Paydrive offers digital car insurance based on driving behavior. The service will be offered in Telia Sense, Telia’s solution for the connected car, this spring. Age, location or car model are classic parameters when calculating car insurance policy. Now, Swedish startup Paydrive has found a way to make insurance fairer by charging customers based on how, where and when they drive. “We want as many as possible to have access to reasonable and more affordable insurance policies. I really look forward to working with Telia to reach out to even more drivers and to extend our offering with Telia Sense to our customers,” says Andreas Broström, CEO, Paydrive. Telia Sense is a cloud based connected car solution. With an app and a small piece of hardware, car owners get access to 4G-wifi and a range of smart services; existing Telia Sense partners Folksam, Bilia, Svensk Bilprovning, Viking Vägassistans and EasyPark are soon to be joined by Paydrive. “Paydrive is a great company with a great service. I’m really happy about the partnership and that we have the possibility to offer Paydrive’s insurances to our customers. Telia Sense has only been around for year and it continues to evolve with new partners and services,” says Henrik Forssell, Partner Manager, Telia Sense. https://www.paydrive.se/

Switzerland’s major telecommunications provider, Swisscom, has plans to start pilot project in Switzerland based on SPARK platform.
By tracking things like driver behaviour, car location and vehicle condition, mobile operators can create a wealth of driver data that can be used to generate personalized and tailored services from themselves and third-party providers.
GDPR is a great opportunity for operators connecting cars, provided a platform architected around privacy is used.
Nordic carrier is undergoing a business and cultural transformation as it grows its connected car services unit and prepares to launch in a third market, says executive.
The platform hosts a range of applications for consumer and business use based on data from the vehicle’s location, driver performance and mechanical information. Telia released Sense in partnership with a number of automotive related companies, including insurance and roadside assistance firms. “You can’t do this on your own,” Meesenburg added, emphasising the importance of engaging with regional businesses before launch: “You need to go in and talk to the local insurance companies, car dealerships, parking and local Telia. This is a new service area.”
Springworks named one of 33 hottest tech companies (again)
Springworks have yet again been named on of Sweden’s hottest tech companies, after having won the same award 2016.
33-listan press release:
Sweden’s 33 hottest tech companies 2017 revealed Stockholm, April 4, 2016
Tonight, for the tenth year in a row, the winners of 33-listan were presented at Münchenbryggeriet in Stockholm. The work to find tomorrow’s most promising tech companies started in January when the jury of 33-listan began touring the country. The jury was on the lookout for companies that offered an innovative product or service with great international potential – innovations that could become a game changer within the tech industry.
“It’s encouraging to see that Sweden has founded so many innovative companies and that previous list winners have managed to succeed at such high levels. Several of them like Spotify have reached an annual turnover of hundreds of millions – while other companies like Mojang have been acquired for billions”, says Kalle Wiklund, journalist at Ny Teknik and member of the jury.
33-listan is based on over 200 nominations from companies all over Sweden, from Malmö in the South to Skellefteå in the North.
“Going on tour gives us a better opportunity to find the hidden gems out there, and it also means that every region gets a chance to be represented on the list”, says Wiklund.
This year, Stockholm dominated the list with 14 companies, but apart from that, the list showed good national spread as several regions made their way onto the list. Among these, 4 companies came from Malmö and 4 from Gothenburg.
“Sweden is a country with several global corporations that all started with an innovative idea. There’s a genuine interest for technology here and we have many talented people that deserves extra attention”, Wiklund concludes.

The winners will be announced in March.
Telia won "Service of the Year 2016" for Telia Sense, developed by Springworks.
