To Live is Christ - original print from The Worship Project.
You know those moments when you’ve felt spiritually “dry” for a while? When it seems like God is far away, and it feels like you just keep messing up and failing every day? Well, I’ve been feeling this way for the past few weeks.
On my way to work this morning, I felt Holy Spirit with me in my moment of need. As this song played, I felt Him whisper the lyrics in a beautifully confronting way.
This is a powerful song - one of utter conviction. It speaks of a life in absolute devotion to Christ and His purposes.
In the midst of feeling like a failure, and feeling like some struggles are impossible, Holy Spirit prompted me again and reminded me that it’s all about our outlook on life. I have a choice to make. Yes, I made a vow when I was 5, to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, but I also have a vow to make - day in, day out - where I choose my allegiance - where I choose purity and righteousness over laziness and complacency.
There is no denying that we have a very REAL struggle against the rulers and powers of this world, but I just feel it so strongly in my heart to urge us all (myself included) back to our roots, to our first love, to a place of purity, and a daily vow of allegiance with our all-loving, all-capable KING.
I pray these lyrics encourage you; may they become your prayer…a very present help in time of need.
“I make a vow, my life will always honor Christ, whether I live or die. I belong to Him, He bore my sin, I owe this life to my saving King. Hallelujah I am not my own, You are in control Hallelujah. For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. No matter what price I pay, I choose to give this life away. Only by the cross I am saved.”
