The evolution of the design process with Adobe XD

We’ve gone from print design to screen design to experiences design, but have our programs caught up to the ever changing landscape?

@HoyleWang from Adobe explains how XD is going to revolutionize and streamline the design process for digital.

There is a lot of friction when you go from one program to the next and Wang explains how XD will help solve this issue. Currently UX designers are constantly going between sketch to pushing live prototypes or wireframes then into Photoshops with the art directors and then pushing to Zeplin before sending off to developers. Although XD is still in beta it’s streamlining the process into one program. And because it is in the Adobe suite it works on both Macs or PCs unlike some of the other programs UXD are currently working in.

Adobe is also working on better ways to export better for developers but you can currently output svgs at 2x and 3x to hand off along with a living breathing prototype so developers can see exactly how you intend interactions and motion to work.

XDs main feature is screen to screen transitions and they are working on the integration of overlays into the program.

Other features include sharing with teams or clients where they can comment directly on the site (similar to marking up a static PDF but right on the staging site) and you can send the site to your clients and record to see how they interact with it.
