This Girl Described My Life
moodyauror:
Moody threw her a look, and placed the sandwich he had been holding back on his plate. âCould you be more vague?â he asked. âIs it the sandwich? The coffee? The sitting down and eating lunch for five bloody minutes? Or something else entirely, hmmm?âÂ
âI donât control when and how the spirits talk to me,â she said airily, though she was a little put out by his rudeness. She was only trying to help. âThough in my experience they tend to be more helpful when people are polite.âÂ
amycuscrrow:
Amycus had heard the name. Heâd heard it whispered in the pure blood world; a joke, a mockery, an annoyance. But sitting here with her, he realized that maybe she was not all of that. Maybe she was quite like him, but with more of an affinity for the mystic side of that. Amycus was just good at reading people, and she could tell that she knew who he was. âDid you practice the list? I feel like I need to give my own now, although itâs not nearly as long.â
âWell, no. It is just who I am and what I do. Isnât that what you wanted to know?â she said, and then fluffed her hair lightly with one hand. She wasnât bothered by the comment. It was quite a long list of things, and she knew that she could rattle it off very smoothly. âDidnât I just say I already know who you are? Though I suppose you can give me the list if you really like.âÂ

He nods as she repeats what heâs there for. âI agree, thereâs definitely a lot of crime going around right now.â he speaks. âBefore we get started there is a few things I have to ask of you?â he begins looking at her hesitantly, he hopes not to offend her by saying this but ââŠyouâll have to sign a release form for the information weâll trade, and also I must ask that you legally and magically stay in confidence about any information I may give you that you need for the caseâŠor an accurateâŠreading?â
âGo ahead dear,â she said as she set a kettle to boiling with her wand. She was about to offer him tea when he brought up the matter of confidentiality. She never gave out information about her clients anyway, but what if she wanted to add that she was working for the aurors to her resume?
âSo... wait. Are you saying that I will not be able to tell anyone what Iâm doing? What if I solve the crime?â Sybill wanted to build credibility. What was the point in helping him if she couldnât even take credit?

He blinked and backtracked swiftly wondering internally if the ministry would accept an expenses report for a seerâŠprobably not. âOf course Iâll cover any costs you have.â he reassured immediately. âItâs just thatâŠI work as an Auror, and a certain case has run cold. No leads what so everâŠthey figured it might be worth it to try?â
She smiled when he said he would pay her, and when he mentioned he was an auror she wondered if she could get away with the rate that she usually charged per minute for a telephone consultation. Probably not. âAuror business?â she asked before she could entirely regain her composure. That was definitely not what she had been expecting. âOf course. Though I will need to know a few more details. I may even need to go to a few of the crime scenes to read the auror. There is rather a lot of crime these days, you know.â
amycuscrrow:
Amycus shook his head at her explanation, unable to understand someone who wouldnât just truly ask for what they wanted. Of course, there was nothing that he could say to change her mind. Sheâd already sat down with the bloody salad, and if she was right, then there was no way she could eat it. His eyes roamed back over to the line and he looked to the cabinet, eyes quickly spotting what she had pointed out. Pushing his sandwich away, he sighed and looked over at her. âWho are you?â he asked.
âSybill Trelawney,â she replied with a smile. She knew who he was, of course. He had only been a few years below her at Hogwarts, and as far as she was concerned, it paid to know who belonged to the upper echelons of society, and in many ways that was still the purebloods. Besides, she liked to think it made her appear more all-knowing, and therefore more authentic as a Seer. âMystic, fortune teller, life coach and columnist for the Daily Prophet. I already know who you are, of course.â
vermiscauda:
Well, that didnât sound good. The fact his fate needed changing meant it was going down a bad road. What was going to happen to him? âAt least there is still a chance for me then,â he muttered. As if he needed more worries to add to his pile. âDonât we all have a number of paths we could take?â Every choice led to a different road and a million little choices made the future, ever changing. It was why heâd never put much stock in Divination, the answers they gave were always vague since the future wasnât set in stone. âProbablyâŠbut how do you stop a mind from worrying?â It wasnât like he enjoyed it, but his brain just refused to be quiet.
She smiled at him, and wanted to tell him that there was always a chance. Of Course there was. But she didnât, because she wasnât really sure that she believed it. âYou would be surprised. For some people it is less of a change. More like picking a flavour at an ice cream shop. The experience might be a little different, but you are still eating ice cream,â she said with a small shrug, but then she stopped, and cocked her head to the side like she might be listening for something. âBut you are not one of those.â
âWell there are a great many number of techniques that you can learn. It sounds as though you might need a life coach.â And what luck, it just so happened that that was one of the many services that Sybill offered.Â
kingerosier:
âWho are you, my mother?â Evan asked as he took another sip of his drink, âI am a strong, independent man who does not need a woman to tell me what to do, and if I want to drink an entire bottle of jack I canâ.
âMerlin, I should hope not. Not least of all because of how old that would make me,â she said with a smile and a wink. âYes, but that does not make it a good idea. Is there a reason you are drinking an entire bottle of Jack? Or is it simply a whim?â

Peter had never been much of a fan of divination and now was no exception. âAh, do you see how I go out then?â he asked morbidly curious and also terrified. He didnât really believe she could but heâd asked all the same. âI have so many worries, which do you mean?â
âNot precisely,â she said, with a shake of her head. âIt is more like... there are a number of paths. I feel as though you could still change your fate.â She looked at him curiously as he confessed to having worries. âSuch a shame, for someone so young to have such troubles. Have you considered that being worried about them might be bringing them about or making them worse?â
amycuscrrow:
Amycus stopped mid-bite as the girl began talking, eyebrows raising as she went on her spiel. He slowly lowered his sandwich, not so much because he believed her (he wasnât sure if he did, really), but because he was just curious about how she knew all of that. He was observant; in fact, he prided himself on that trait. Yet, he didnât notice any of those details; details that he often had in his back pocket. âHowâd you know all of that?â he asked, simply, leaning forward. âAnd why did you order the salad if you knew you werenât going to eat it?â
âBecause I was attempting to see what else they had. But I had already ordered and paid. It would have been too much of a bother to change my mind at that point,â she said. Sybill was exceptionally observant. She had to be, to fill in the gaps when her Sight and intuition failed her. âIâm sure theyâre still there if you want to check for yourself. Not everyone bothers to look in the cabinet, especially not if theyâre going to order a la carte.âÂ

Frank had been glancing around the place wondering if the woman was even inside. So when the door opened his head had to sap back to look at her. He blinked at her before registering her words as odd. âYou sense?â he repeated. Was this what he was to expect with the woman? He supposed he couldnât judge just yet. âYeah actually.â he began. âI was referred to yourself by a colleague, Iâm Frank Longbottom.â he introduces. âI was told you may be able to help me outâŠif youâre free.âÂ
When he repeated what she had said she frowned slightly, and tried to gauge whether perhaps she had misread the situation. Was he not there to hear his fortune? âWell actually I am usually told that I am very expensive,â she said with a tight smile, âBut I have a little time. Come in. Would you like some tea while you tell me why your colleague thought I might be able to help you?â
blackestbellatrix:
Bellatrixâs eyebrow arched in a way that would even have made her mother proud at the mention of her being a scorpio. She was, but that was beside the point. âI didnât think it was helpful to hand out fake warnings like theyâre renowned wisdom⊠Frankly, I think anyone would find that annoying.â She scoffed, bringing the cigarette sheâd been about to light before being so rudely interrupted to her lips. âBesides, is it any of your business what I do?â
âItâs not fake,â she said with a rather dramatic roll of her eyes. âI could not care less what you do. But it would be against my conscience not to offer a warning where one was warranted. What you do with it is up to you.â
