It’s like. A reading of Marinette’s character as a young girl with undiagnosed adhd is so core to my understanding of the show that I sometimes forget that’s not how everyone views it. Like, you’re this little neurodivergent kid and you grow up with this hashtag indestructible barrier between you and the other kids your age, and you’re too loud and too hyper for them so by the time you’re 13 you’re a quiet shut-in drawing designs when you aren’t being an anxious mess. But then a little magical bug shows up in your room and suddenly you get this chance to be so much more. Suddenly you don’t have to be the jittery weird girl with no friends, at least not all the time. You can be the hero, who always saves the day with a clever plan right in the nick of time. You have a boy who seems to genuinely like you, even if he’s an obnoxious flirt sometimes. You don’t care, he’s your friend, hell sometimes you even flirt back. Because why wouldn’t you?
