🌹Persephone Correspondents, Worship, and Things I Do For Her Personally 🍵

hello! these are some things ive picked from the internet, things i do, ideas, and more! some ideas are mine, some are not.

things to correspond with her

general: spring, wreaths of flowers in hair, torch, reeds, waterfalls, rivers, and springs, skulls, flowers, blood, plants, shadows, dogs, crowns, flower crowns

colors: purple (esp dark purple and brighter purples like lilac, lavender and pastel), black, blood red, dark red, pastel blue, burgundy, grey, yellow and magenta

favorite people: widows

Spell Jar for Persephone

I recently decided to start making Spell Jars to help honor deities and create a blend of offerings in the name of that deity. Today I made a couple of Spell Jars and mini Spell Jar necklaces for Persephone.

Things you will need as offerings:

🌹 Pomegranite seeds

🌹 obsidian, onyx, or black quartz (optional depending on your resources, but working with crystals always gives and extra magic boost.)

🌹 Wild Flowers/Spring Flowers

🌹 Bark of a Willow Tree (optional depending on your resources but highly suggested if you are able to obtain it)

🌹 Parsley

🌹 Drops of Infused Rose Oil (I make mine homemade and it is incredibly easy to make)

🌹 Bergamont essential oils

🌹 Wheat

🌹 Lillies

🌹 Lavender

You can mix and match your chosen blend of offering a to Persephone and combine them into a Spell Jar. Along with that, you could write a note or short wish or prayer to Persephone and place that note inside your Jar. I seal my Jars with wax and place them on my Altar or with the mini necklace version, around my neck to always have my deity with me.

I’ll be doing more Deity Spell Jars in the future, I just wanted to start with Persephone, one of my deities. 🖤

Leave flowers at empty graves

Wear that lacy/flowery dress and the leather jacket

Wear a flower crown or flower hair pin

Find nature and gentleness in the harshest of places

Practice your “don’t mess with me” look and posture. Use it while walking through crowds

Paint your nails dark red or wear red lipstick

When you find a small animal that has died, honor its life and death. If you can, bury it or leave it someplace for the other creatures of the forest

Go barefoot more often

Buy yourself a houseplant/s

Build your night vision, know your way in the dark

Take time to enjoy the sun whenever it is out

Drink coffee sweetened with honey

Demand respect and a listening ear from all – especially men

Decorate your home with dried flowers in the winter

When people do the unforgivable, hold them to their actions – do not forgive easily

Grow a rosebush or buy yourself some roses

Visit an arboretum or large gardens

Burn a candle for those who died unjustly

Volunteer with organizations that clean and restore forgotten places – graveyards, empty plots of land, etc.

Don’t be afraid to defy stereotypes - if she can be the Spring Maiden and the Iron Queen, you can be anything

Cthonic Incense Cakes For The Dead

Incense to honor the deceased

Ingredients:

1 part Poppy flowers or seeds

1 part Tobacco

1 part Incense resin

1 part Lavender flowers

1 part Rosemary leaves

1 part Ground Cinnamon

Pulverize all ingredients in you trusty Mortar and Pestle. Before trying to grind any type of resin, make sure you have put in in the freezer for 15-30 minutes first. Otherwise it will stick. Once everything is in powder form, start adding drops of honey, and mix until you have a consistency close to clay.

And you’re done! Burn on your charcoal

Persephone Devotional Acts

I saw how much everyone loved my Haides devotional acts post, so here’s another one for the ever-so-lovely Persephone! She has been in my life for a very long time, and I believe that She was one of the first Gods I really connected with. I consider myself to be a true devotee to Her, and She has always been there for me. Remember, all of these acts are what She has responded to positively with me, but everyone’s practice is different!

Stop to smell the flowers–literally!

Pair lace and leather together–she loves this!

This is similar to the Haides act to devoting an outfit to Him. Maybe I’ll make a “Wardrobe Devotion” post if anyone likes the idea? Please comment if you would enjoy a post on it!

Wear pomegranate scented things–perfume, lotion, lip gloss, etc.!

Tend to wild plants if they need care (here in the Midwest, I’ll take water out to the wildflowers if we have a drought)

Go barefoot more often and feel the way the ground feels on your bare feet

Support local farmers and beekeepers

Honor the deaths of animals and if you can, bury them or leave them in a place where nature will care for them

Buy yourself a nice bouquet of flowers, or make your own!

Place flowers on barren graves

Spread seeds of native flowers on the sides of highways or other unincorporated places (be sure to check local laws on this, I know for my we work to preserve prairie flowers and they get planted in grassy knolls by highways and interstates!)

Wear something fancy when you feel like it–make yourself feel like the royalty you are!

Offer her fruits/nuts. I do this by burying a portion of my meal after I devote it to Her.

Listen to music that reminds you of Her.

Side note: I’m definitely going to have to make some playlist posts

Wear a flower crown. No, really. One of my friends has a set that is exclusively dedicated to each of the Gods, and they wholeheartedly adore it.

Collect crystals like rose quartz, garnet, citrine, green tourmaline, and topaz

Rose quartz is a go-to stone for me for many Gods, Persephone being one of the many

She really digs topaz and the tourmaline in my experience

Love yourself, of course, just as She loves you

And many, many more!

persephone’s sacred animals

i’ve found that no one is really sure what animals are sacred to persephone, so here’s a little list of my personal associations! It’s mostly for my own reference, but if they vibe with you, go wild with it!

deer (fawns, specifically. i know deer are artemis’s thing, but fawns are so innocent, like Her kore epithet)

moths and butterflies (moths are,,, ethereal and for me, are symbols of the afterlife)

crows, ravens, and other corvids (again, messengers of death that resonate with Her status as queen of the dead)

foxes (foxes are typically associated with autumn, a transitional state - like persephone’s descent to the underworld)

bats (symbols of power and blood, like pomegrante juice spilling from fingers)

Bones, bones, bones! (Note: remember to honor the animal that once carried them)

Tarot cards/decks you associate with her

Nuts & seeds! I love giving her hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds, and pumpkin seeds. (Note: do not eat food you offer to her!)

It can be as simple as offering Persephone small fruits like plums, peaches, guayabas, cherries, strawberries, and quenepas.

Anything to do with grains! Bread, pasta, oatmeal, breakfast cereals, tortillas, and grits.

Anything mint related like food, a mint plant, or perfume or gum!

Jewelry! I plan on offering her a tiara/crown

Honey in general is a popular offering for her (any deity tbh)

Poetry/Hymns

Candles that smell of flowers or fruits

Herbs, dried flowers/plants, fruit seeds/pits

Crystals that makes you think of her! Angel aura quartz, rose quartz, agate, & opalite screams her name to me!

Drink wise (pour the drink down the sink/outside once you’ve offered), honey & milk, coffee, hot chocolate, water.

Bat, ram, and deer related items/imagery

Devotions | 🍄

Raise some plants! Take care of plants! Sing to plants! Give all your love to plants!!!! Name them too. (‘: (grow some mint maybe!)

Sing her songs that you associate with her! Or hum the songs! I usually hum “Charon’s Crossing” by Beats Antique because it reminds me of her and I love the idea of Persephone and Kharon being buds.

Muse about your past lives with her (if you believe in the concept)! She is the goddess of reincarnation, so no doubt she’s seen you as many different humans/creatures and loves you all the same.

Celebrate Ostara and Imbolc wth her!

Also honor Persephone during Samhain as she returns to the underworld and Haides.

Walk barefoot in forests/fields (be careful tho of glass and stuff)

Contact some Nymphs and begin working with them since Persephone surrounded herself with them a lot! A UPG of mines is that Persephone is the matron of the elven & fae folk as well hehe

Preform bath rituals in her name. Add some flower petals for a nice touch and as an offering to her!

Ask if she wants to cast a spell with you! You both can work together to cast the spell and hang out. Don’t forget to thank her!

Visit a graveyard and clean up, maybe offer the dead some food like nuts, small cakes, fruits, etc. place out some coins too!

Contact her through bone divination! Or take some flowers and do the “they love me/they loves me not” form of divination with a yes/no question.

Read some poetry about her! There’s so many poetries written about her omehaidkeks so read them aloud to her. Also make one for her!

Make a playlist for her!

Set up a bird feeder outside during spring and summer!

Even simply studying her myths and who she is as a goddess is an act of devotion. So don’t overthink it! Do what feels right in regards of devotional acts towards her!

How to get closer | 🌱

Meditate upon her; channel your godphone and let her voice, touch, and thoughts embrace you. Listen to her & talk to her.

celebrate her associated sabbats with her in her honor. Pamper her and spoil her with lovely offerings (it doesn’t have to be expensive offerings! Give what you can, she will be happy no matter what it may be 🥰)

A lot of people who worship chthonic deities such as Persephone, practice spirit work as well. You don’t have to do this, but I see it as a form of becoming closer with her and understanding her more. I personally have not done this yet and probably won’t for awhile, but I think it would benefit the relationship.

If you are romantic with her (even if you aren’t romantic with her, these are very nice gestures), write love letters, bake her sweet treats with the intent of love and forming a stronger bond, leave a space open for her before you go to bed in case she would like to sleep beside you, ask her to accompany you every other day, muse about her.

Open yourself up to her. Show her your joy, sorrow, frustration, anger, etc. don’t hide them and do not be afraid to ask her for help. Tell her about your good or bad days, vent to her, ask for advice, show her every aspect of who you are. You do not have to be happy and serious all the time with her or any deity you devote to, darling.
