June’s comfort character is Quasimodo from the hunchback of Notre Dame. He made me feel seen as a kid. I’ve not spoken with a lot about this, but as a kid I grew to my current height very quickly in a short amount of time, and everyone else grew slower and normal. I often felt like a monster like he did; unsolicited comments about my body didn’t help. However he never made how the world saw him keep him from trying to see the best in everyone. Even, if it wasn’t there (Frolo), if it was not easy (Phoebus) and if he didn’t get that same energy back. (Esmerelda) He inspires me to keep creating, even when others don’t understand it or me.

May is such a Pippi Longstocking month for me. My favorite version of this plucky red haired girl you oughta know is from the 1988 film. Pippi taught me so many coping mechanisms I never realized came from her until I revisited this classic. She is a plucky and unique comfort character to me. Tami Erin brought magic into this movie that brought me such joy as a little squiggs, may we all be blessed enough to be as clever as Pippi.

Aprils Comfort character is Loonette (and Molly) from The big comfy couch! I only had the VHS with the liar liar pants on fire song, but remember renting another one from a local library. Alyson Courts portrayal of Loonette still sticks with me, I always felt bad for clowns when other kids said they were afraid of them. This type of clowning got me off my own big comfy couch and made me actually want to stretch and clean up.

March’s Comfort character is Numbuh 3 from #codenamekidsnextdoor! I love this show so much it had such clever writing and I adored the #knd world created by @warburtonlabs Growing up #numbuh3 was my favorite (but it’s so difficult to choose a favorite) a super expressive girl, who wasn’t afraid to be herself, and to love joyful things with her whole heart 💚 This show got me through a lot, especially a season where I was having a lot of health issues, it brought me so many laughs and eased a lot of fears. This show is so underrated and I can’t find any more words to describe how much of an impact it had on me. I’m still holding onto the dream of the G:KND

Nearly forgot to post my comfort character sketch for February: Dogman!!!! 🐾I still am so happy I got to see the Dogman musical when it was touring near me. Reading the books and listening to the soundtrack have helped me power though a lot of anxiety since I discovered and delved into the series last year, and it inspired me to make this monthly comfort character series. it’s such a fun read/watch/listen and I’m so grateful I get to exist at the same time this series does.

I finally completed coloring my January comfort character sketch 🥳 Gonzo was always my favorite and this song meant so much to me growing up.

Forgot to post this in Tumbr! I’ve enjoyed listening to the cat kid comic club musical and this is one of my favorite songs.

Something that’s been able to respark my love of drawing has definitely been Dogman, I made these for Valentines Day in anticipation of #dogmanmusical it was such a fun show and really brought the pages of the #dogman comics to life. If it’s coming to your town I’d definitely fetch tickets it’s a blast from beginning to end.

I’m going to go back there someday…

This year a goal of mine is to post a sketch of a comfort character at least once a month, starting strong with a good one #gonzothegreat as a kid I would listen to this song and daydream about space exploration. I love #themuppets

Thank you to thetimeofsome and @rememberingwaves for their work on this project, I had so much fun jumping in here to do a voice line on this fan tribute to @narcissistcookbook myth project. MERRY MYTHSMAS! (My line is right before the 3 minute mark) such a fun album and a great community of funky cool people.

Changed gears this year for death blart And I have made a movie bingo sheet to watch along to the film with. If you play with more than one person only the first person to call things in the background that correlate with a square get to mark it for blingo. Can’t wait to see what the crew comes up with for this years episode. #tilldeathdousblart
