my thoughts on the 'black family madness

fyi the grammar and spelling in this might not be perfect but whatever

this is my quite brief thoughts on, Narcissa, Bellatrix, Sirius, Walburga, and Regulus

theres 2 sides to the black families mental illness

1 is the silent guilt, and loneliness, and depression. All the emotions that are usually associated with them not being able to speak out against their abusive family without fear of being disowned and isolation n all that.

I think Narcissa displayed this a lot when she was younger being quieter, more reserved, and like she was more a doll for family photos than a little girl suffering in a house that she hates. Though shes a lot more calm and well presented when shes a Malfoy because shes with Lucius and Draco family who she feels safe around that she can actually heal from her childhood through being there for Draco.

I think Walburga and Regulus also share this, the silent rot that chips away at their mental state from bottling things up.

Regulus gets more the depressive version whereas Walburga does it to survive to stay silent in a family she knows she isnt safe in to go up against.

2 is the actual insanity the madness that theyre known for. I think along with being insane and erratic it includes traits like, mood swings, obsession, possessiveness, and episodes of acting out.

Obviously Bellatrix has it but i think she displayed it when she was a young child. And that she was shown as a bad example or a disgrace because of it, they knew she would be insane so they gave her an arranged marriage and she was pushed to the side as 'a poor case' or a shame.

Sirius has it too especially after azkaban, I think his is more bottled up resentment, and that he refuses to move on sort of thing rather than him being just mad like Bellatrix.

I think it showed up more as anger in his side of the family something he got from Walburga and her own display of it in the abuse she showed Regulus and Sirius in their childhood.

And I think Regulus got it with his idolisation of Voldemort, his obsession with Voldemort and pleasing his family lead to the behaviours and he went insane more slowly, though in the end showed more of s depressive state before he killed himself.

Druella would only let her babies sleep in cribs that look like this and always uses unnecessarily fancy shit for her girls she believes they can only have the best quality material and anything less isn’t good enough for them

Quillkiller is a terrible ship that makes absolutely no sense. It's way better for the Marauders fandom to just stop talking about Bella than to make up that horrible OOC ship.

And don't even get me started on the shitty headcanon that Bella was jealous of Sirius for being 'the heir' or wanted to be a boy. What the fuck? There's no indication that's even a thing. THEY WERE FROM DIFFERENT BRANCES OF THE FAMILY. And it's a complete misunderstanding of Bella's character too. She clearly loves being a woman.

People need to stop projecting themselves on characters that are nothing like them to make them more palatable and easier to understand.

While I do enjoy quillkiller sometimes I agree with your frustration

I've never actually heard of that hc but that doesn't make any sense. Obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinions but I think canon made it pretty clear Bella never missed out on anything while growing up
