Whooops! This is what happens when you accidentally give the same name to two different graphics in separate FLAs and then combine them when putting all the scenes together! *canned laughter* Herp-derp!
And yes, I am putting all the scenes together now. S&P2 is so close to completion that I can smell the sandviches! :-} (Still got some audio and credits to add.) See you on the other side!

It's interesting that you use GMod instead of SFM, would you say it's easier to use if you're just screencapping backgrounds like that? I've only ever used SFM because it's free, so I don't know the difference.
I haven’t actually tried out SFM yet, but I’ve had GMod since about 2009, so it was there. Grabbing backgrounds is relatively easy enough to do that I haven’t thought of using SFM for it, but someday I’ll make the switch and try out some character animation.
 Capturing backgrounds is easy - making GMod-animated videos is much trickier. In fact, GMod’s focus towards being a sandbox rather than animation program (or rather, my frustration with that, lol) is a big reason why I made Spy & Pyro as a Flash animation instead of with GMod ragdolls like most pre-SFM TF2 fan-videos. Well-known GMod animators like BoSchitt (of Idiot Box fame) have nurtured that simple, puppet-y animation style within the limitations of the program, but even that was beyond my level of GMod-skill circa 2010, for the most part.
Something to beware of in GMod is that it’s notorious for bugs and unwanted updates for a good reason, and sometimes you have to use developer commands to make things work properly. Even capturing backgrounds is probably easier in SFM if you want a steadily moving camera. In one scene of S&P2 I’ve got the camera slowly rotating while looking slightly upwards, but to do that I couldn’t just tell the camera where to go. I had to build this contraption:
(Yes, the camera is inclined on a couple of books. We spared no expense!)
And of course in GMod you manipulate everything with the “physics gun” which is kind of like playing Operation with one of those grabby hand-on-a-stick toys. At least the invisible motor that makes this contraption rotate is smoothly controlled with numpad keys. When S&P2 comes out you can decide if the end justified the means! :D
Update: For a later, more complicated scene I downloaded an addon for GMod that lets you tell the camera where to go (approximately), called Catmull-Rom Cinematic Camera. It's not great for finely-tuned movements and you can't save your track (because errors), but for general camera stuff it does the job!
When capturing backgrounds in GMod, sometimes it's useful to throw some ragdolls in there as a scale guide for the yet-to-be-drawn Flash-animated characters. Usually only for scenes for a character whose proximity to the camera changes significantly, or multiple characters at various proximities.
(Don't forget to remove the ragdolls before capturing the BG shot once you've captured your guide shot!)

Although I've been busily animating every day (and night), I haven't been able to make any spoiler-free previews lately, due to working on a series of action-packed scenes leading up to the climax of the story, where every shot is basically a spoiler!
