a promised message - prayer to persephone
Kneeling before the statue to his mother in the Temple of the gods, Oliver looked up at the visage with a nervous smile. Before him he placed down a bouquet of flowers... Roses, crocus', violets, lily's, and larkspur... They were her flowers, the flowers she had used in her wedding bouquet. The flowers that had often whispered the sweetest hello's to Oliver. So much had happened since he last sent a prayer to the gods. There had been trials. There had been loss. His powers had gone through a metamorphosis. He'd lived and loved a lifetime in just seven months. It felt like the adventure would never end, yet he had seen just how quickly it could.
"Hi Momma... Ahm sorry ah haven't come round in a while. After the Trial of Chronus I was fixin' to stop by. Was hoping to send a prayer your way before your trip, but things have been busy... So much has changed..."
The words are unspoken, but his thoughts go to how the timeline had become so different. How he was no longer a child of Demeter, and instead somehow, someway, had become a child of Persephone in this timeline. It brought about many emotions, many fears. Was her worthy? Who had he replaced? Who had he stolen this family from? He's desperate to ask, but at the same time terrified of what the answer might be. So instead he focuses on what he does know, and what he had been asked to do.
"I met my sister... Or well one of 'em"
Thoughts of Illyria, of the pain he had seen in her even if she tried so hard to bury it. Of how her indifference to the world was being used as a shield. She had been burned by love, by a god who had sworn off children only to spawn a champion with another.
"She was.... She seemed upset, and rightfully so."
Her words ringing in his ear... I want to be left alone. It breaks his heart to know that she suffered in such a way. It hurts to know that his sister wanted nothing to do with the family. I want to be left alone. A family that Oliver had clawed his way for... "She wanted me to pass on a message though. She wanted me to ensure that you knew Macaria, the Goddess of Blessed Death, is no more... She gave up that life when Thanatos refused to have a child with her, her only wish now is to be left alone, to be left in peace."
There's a pause, a moment of silence as Oliver closes his eyes. Hesitation before he says the next part, wondering if he has the right to speak it allowed. She had wanted her message delivered, and he had done that. Yet in his heart he still hoped that perhaps she would change her mind... That she would still want to see her family again some day.
"Her name is Illyria now Momma... An while she might not want to be seen right now, ah don't think this is the end. Y'all live forever, and maybe not tomorrow, maybe not next year, or the next ten or even hundred... But I think in time she'll come back 'round. Or maybe she won't... Ah just hope she can find peace..."
