About a year and half ago I wrote a song about an incredible story, the story of a girl who always lived on the outside, looking in. Figuratively and literally. The juxtaposition of her loneliness and independence. Her longing and her stillness. Her curiosity and fear, all tangled up. Her persisting gentleness… and the world’s betrayal of it. I wrote this one alone in the middle of the night and then Aaron Dessner and I meticulously worked on a sound that we felt would be authentic to the moment in time when this story takes place. I made a wish that one day you would hear it. ‘Carolina’ is out now 🥺

You can clearly tell who did and didn’t watch Carmilla based on all the First Kill critiques. Oh the monsters have bad cgi? On Carmilla we didn’t even get to see the monsters. Oh the scenes are shot from weird angles? On Carmilla we got one angle and never questioned why everyone was conveniently standing on one side of the room. Oh the plot is rushed and bad? On Carmilla all of the plot was entirely off screen and you know what? We loved every second of it

First kill is like that one fanfic that has the exact situation u want but the writing is absolutely terrible but you have to stick it out to the end because it’s what u want 😭😭
