some wierdo freak hits on Ellis. the way i edited this so much cuz i didnt want it to be OOC cause like Ellis can 100% handle themselves so i tried to make it more lighthearted and not as intense T-T I hope I got the vibes right lol

Flirty customers were not unusual occurrences for Ellis. They could handle the occasional compliment, hair twirl, batting of eyelashes, and even doled out some flattery and compliments of their own. At the end of the day, the bookstore relied on customers, and what better incentive for a return customer than a disarmingly attractive and friendly clerk?
Of course, once they started getting involved with their Gem, the bookkeeper made sure to dial back the flirty banter, despite reassurances that Gem trusted them entirely and that their current behaviour towards customers was in no way a cause of concern or point of contention between them. They knew where to draw the line and an awkward laugh or raised eyebrow was typically enough to chase off the more forward customers.
But this man was…truly testing the limits of Ellis’s patience.
They sigh, practically feeling the veins on their forehead pop. For the last ten minutes, they’d been dealing with, truly, the most infuriating customer ever; flirtatious in the worst, sleaziest, most invasive way possible. So painfully unaware (or purposely ignorant?) of Ellis’s disinterest.
How many times had they forced a small barely there laugh? How many times had they asked if he was ready to check out (every time refuted by a slimy grin and a shudderingly gross retort along the lines of checking them out)? Too many times. Ellis was truly at a loss for what to do.
‘Right’ The book-keeper cracked their proverbial knuckles, ‘2 minutes to politely kick out this…specimen and meet my Gem for snuggles and kisses’ Fueled by the thought of their Gem’s bright smile and warm arms around them, they straightened up.
Their bookstore was a peaceful place and Ellis intended to keep it that way.
“Well, as…interesting as this conversation has been.” They muster an awkward chuckle and put on their best ‘forced customer service’ voice, “You’ll have to leave soon, we’re closing for the day.”
“Aww, really? Well, maybe you can, uh, keep the store open for a bit longer, hm? For me?” Ellis feels the uncomfortable, sweaty weight of a palm land clamp down on their forearm before it registers in their head and something goes very, very still..
With an uncomfortable laugh and a small grimace, Ellis picked up the man's wrist, depositing it away from them and with the most deadpan tone, “Please do not touch me. I am very happily in a committed relationship and am not even slightly interested in you. This store will close in 2 minutes, and if you refuse to leave the premises, I will have you escorted out by law enforcement.”
“A committed relationship? I don’t see anyone here but us, sweet stuff.”
An eye twitch.
A door jingle snaps Ellis out of their blistering rage—the familiar sound of boots on wooden floors, the familiar attire of their love. Gem, in all their glory, stands at the door, eyebrow raised.
“Maybe you should open your eyes then.” With a press of their lips, Gem points out to the empty street. “Store’s closed. Please leave.”
“Actually- “Leave at once or you will find out exactly how much pepper spray is left in this bottle.”
They raise the pepper spray and shake it menacingly, pointing it directly at the man. Ellis prayed to whatever deity there was that Gem would not unleash all hell on this creep because, as much as they wanted him to face the rage of their Gem, the angle that Gem was standing at meant that any pepper spray would hit both the man and Ellis.
“Fucking- whatever man, you’re a fucking bitch anyway.” The man shoved past Gem, hands in his pocket sauntering off into the evening.
They pause for a second, watching the man leave, before moving to occupy the space the man once stood.
“Are you ok? I’m sorry I took so long.” Gem’s voice was quieter than normal.
Their hand comes up to cup Ellis’s cheek, thumb sweeping across their cheekbone.
They hum lightly, “More annoyed than anything.” And then, simply because it was true, and Ellis had always been an honest person, “If anything, seeing you threaten that creep really was quite attractive.”
Their voice drops an octave, and they revel in Gem’s flush. “Let me lock up the store, and then I’ll show you how thankful I am.”
“You’re buying dinner?” Gem beams at them. Ellis chuckles, moving to put away the books that had been left out by previous customers.
“Sure, Gem. I’ll buy dinner.”
By the time Ellis turned the key in the lock, Gem was already a few steps down the road, musing about evening plans and new recipes they wanted to try. Ellis half-listened, not quite following. It didn’t matter though, as Ellis fell into step beside Gem, their hands slipping into their partner’s, Gem not once faltering in their rambling.
I love seeing everyone’s interpretations of the listener characters but sadly I am very uncreative and all of the listeners are just me wearing different hats
My favorite thing to do is get really absorbed and busy with all my work from school and letting all of Saku’s audios marinate, when I finally become free it feels like going on a shopping spree
