Neil I know you've been in this game for longer than I've had two legs and ten fingers, but I'm having a heck of a time getting my books in the hands of a publisher who will give them the time of day based on genre alone. I got four full length books but because I do queer romance kinda stories in an urban fantasy setting, the fantasy publishers refuse to look at them for the queer romance, and the queer romance publishers refuse to look at them for the urban fantasy, and there ain't no room for in between. Am I chasing a pipedream here? Should I give up one half or the other? I know publishing is in a bit of a pit right now but it seems like this isn't an issue that's gonna resolve in my lifetime

I'd submit them as Urban Fantasies to the Urban Fantasy publishers and as Queer Romance to the Queer Romance publishers, and as books to anyone else. Let them find out what else is in there when they read it.
