Both mrs vinouomosette and i thought it might be nice to watch Hamilton tonight, since it’s the Fourth of July. I gotta be honest, when we started watching, I got weepy thinking about the current political situation in our country. I have an immense amount of animosity toward our government, its enablers and the people that support it. Thinking of how far we’ve fallen as a nation sickens me. While the country has always been far from perfect, I’ve usually felt there were things about it that could make one proud. I can’t say I feel that way now. I hope I can regain that pride.

In 1959, police were called to a segregated library in South Carolina when a nine-year-old black boy refused to leave. He later got a Ph.D. in Physics from MIT, and died in 1986, as one of the astronauts aboard the space shuttle Challenger. The library that refused to lend him books is now named after him.
