yeah pissing me off people keep going on about how the trans masc character would be better as a woman (erasing Asgore's and Rudy's queerness in the process) and how an apparent nonbinary transfem character is actually a fully binary trans woman

yeah because like. ok this is just me personally flowerking shippers don't be discouraged, but i always saw flowery invoking rudy's image to asgore as a way to comfort him, and... well. we're dealing in metaphor again. because what does it mean that this facsimile of rudy pursues asgore with romantic overtures? flowery himself doesn't blush or seem especially invested in an actual romantic relationship with asgore... but he seems to think being wooed is something asgore would appreciate, from someone presenting themself as a man who looks like rudy.

i've seen several people mention that flowery apparently is being targeted for gender bending and claims he would serve the story better as a woman. i can't confirm or deny that bc i have never of my own volition gone into his tag <3 i er never go in any tags anymore. they piss me off. i let posts fall into my lap by happenstance instead.

anywho. it seems the implication is that asgore is closeted and i guess everybody in this goddamn town is. ralsei says their gender is 'context based' and they enjoy 'being a butler' but not when he is made to be. so far, he hasn't used she/her pronouns outright, but i think that's more of a matter of time thing. seems to me ralsei wants to be a she/he/they! but enby identities. just aren't taken seriously. ralsei flushes around kris, another enby, and flowery, a gnc man. ralsei is attracted to people who don't present their gender in the 'standard' fashion and they admire it, yes.

unfortunately trying to get the queer community to like, stop picking a scapegoat to lolcow to hell and back is next to impossible and we're riding the wave of 'trans men don't experience transphobia or misogyny' and have people saying shit like yaoislop or whatever so. gun in my mouth i guess! and i don't wanna pick on anyone who hasn't played through ch5 all the way yet bc before ch5 ralsei just refused to open up much about himself and how he felt about his own gender, beyond being stifled by his 'prince' role. but. i fear the call is coming from inside the house.

I think as the game goes on it becomes more obvious that dess is not the knight, at least not dess in the way most people think— some corrupted vessel once their soul was knocked out, the body of dess puppeteered by sentiment in the dark world. I've said some version of this from the start, that the knight is not literally dess, just taking on a form through December's body. I idly played with the concept of Asriel being the knight, but it's like would Toby do that shit. Twice. Asriel strikes back type shit, revenge of the goats or whatever??? Only insofar as it would be the case that he is not the 'final boss' i feel. In fact that could end up being Kris, although the concept. Agonizes me. Conceptually. But I could see a world in which we are returned to our vessel, susie and ralsei begrudgingly team up with us to stop Kris once Asriel Knight is out of the way or what have you… and the (vague handwave) concept of that makes me a bit sick to my stomach. And I'm not so sure that's the Point here.

it would certainly make the knight attacking flowey i mean flowery sorry flowery very interesting thematically but it makes me wonder more about what toby is trying to say about asriel in this case. especially considering during the anniversary thing mr annoying dog said there's still someone left we have to save, and that's chara. chara too had a red soul, and lost body, and so on and so forth. even if ultimately deltarune is not undertale nor is it trying to be

so i always assumed cerise was taking refuge in her father's church whilst homeless, without either of them ever knowing they were actually relatives. this was for a period of about a year, before— well, I digress. while that could certainly still be the case it would be foolish of me not to explore cerise's relationship with the flowers lmao. considering. we know dark worlds have been opening for a long ass time, and asgore is certainly familiar with them. cerise could've ended up in the dark world in the flower shop on more than one occasion. i think, while they were homeless, it may have been somewhere they ended up quite a lot. considering this chapter establishes plants have special abilities and attunements to the dark world, it's likely cerise could've been seeking them out for ages. not that they have the words for what it all means— and most people just think they're crazy. nothing new, doesn't require much of a rewrite. i think plant lightners are exceptionally rare, so the flowers assume cerise is a new plant in the shop that asgore must've been taking care of in another room… cerise just adores aqua, and tends to dote on her endlessly, when she's not dancing with blue. her and flowery have a complex relationship. but ultimately, these people were taking care of them as they were unhoused, until the dark world reclosed. and cerise thinks ah. i hallucinated all of it, of course. my aching body and feverish mind.

hmmm. in a modern nonmagical au i do think flowery or um. mr florian jarona would be a camp counselor yes. and might own a martial arts dojo of some kind. i think he may have grown up in japan. whether hes half japanese or just got raised there bc his family traveled for work is unclear to me at this time but… he spends his time around kids trying to help them channel their frustrations out healthily.

he's extremely cheerful and it puts, Raleigh(?), off. When Rals goes to get his blackbelt or whatever he's like can i have literally any other instructor. Please. I figure Ralsei is around 19ish… Kris and Susie are 18. Ralsei might be studying to be a doctor, and jarona has a nursing degree he just doesn't really use bc he prefers a less structured environment where he can take charge. It's difficult thinking about what exactly ralsei and flowery would be doing in a nonmagical au bc their bond is so very magic in nature it's like UMMMM SCIENCE MAYBE??? 😰 i think Raleigh genuinely wants to be a professional pastry chef but feels it's a silly job and nobody would take him seriously and jarona has to be like well i could've been a doctor but i spend my time teaching kids to kick ass instead. because i would've gone insane in a hospital. and i needed to make that choice for myself. i wasted a lot of time getting a degree i dont need only to realize what i really needed was people to meet me where i am and love me anyway. is that what you need, Raleigh?
