T butch4butch vibes and prolly the rare het dynamic for all the diamoric stuff going on here.

As for my own interpretation of Zooble, like my Caine Headcanons Doc that generates multiple interpretations to wrangle, th'on's AGAB and gender is the same.

So. I probably should've put two and two together and realized that the show was probably not done lmao

But regardless... man, that was actually a great watch. A significantly darker watch, but still a great watch.

When I first heard about the plot of DDC I thought Jester being a megalomaniac villain would feel cringy but like. Honestly I think the show goes about it in a really interesting way, especially with the way there's so much emphasis on how the others are suffering from her actions.

Jack is technically still abusive to Jangle but there's the nuance of not only Jangle being a piece of shit to others herself (not that that excuses Jack's actions) but also the fact that Jack clearly... doesn't want to do this. He hates playing the part of the Jester's abusive pet.

Nullble is also a really interesting character. Seeing them finally snap and hurt Jangle after all ger ridicule was satisfying, but their apathy towards doing it is indicative of how much the circus has worn them down.

Annie is. Uhh. Look I understand and appreciate the consequences of being power starved but she also choked a cat and ate the head of its infested corpse. So.

...And Crowner and Caine are also there! (<- ironically those two are both the closest to their show counterparts. And also my favorites lmao)
