I know I said I was going to distance myself from this piece of media because of all of its terrible connections, but these two characters seem to have taken root in a permanent place in my heart, and I can't let them go.

Anyway, here's some character design notes below the cut for the one person out there who's obsessed with these characters as much as me.

Early DSMP: the era of childhood innocence

Bandanas: They sport each other’s bandana’s (they’re hidden in the design for every era). I love character designs with complementary colors (and I love how red and green are also cranboo’s colors)

Disks: Early on, cat and mellohi represent the peaceful moments ctommy shared with his favorite people, but they went on to be a symbol of victory and independence from the people who have hurt him.

Flowers: Ctubbo collects flowers and tries to memorize the meanings and symbolism tied to each type of flower. He also collects them for his bees.

L’manberg: the era where children became soldiers

Horns: Ctubbo’s horns start to grow in here.

Pogtopia: the era of an exile and a secretary of state / spy

You can tell I joined the fandom at the end of this era because I don’t have many notes here or for the l’manberg era.

Exile: the era of an exile once again and and a president too young

Hair: Ctommy’s hair starts to grow longer as he neglects taking care of himself.

Clothes: Ctommy’s clothes are tattered; one shoe is destroyed and he took to wearing cw-lbur’s (f-ck ccw-lbur btw!!) trench coat.

Bandages: Ctubbo’s wrapped in bandages from his recently earned firework burns. He’s gone blind in his right eye, and he’s missing the ring and pinkie finger on his right hand.

Compasses: They share their matching ‘your tommy’ and ‘your tubbo’ compasses

Hog Hunt: the era where one sought to kill the blood god while the other sought refuge there

Stolen goods: Ctommy’s has his antarctic empire outfit plus all the goods he stole from ctechno like the turtle helmet, golden apples, and the axe of peace.

Bedrock: Ctommy wears his counterpart piece matching techno’s from his ear.

Prosthetic: Ctommy’s right foot had to be amputated after he loses it to frostbite in the trek to cemeraldduo’s cabin. Ctechno gives him a simple prosthetic.

Disc Finale: the era of mended relationships and a final stand

Headband: Ctommy begins to wear a devil headband to fit in more, as he’s one of the few humans on the server. The devil horns were chosen to resemble ceryn’s real ones.

Patchwork: Ctommy learns to sew, and he fixes his tattered clothes from exile.

Post Revival:

Devil horns: Ctommy’s devil horns (plus a tail) become real after revival, and he gets a white streak in his hair.

Prime cross: The bad things that have happened to them both that they survived strengthen ctommy’s faith in prime, whereas they weaken ctubbo’s faith.

Sweater: Ctommy makes himself a sweater from friend’s wool.

Mechanical inventions: Ctubbo pursues his passion for engineering more as he makes mechanical bee drones and studies nuclear physics. He also makes himself prosthetic fingers, and he upgrades ctommy’s prosthetic foot.

Marriage ring: Ctubbo marries cranboo platonically and wears the ring on his horn. He also founds snowchester so he can have a place to protect his loved ones and raise his son. He grows out his hair to avoid eye contact for cranboo and to cover his scars.

Body type: Ctubbo gets chubbier and gains some muscle as he gets a bit happier in life.

Post DSMP:

The prison break and everything after it never happened. These are my OCs, and I make the rules because every actor/writer who played a part in their creation either abandoned them or turned out to be a terrible person. Cbenchtrio live happily ever after and begin their journey of healing while cdream rots in prison forever.

emerges from trenches. anyway. as i said. the spreadsheets got to me. so this is that. (some kind of stats comparison of all the life series mcc sweats- joel scott martyn jimmy grian gem pearl). it's only s4&5 stats (made post P25) because going any earlier feels unfair to people like jimmy (has been on some kind of sweat arc) and too nice to people like grian (not a sweat anymore)

PVP:

this is everyone's combined radar charts for the 4 pvp games. it is very much impossible to read though so here's it broken down a bit more with comparisons that i find fun. and notes.

these are all the indiv ones! (the scale is weird because it won't let me just keep a fucking maximum number. so please look at the numbers. it is necessary). for pearl's battle box and survival games specifically i can't in good faith not say that she has played those games only once and both were pretty special cases. anyway!!

pvp winners of my spreadsheeting (w avg placements):

battle box: 1st = joel (10.8), 2nd = pearl (11)- if we take pearl out on account of her playing once it'd be jimmy (15.67).

meltdown: 1st = gem (15), 2nd = pearl (17th)

sky battle: 1st = gem (15.67), 2nd = martyn (16.75)

survival games: 1st = pearl (10), 2nd = scott (19)- if we take pearl out on account of her playing once it'd be 1st = scott (19), 2nd = gem (26)

fun comparisons:

i think joel vs. scott says alot about them. scott's success in survival games makes alot of sense when considering everything he's said about his tryhard strategy and him being a less aggressive player overall- meanwhile joel's gap in battle boxagain makes perfect sense since it is not dependent on surival strategies or playing it safe, and instead playing aggressively so that you can actually get the limited kills available is rewarded more. also battle box not having gear inequalities + joel's mechanical pvp skill being much greater than scott's is relevant here too

bad boys are just interesting because they all kind of have the same strengths and weaknesses i guess

fun comparisons:

comparing joel and scott is just something i'll always do sorry. whatever clovis said that time abt how being a joel fan is pitting them against each other all the time Yeah That's Me. the gap in parkour tag is interesting to me because parkour tag is one of the games i feel like scott's is better than joel at sometimes?? and they have a few rly close placements in (BC 7th and 8th, Party 20th and 23rd, 34 15th and 13th. there's more but it's fine). the important thing here is their pkt playstyles are the complete opposite- joel heavily prefers hunting to running and this becomes very clear in his pkt results as well as how he will often hunt 4 rounds (the maximum), while scott often only hunts 1 round. this says alot about them i think.

scott vs martyn is just rly fun.

jimmy vs grian is interesting too because as i said jimmy has improved alot recently and has been more of a sweat while grian barely plays- only as a substitute or in special events, and is quite. um. rusty!! (e.g. him literally not understanding any of the pkw scoring in HH). BUT when looking at their charts overlaid it becomes obvious that grian is just naturally rly good at movement lol. and also his rsr being inflated.

joel vs martyn is here because they are by far the best mcc movement players in the life series (only ones with sprinter archetype on the wiki too). surprisingly joel is just very consistent across the movement games (inconsistent within them though- he has a tendency to always fumble a few laps or rounds. but apparently he's good enough that this doesn't matter that much). martyn beating joel in pkw is interesting but not too surprinsing to me because i'm pretty sure martyn at least knows some of the tech while joel knows nothing and has been brute forcing the parkour games this whole time. god bless.

i really wish i was articulate enough w words to express just how much cpurpled means to me likeee hes Literally just the embodiment of everything that the dsmp is to me and all the packaged grief of 2020 and how we used to be good people but you were ripped from your cocoon before your wings could fully bloom. the stars in the night sky are the most beautiful things you've ever seen so you build a ufo in dreams of one day touching them and for a little while there is nothing in this land to do but live. but you of all people should know that the horsehair we hang by is threaded by lofty ideals and fracturing dreams and at one unknowable point or another the world becomes cruel instead of kind and it is fangs that line your jaw instead of teeth and that home you built that was going to reach the stars becomes a shattered skeleton in the ground. Something has been taken from you and all you can do to bandage that gaping hole in your chest of dreams that died before they could even make it off the ground and siphon it with a rage that burns as intensely as the supernovas etched in the stars you used to love. claw your way out of this bottomless nothing. put all of your chips on the table so that all of this loss can be chalked up to something. you are such a spiteful thing and you try God you try so hard to become something outside of this terrible grief but the house always wins and your home is long gone and it ends with your battered half broken wings burning as you fall from the spire you fought tooth and nail to reach the summit of and your heart lodged in your throat and from where you lay bleeding out on the ground, the stars have never been more out of reach
