I'm excited to share this story with you! Heart and Stone quite literally came to me in a dream. I hope this gets a little traction since I want people to see this and see what I felt when making this story. If it becomes popular, I'll make a taglist maybe??? Who knows. But with that aside, please enjoy the Prologue to Heart and Stone.
One step, two step, three step, repeat. The music guided the small feet of Hannah and Kairan through the motions of waltz. The two giggled as they danced, stepped on another another's feet, and tried not to get caught chit-chatting. “Let's do this every day!”Hannah whispered to Kairan with excitement only a child her age could have. Kairan tried his absolute best to laugh as quietly as he could so the adults wouldn't get mad at them again, but failed.“Every day? How about every week? On this day.”His suggestion made Hannah smile wide before she answered with an enthusiastic yes. For years they kept this routine up. When Kairan would visit, they’d dance in the ballroom. Over the years, this pattern began to die down as they grew further and further apart. Once a week slowly became once a month, and once a month became once a year. Then, the night Kairan visited one last time before the ties between the two kingdoms were cut off, he decided to entertain his inner child. He had bowed and asked Hannah of the Jade Spire to dance. “Hannah Jade, I ask of you one last wish, princess of the Jade Spire. May I have this one last dance?”Music meant for love played in the background by the orchestra, but slower, sadder, and more yearning. Hannah took Kairan's hand and gave a curtsy, allowing the prince to dance with her for the final time. The dance was full of emotion, and longing, daresay love. The two yearned to be able to do this for eternity, to dance together in this forbidden embrace forever. But it wasn't to be. And Before she knew it, Kairan of the Hematite Spire, had left and taken her heart with him, just like he took her first kiss… Decades later, war broke out. The Hematite Spire followed the Ruby Spire into battle, while the Jade Spire followed the Quartz Spire to fight against the Ruby Spire armies. The world was divided over who to follow, Ruby or Quartz, while Hematite and Jade already chose sides before the war began. It seemed like it was to be like any other war. Canons, swords, horses, shields and spears. But then the cataclysm happened.
