go into a lot of comments sections and see no comments but hundreds of kudos on ao3. see a lot of written posts on here with oodles of likes and no reblogs or replies. ive long speculated that the reason for this phenomenon is how hostile the culture has become if you don't ship the right way. can't be caught commentating on a post about kidnapping or rape or whatever the hell. people fear the panopticon. but like. stuff will stop being made for you if you only every show your love for an artist on discord. see back in the day everything was on forums, and thats how i preferred it personally. obviously my personal issues with discord are more OCD and paranoid, but a lot of people like the... perceived privacy they have there. perceived being the keyword. you of course deserve to feel safe, but you have to know an artist doesn't owe you anything if you don't help them stay motivated. people are looking for community, but all the community is behind closed doors these days. and the people doing this have good reason, given we have normalized stalking and harassment to the extreme online. lolcows. callouts. the sensationalism never ends. i saw sarah at the devils sacrament. but nobody ever says hey devil. nice sacrament. i like what you did with the sacrament
