headcanons - will's home & things
I imagine his home is a safe haven of sorts. It both reeks of his sentimentality and lacks that. The lawn care is upkept, all done by Will himself. He has land that the house is on. He frequents the meadows and river not too far from where the house sits. In the backyard, there is a garden and a shed. It’s small, cluttered, cozy, and maintained.
The living room probably has the most of Will’s personality present. It’s clean, simple, and warm. He has a desk that sits under the window where he makes lures, writes, and reads. In the evenings, he spends time watching the dogs in the yard at the window, and often goes there first when he comes home from work, removing his shoes and letting his dogs greet him enthusiastically.
He has a LOT of books. I imagine he mostly reads non-fiction books about his hobbies. Fishing books, philosophy, studies, nature things, and so on. He probably reads a lot of plays as well. He might indulge in a paperback. He also plays the piano. An old one sits on the opposite side of his desk. There are a billion dog beds, blankets, and things for them to perch themselves on. He owns a laptop, but he doesn’t have a TV, at least not before he marries Molly. Maybe afterwards. Aside from books and things he does for hobbies, I imagine he doesn't own much. But what he does like, overflows.
His bedroom feels bare in comparison. It lacks anything that would suggest he lived there. It’s plain, minimal, and almost empty. He has an uncomfortable-looking bed with ugly sheets. He has duplicates of the same sheets that he frequently changes because he sweats and has many night terrors. I imagine it smells clean but very much like Will as a result.
His personal items and clothes are painstakingly and neatly put away. They are all folded and put away in the same direction. He has many similar things. White undershirts, jeans, plain shirts, varying hunting clothes, dull and neutral or warm colored/themed. He has a few suits solely for work.
His kitchen is more for utility. It’s very organized as well. It also lacks variety. The things he uses a lot are well-kept and of better quality than the ones he doesn’t. His meals tend to be simple, but he does know his way around a kitchen, cooking for himself and his dogs. His dogs eat homemade dog food, which takes a lot of prep, given how many dogs he has and their varying breeds/ages/conditions. Each dog has a diet tailored to their needs. As a result, Will can skip around taking care of himself properly. His focus is always on something else. But he does have a well-stocked bar.
His bathroom is modern and uninspiring, and it lacks many personal touches. It’s neat, though. His pills were perfectly aligned and labeled. Cheap hygiene products or ones that were gifted. His nasty aftershave with the sailboat on the bottle. Will doesn’t have any preference.
The most notable thing about his home is his dogs. Or, well, the number of dogs Will has. He probably has anywhere from 6 to 10+ dogs at a time. More or less, given how many he can get adopted out. He keeps many of the undesirables himself, working with and training them. They are all exceptionally trained and cared for. He hand-makes their food and undoubtedly provides medication and care to those who need it, having many senior and high-care dogs that he could not reasonably find homes for. Will loves them, and they love Will; his patience and understanding are always given. He often indulges them as well. They’re spoiled rotten with their own beds, blankets, endless toys, and healthy treats. They’re frequently bathed, so they’re not smelly, and often accompany him out when he ventures into the river/land.
